Overall, not bad but we got disappointed a few times and our concerns were not addressed (the reason for loosing one star). First, I communicated with the host before renting that I will need a travel crib and they ensured us that there is one. When we got there, there was one very dirty travel crib that I didn't risk putting my baby in. If you are renting and planning to use the crib, make sure they replace or properly clean it. Also, 2 hand towels were dirty (make up stain and obvious that they were not washed) so I'm not sure if the rest of the towels were washed or not. In addition, the trash bin was broken and did not open properly. I addressed all these the first day and they told me that the maintenance team will be there to address all these issues. No one showed up and I was too busy with my kids to follow up. The house was overall clean. The backyard was not clean and neat like in the pictures. There was overgrown grass and vegetation everywhere that made it very hard to walk. My babies played on the swing set a little bit which was fun. I got good communication from the host but as I said, none of my concerns where addressed. We were told to start a wash of the towels on our way out which we did, so the next person going in will definitely have fresh and clean towels.

There were some pros and cons to our stay here. Pros: Seamless check in process, perfect size for our family of 4 plus 1 friend, great/safe neighborhood, convenient location to get to a lot of spots, walking distance to a park. Cons: the pictures are quite outdated on the listing, the backyard is overgrown and looks like it hasn’t been cared for in a long time, the cleaning crew did a pretty poor job (ie a used diaper in one of the bedrooms, hair in the bathroom/tub), the bathtub had mildew in the grout (which probably would have come off if it were actually cleaned). Despite the cons, it was a nice place to stay for our trip to the area and would consider it again if the backyard was in better shape.

There was a note left “from management” that the washing machine or dryer was not working which was incredibly disappointing since we were there for a long stay and absolutely planned to use the machines. According to reviews this has been an issue since September. Even if they did work they were so covered in mold I was not excited to try them out. Also the pack and play was broken and taped together and not safe for a child to sleep in. When we told management they said “thanks we’ll update the listing.”

At first, welcoming via text, however when we had an issue with the dryer not working after confirming with them that washer and dryer were in working condition. We washed our clothes and the dryer tumbled but never heated to dry our clothes. After messaging the host, an update was never sent. I sent another message in the evening to let them know I had wet clothes and a reply was sent at 11:30 pm to state an apology for the inconvenience and nothing can be done. Kitchen and laundry access is a huge component of renting a house for our trip. To not have laundry access was a true inconvenience especially to not have an update until 11:30pm and have to bag up wet clothes to take into our car for a 12 hr car ride was very upsetting.

If you do not need baby items, care about host communication, or want a bathtub then this place is great! Pros: the house is cozy, well set up, beds are comfortable. Cons: it was advertised that baby items were available but upon arrival all baby items (crib, high chair, changing mat) were stored in the garage and were covered in rodent excrement. Absolutely disgusting and host was impossible to get a hold of. You can call or text but all responses are issued by what reads as AI auto response. It cost me additional money to rent the items I needed which was a total bummer. I ended up leaving early because of lack of communication and concerns over cleanliness. I was able to finally get a hold of customer service who told me everyone with an issue gets the same run-around and then about 10 days after I was told I could receive a partial refund of the one night I missed - but not the whole cost of the missed night. Fine - whatever, trip is over and done. Will never stay with a VRBO hosted by a company again. Terrible experience and really terrible customer service and communication. Pay attention to the negative reviews - I saw them and read them and didn't listen.

Great location and the property worked well for myself and my family of 5. Well equipped with a high chair, travel crib, and board games. After doing a load of laundry the first day we noticed the dryer didn't work. We informed the property management company, who offered us an hour later check-out (not sure how that remedied the situation, but we opted for it and hung our clothes on the dining room table chairs to dry). Other than that inconvenience, the property was fine. A word of caution for parents, the wall heater extends to the floor and gets hot, so we opted to keep our toddler away from it to avoid her getting burned.

Cozy Oaks was a clean and spacious place, with a large deck and swing set that my kids enjoyed. We stayed there for 5 nights. Upon our arrival, I noticed that there were no dish towels or dish rack (only paper towel), so it made it difficult to dry wet dishes. The hosts dropped off new dish towels the following morning, which was appreciated. However, we did have some issues:-the dryer did not work. I did ask for someone to come check it while we were there, but was told that it would be checked after our departure.-the bathtub does not have a stopper, so it was difficult to fill the tub. We ended up using the stopper from the kitchen sink, so that helped. The faucet in the tub does not work, so we had to use the handheld shower head to fill the tub. -there is no coffee maker, just a Keurig, and only a few pods were provided. This was not enough for our 5 mornings, and although we did bring our own coffee, there was no way to make it. The fillable pod did not work.-the bottom shelf of the dishwasher comes off the track-they provided a “starter kit” including two dishwasher pods. Thankfully a third was under the sink but this was not enough for our 5 nights. We appreciated that there were baby books and colouring pages, plus a few games. We also used the highchair provided. Overall, we had a comfortable stay but it would have been 5 stars without the issues mentioned.

The house worked very well for our family and pretty much met all of our needs. The location was great and convenient. And had a nice view! The only improvements I recommended were to fix the back fence as it is falling over by the playground, the bath tub plug doesn’t work so we weren’t able to give the children a bath, the beds were extremely soft and uncomfortable and the packnplay was very old and dirty and needs to be replaced.

Great location, quiet neighborhood, and it was awesome that we didn’t have to bring a high chair and pak-n-play for my son. Super close to so much too! The house is laid out nicely, on a slab foundation so we didn’t have to tip-toe around after putting the kiddo down, and has a great back deck and yard. We did have 2 small issues that were resolved quickly, thanks to the ease of simply calling the management company and speaking directly with someone. Took little effort on our part! We will definitely be back and I plan to book this house again. There were 2 things I would love to see addressed - the play set needs to be better anchored into the ground. When swinging my 17 month old son, the entire structure would sway with the swing and start to lift up. So we didn’t end up using it, but there is a great park like 2 blocks away with 2 playgrounds, an open field, dog park, and basketball court. The other issue was that the bathtub faucet didn’t work, so we had to fill the tub with the shower head, and on a few occasions got nailed by it as it twirled around. But honestly, these things are not enough to stop us from coming back or reducing the review! I wish I would’ve taken more pictures of the place, but I did get some of the backyard. My husband and I enjoyed sitting out during sunset. Oh! And check out didn’t demand much and was pretty straightforward.

Ok experience

The location and neighborhood were great—quiet and close to stores. But the house was not clean or well maintained. We found ants in the kitchen every day. The couches were stained enough that we had to put sheets over them just to feel comfortable sitting down. When we opened the beds, we found hair in the sheets. Towels were stained, worn out, and discolored. The bathtub also had hair in it, and the shower curtain was visibly stained—we had to go out and buy bleach just to spray everything down before using it after a long day of travel. The washing machine, which is used for all the towels and linens, had a thick layer of mold around the seal—even after running a full bleach cycle, the mold was still there. The backyard didn’t match the photos—the garden was completely dead, the kids’ play gym was beat up from the sun and full of spiderwebs, and the awning was ripped. Overall, the property wasn’t maintained to a basic standard of cleanliness or care.

Decent place, but some issues

The location of the property was great and overall, it had potential, but there were a few things that made the experience less enjoyable. There were ants in the bedroom, which was frustrating. I reached out to the management company asking for ant traps, and they said they’d drop some off, but they never followed through. The couches in the living area were also in pretty rough shape—stained and very worn down, which made relaxing in the common space with a family quite uncomfortable. What really made us uncomfortable, though, was that someone from the management company was walking around the property late in the evening. I had to address the two individuals before they left and ask why they were there at almost 8pm. They stated they were with the management company, but that was only confirmed after we called to verify. Overall, it wasn’t a terrible stay, but I wouldn’t return unless some of these issues were addressed.

Really great house for our family visit. Perfect size, clean and comfortable. Checkin - I’ve rented several VRBO before, by far the most complicated to get the information, but it did work out and the company did respond to email.

Disappointing quality and communication

Instead of receiving check-in instructions 2 hours before arrival as anticipated, we sat in our car in the drive for nearly 45 minutes waiting for a response from the customer care team. Once getting inside, seemed fine at first glance. The longer we stayed, the more problems we found. - the bath doesn’t work, only the shower; - the hardware for the shower curtain rod was hanging broken off the wall; - black - the sprayer on the kitchen sink leaked and sent scaling hot water all over me; - advertised a crib- there is actually a very used, stained pack and play- we specifically asked if there was a sheet for it, were told yes and there was not a sheet; - advertised as kid safe with exposed electrical outlets throughout the house

Perfectly Simple, comfortable and Clean

Location was quiet and central to many things. Grocery store is 2 minutes away. House was very clean and well stocked. Bed was super comfortable as was the couches. This place was perfect for our work crew. FYI, they only have a Pod coffee maker, but did provide a refillable Pod.

Great Stay near Monterey

The property was very clean and in a very quiet neighborhood. There was a playground in the backyard that my 5 and 4 year old loved. Less than a 10 minute drive to Cannery Row. We will be looking to stay here again in the future.
