We just returned from a fantastic trip to Italy highlighted by our time at Villa le Calvane. Eva and Gemma were wonderful communicating with us prior to our trip so all our activities could be coordinated. They informed us that many of the activities we were interested in (horseback riding, truffle hunting, winery tour) were offsite and so would require us to drive, but they were very helpful in arranging a private ride back and forth to Florence and a 2-day car rental while we were at the property so we could go to these activities and take a day trip to Pisa. The staff were incredibly helpful and welcoming, the rooms and bathrooms were spacious, the grounds were clean and well-maintained, and the views were phenomenal. We very much appreciated everyone's efforts in making our stay so fabulous!

Unpleasant Odors and Unmet Expectations
I rarely leave reviews, but after this recent stay, I feel compelled to share my experience. Firstly, I must commend the waitstaff for their exceptional service. However, our room had an unpleasant odor that seemed to be a mixture of louis and an overpowering perfume used to mask it. Regrettably, the hotel was fully booked, and the receptionist was unwilling to consider a refund. Her handling of the situation lacked the professionalism one expects from a five-star establishment. Despite our attempts to find a solution, we were met with disappointment throughout our stay. While the breakfast and location were acceptable, it's my opinion that this hotel falls short of a five-star rating and is better suited as a four-star establishment.

Dream vacation
Villa le Calvane is an excellent place to spend a vacation. It has a wonderful location with beautiful views. Service was excellent. We loved this boutique hotel! I still dream about their breakfasts. However, I wasn’t crazy about their dinner menu. I can’t wait to go back there. I already recommended this place to my friends who are planning to go to Tuscany.

Service needs serious improvement
This is not a true 5-star hotel. The price we paid was extremely far beyond the actual standard and quality of the hotel as well as the service received. Our room had a broken toilet; it did not flush and would just continue running water endlessly. We were expected to deal with having a plumber in our bathroom for 4 hours who, by 11:45pm, still had not fixed the toilet. Our original room started to smell like sewage, we still had not been able to use the bathroom, and we were not able to go to sleep. It was only after hours of unhelpful exchanges that the night manager’s only attempt at offering a solution was moving us to a significantly smaller room that was downstairs and out in the garden. He also falsely repeated multiple times before that there were no other rooms available. We eventually had to pack up and move all of our suitcases at midnight. This room was nothing like the one we booked and zero compensation was provided. Standard customer service, let alone a “5-star hotel” should be going above and beyond to make up for such an inconvenient problem. We are talking about a hefty 750€ per night per room here, and they offered nothing. All they said was “Sorry, even with our regular maintenance these things can happen.” Ultimately, the rest of the stay was negatively impacted by this and we can only rightfully be upset that we spent an exorbitant amount of money on what was supposed to be a luxurious and relaxing stay which turned into nothing but unenjoyable.

Absolute Perfection!
'Exceptional' really is the right word for this hotel. The team feel more like a family than just colleagues and everyone is so welcoming and friendly! There's passion, enthusiasm and love put into everything they do, as best demonstrated in the superb food and drinks. The setting is nothing short of paradise and the wine tasting we booked with Mirko the sommelier and restaurant manager was the best we've done anywhere in the world! One night just wasn't enough...!

Our experience here was truly exceptional. We stayed for 4 nights and could not have imagined our stay would be as perfect as it was. We were looking for a peaceful place to unwind and that is exactly what we got. The hotel itself is beautiful, clean, quiet, has incredible views, and the food is amazing, but the staff is what really put this over the top. Their incredible kindness and hospitality throughout our stay will make this an experience we will never forget.

Perfection. And I have never given a 10/10
I was skeptical of the 10/10 reviews. But my stay really was perfect. I felt like a VIP the entire stay. The staff was attentive. The head butler and sommelier was excellent and knowledgeable, I learned so much during our wine tasting. The neighbourhood is straight out of a movie. Perfect street lined vineyards and villas. I wish I could recall names of the staff but I went 3 weeks ago and now names have slipped me. How could I forget the food ! The absolute best meals I had in Italy, and we were also in Milan and Rome on our trip. In summary, great wine, spacious room, great food, superior service, stately accommodations. A perfect Tuscan Villa!

a total disaster. Junior suite is not what it is advertised on expedia, its claustrophobic, no windows, No ventilation, no Ac, more of a hidden bunker in the basement. They will try to extract every penny out of you by falsifying bills. Make sure you double check your bill before you check out. It looks like this hotel in on a cash crunch at least that's the vide you get when you check in. Very mediocre overall. For 800US$ a night its totally worthless.

We had an unbelievable stay the the hotel. The property is the perfect Tuscan landscape and the rooms are gorgeous and clean. The best part was the staff. They were all extremely attentive to our needs and made us feel like home. Highly recommend staying at this property.

Delicious and fantastic hotel winery experience. The hotel is top notch. The staff are polite and attentive. There grounds, pool, dining and room are immaculate. We met Masimo the owner and his wife and learned about their story to restore and provide an excellent hotel experience. Horseback riding within 10 minutes, wine tasting, and centrally located to visit Pisa, the coast, San Gimignano, Sienna, Florence, etc…. Truly a fantastic location and experience! Villa Le Calvane is in possibly one of the best areas of Tuscany. The Villa sits on top of a hill - with stunning views in all directions. The infinity pool is beautiful and the surrounding area has comfortable outdoor sofas and chairs with a small - but well stocked bar. We had lunch and breakfasts and the food and quality of presentation was excellent. Next time we will take a cookery course with their executive chef. Our suite was spacious, excellently laid out and comfortable. The main reason for returning, apart from all of the above - is the staff. Everyone, from front of house to F&B and porters are so very friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. Then we come to the owners - and his lovely wife, who spend time with each guest and make them feel like you have been invited to a private house party! My only regret is that we were on route as part of a long trip and only had 2 days at Villa Le Calvane - we will be back for a much longer stay to more fully explore the wonderful region around this property. Loved the property but the SPA was closed. The staff is fantastic and accommodating. We ended up paying way more than the rest of the guests and I’m not certain why as there were open rooms. I wouldn’t say we got good value at the price (€750) we paid but if one gets it at the €450 ish it’s worth it.

Great and newly renovated Property
Great pool and incredible views. Make sure to use the garden furniture for perfect sunset views. Also be sure to have a car with you as not much is closeby and let the hotel know in advance if you want to rent bikes as they need to arrange for them to be delivered. Overall very helpful staff and very nice property you can use as a base to explore the rest of the Chianti region.

This was the best hotel I stayed in on my 14 day tour of Italy . The staff was so friendly and the hotel was super clean . The decor is fabulous and the rooms were spacious. The food is 5 star for dinner . We rented a car which was great because we drive to a lot of cities nearby . However we got a flat tire 30 minutes from our hotel and no one was opened to help us with the tire . Max aka the manager of the hotel came to get us and helped fixed the tire in the pouring rain . He stated that the hotel is the only family we have here in Italy and we help family when they need it :) I wish I had more days at this hotel . The rest of the staff was awesome too .

Everything was fantastic. Will absolutely come back. If you have a car and want to find a truly outstanding resort for you stay in Tuscany/Florence, this is the place. Be aware that the resort is cllosed from November through March.

Villa with Beautiful Views of the Tuscany
My Wife and I stayed in a two-room Suite at Villa Le Calvane. The views were absolutely stunning and the pictures do not do it justice. The scenery wildly exceeded my high expectations for what it would look like in Tuscany. The hotel itself was very charming and the staff were very friendly and accommodating. Our two room suite was very large and comfortable. Also the food and wine were delicious. We got to know the staff here and they were very friendly and accommodating. It was a 30 to 40 minute drive to Florence, which we did several times, but we were always glad to retreat to Villa Le Calvane at the end of a busy day. Amazing! We will stay there again the next time we return.

Great hotel for relaxation. Great service. The food was either too casual at the pool or too complicated at the restaurant. It would be nice to have a bowl of soup or something at the end of a long day at the hotel. The pool water is too cold. In general it was a very good experience you feel pampered there.

It was absolutely wonderful to stay there. Villa is brand new. I’ve stayed at many luxury villas in Tuscany. This one had a best bathroom finishes. I didn’t feel it was too busy even though the villa was full with guests. Service was excellent. Size of room was pretty big. We enjoyed the free sauna after we used the gym. The pool has an amazing view. I don’t know how many photos I took there. It’s not heated pool so water temperature was cold. You can watch beautiful sunset from everywhere. Whoever designed the villa did a great job. You can even have a great view from bathroom. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I stayed at Le Calvane with my family for the first five days of our two week Italian vacation. It exceeded our expectations in every way. The hotel was beautiful and the staff was fantastic. The concierge helped us find restaurants and activities in the towns around the hotel, and every one of her recommendations was truly amazing. We loved our stay and highly recommend this hotel!
