Incredible views, gorgeous place, even better hosts.

The house was immaculate. The views of the lake in the morning were serene. Took our 4 year old fishing off the dock and caught a handful of white bass, and a couple of nice catfish. The place is super spacious. 10/10 and we can't wait to book it again!

The best appointed, best prepared VRBO we've ever had

Our group of 9 stayed here in the fall. It was perfect. It is not an exaggeration that this was the best prepared VRBO we've ever experienced, right down to the last detail. The hosts have thought of everything, and importantly, packaged it all up in a pdf that they share in advance. Everything is clear, arranged, and well-labeled. The place smells great and works great. We would be happy to return.

This is a beautiful home on the lake. Every room was just perfect for our family. We had plenty of space and privacy. The home is beautifully decorated with all the modern comforts. We all had a wonderful time.

Amazing home, wonderful owners!

We just returned from a fantastic Labor Day week at Piper House & I will fully attest that it is just as wonderful as the pictures & reviews make it seem! This was our first family vacation with our 8 month old daughter, my mother, father, & sister-in-law traveling from England, & my parents traveling from Ohio. The layout of the main house was absolutely perfect for the 8 of us. Everyone had an appropriately sized bed & there was room to set up the pack & play for our baby to nap & sleep comfortably in the flop room with us. The bedrooms are arranged in separate wings of the house & there are white noise machines in every room, so you don't hear a peep if someone goes to bed early. The beds & all linens are top of the line & so comfortable that found myself looking at tags to make note of brands to purchase for my own home! The bathrooms were private & well stocked with towels & toiletries- no need to bring your own shampoo, conditioner, or soap unless you're really attached to it. The kitchen was more than well stocked & literally EVERYTHING is labeled, making it super easy to find what you need & return it where it came from. The family room was comfortable with a fantastic view of the lake & the furniture provided an easy, entertaining path for our little one to cruise all over. She really enjoyed banging on the kitchen chairs & crawling under the table to see which grandparent would follow! The home is lovely inside no matter where you are, but my favorite space by far was outside. The screened-in patio, fire pit, dock, swing set, & lounge areas were comfortable & exactly what we needed to take time away from our busy lives to just enjoy each other's company. We didn't get the chance to use the hot tub, but it looked well-maintained & clean. The hammocks were cozy & provided a nice place to relax under the canopy of mature trees. We had breakfast on the patio every morning & played games or just chatted with our favorite beverages every night. The ceiling fan provided much-needed relief when it got too toasty! As if the property wasn't good enough by itself, all communication with the owner was outstanding! I had the pleasure of messaging with Heidi about our trip & she was so kind to leave a basket of age-appropriate toys out for our daughter. You can really tell they poured their hearts into this home & truly enjoy offering it to others. There should be more people like this in the world. Thank you so much for all the memories!

The Piper House felt like home.

Our family spent four days at the Piper House this July and we all loved the place. The location is perfect with the boat rental business just across the bay and Indiana Beach Amusement and Water Park a short walk away. The boat dock is large enough to dock a large pontoon boat and swimming off the dock is great in the no-wake bay. In the private and shaded back yard the playground equipment entertained the little ones while the two fire pits and hot tub helped the adults relax after long days of fun. The best feature however was the house its self. It is very clean and well laid out. The central kitchen open to the dinning and family room of course was the hub of our activity. What wowed us the most however was how well appointed the Piper House is. Many times when vacationing some cottages can feel cold or sparse. Invariably a trip to the store is required to get some basics we have forgotten or that should have been provided. Not at the Piper House. It felt like we were staying in some ones home. A toy box full of building blocks, high chair, pack and play, even an infants walker were all provided. The kitchen was fully stocked with spices, dinnerware and plenty of pots and pans. The bathrooms stocked with soaps and other necessities, even Aloe cream for the inevitable sunburn. We recommend the Piper House to anyone seeking a get away with privacy, yet close to plenty of activities. We thank the owners for sharing their home with us. Randy & Joyce

An absolute gem of a lakehouse fit for a family gathering!

I wholeheartedly recommend staying at the Piper House. We just spent a wonderful 3 days there gathering with our family for Thanksgiving. The owners have thought of everything last detail to make it absolutely carefree - technology and all other aspects of the house are thoroughly prepped, labeled and prepared. The layout of the bedrooms and bathrooms is very nice with the master suite on one side and the other bedrooms/bath down a separate hallway. The bathrooms are fresh and new and supplied with an abundance of linens. The kitchen/island/living area is spacious and very comfortable. The kitchen itself has everything you will need including the very welcome supply of kitchen basics (seasonings, basic cooking consumables, foils/paper towels, etc.) They are not exaggerating when they say all you need to bring is food. The view in the morning of the sun shining on the river was gorgeous. We even saw a bald eagle in one of the backyard trees. Heidi is very responsive to all communication, but we didn't need to ask her a thing during our stay because the whole place is so well done. An enthusiastic 5 stars. We would stay again in a heartbeat.

It was just ok.

House was just adequate for family wknd get-away. Although very clean I did not find the home as comfortable as it was advertised. Living area could sit three people in order to watch tv. We had six adults and one child. Furniture somewhat modern and not real comfortable for middle-aged folks. Stove and kitchen island nice. Table big enough to fit family which was nice. Pots and pans were pretty awful. Very cheap and not enough of them. Only partial roll of paper towels. Ran out Day 1 along with Kleenex. Had to run to store for paper towels, dinner napkins and boxes of Kleenex. Shampoo was empty in one bathroom. Constantly ran out of silverware, dish towels were so thin they were saturated after drying one dish. No access to washer/dryer which would have been nice for wet beach and kitchen towels. Screened porch was nice, but again couch very uncomfortable. Grill was good. Outside lawn small and very dangerous given steep drop off - not a place for young kids to run/play. Hot tub - water discolored. Garbage dumpster overflowing when we arrived and swarming with flies. Stentch bad. Lastly, water quit running during one night of our stay. No way to flush toilets, wash hands, etc. waited till 6 am to call emergency cell numbers of owners and neither phones answered. Text and called with no response. Woke spouse and sent him to buy water so we could flush toilets. Finally got a phone call back from home owner who I felt minimized what we were going through. We did get a half day refund, but it cancelled plans we had for half the day. Realize this was out of control of homeowners, but felt homeowner tried to gloss over the issue and made excuse for neither being available for calls. Plumber got their quickly, but took hrs for home owner to call back. Frustrating experience. Overall disappointed in our stay. Felt home would be so much nicer than we found it given price and description.

Relaxing weekend getaway!!

Seven of us (6 adults and 1 infant) stayed at Piper House for a long weekend. It was the perfect house to accommodate all of us, with room to spare! The bedrooms are set up so that there are 2 on one side of the house and 2 on the other, so it offered some space and privacy when needed. We spent a lot of time outside, on the screened in porch, and down by the dock and water. There is so much to do without ever having to leave the property, and you really can't beat the lake view with Indiana Beach off in the distance. The house was very clean, well-stocked with linens, and the kitchen had everything we needed to do our own cooking. The owner, Heidi, was super helpful and responsive both when booking our trip and once we were on the property. Whether you are looking for a home base while you explore the area, or you just want to hang out and relax for a few days, this is the house for you. We hope to get the chance to return again one day soon!

AMAZING!!

We spent one week at the Piper House...it was amazing. We had 4 adults and 3 children and the layout was perfect! We fished off the dock, rented a boat, went to Indiana Beach, played on the backyard swing set, hot tubbed, built sand castles, built fires and made s'mores. Beautiful memories made. Thank you Heidi and Scott. You have a wonderful place. We loved meeting you guys and Stella!

Great lake getaway

There are so many superlatives for this property. Let's start with the owners who couldn't be more accommodating and talented in creating a wonderful environment to totally relax and enjoy your vacation. The new home is tastefully decorated, furnished and well appointed. We had 9 people and never felt cramped or in each others way. The layout separates bedrooms into wings with several gathering areas in the main living space, spacious kitchen, screened in porch and your private beach and fire pit area. Our younger grands had a great play area as well as the sand beach. Location is outstanding. A few minutes walk and you're at Indiana Beach. We'd heard IB had slipped but our experience was great. Plenty of activities and rides to entertain all age groups. A 5 minute drive to the Tippecanoe Country Club Golf course. We played and its a nice and challenging layout with spectacular views of the lake. The boat rental is a 5 minute walk. Anything you would want in a town is within 10 minutes by car. Remember drive in movies? 5 minutes to a 2 screen drive in. Can't forget the Sycamore Ice Cream stand 5 minutes away! Our family totally enjoyed our stay and are planning on returning again next year. This property is by far the finest in the Lake Shafer area. Thanks again to Heidi and Scott for a great family vacation!
