Umbrian Retreat

Lovely secluded and peaceful property. Fantastic views from the terrace and delightfully refreshing swimming pool. This was our second visit and it didn’t disappoint.

Our wonderful Italian holiday

After booking in 2019 covid had caused a couple of changes to our booking, Guido (villa manager) was very supportive and helped with all our changes which was greatly appreciated, Guido’s communication via email was great, he would get back to me within 24 hrs of any question I had. 2022 and finally our dream holiday was becoming a reality. We flew into Rome and hired a car (which is a must to travel and see the different areas of Umbria) it took us just under 2hrs to drive. When we arrived to the villa we were blown away by the most incredible view. The villa itself was beautiful, large bedrooms, great entertaining space downstairs and a lovely patio dining area which we spent most of our evenings playing cards with a glass of wine :-) The pool was perfect, and our kids loved every second, a lovely gentleman came to clean the pool 2/3 times a week which was also great! Beautiful surroundings, there are the most amazing sunsets every evening which we would relax back and watch from the patio :-) We saw porcupines, lizards, scorpions, deer right in the grassland by the villa, it was incredible! The road is a bit bumpy on the drive up to the villa but after a few drives you get the hang of how to drive on that terrain ;-) Tips on amazing places to visit locally, Orvieto was our favourite place (the cathedral at night is breathtaking) some beautiful places to visit and great gelato bars! Todi is also lovely very hilly! Lake bolsena was a hit with the kids, they spent hours swimming in the lake with the most beautiful views, it was so warm like a bath. A couple of adults visited marmore falls which was a bit too hot for the kids to walk around. Montecchio has a lovely little village store where a gentleman sells his very own home made Olive oil which was delicious. Lots of local wines to try. All the locals were so friendly to us, Google translate became our best friend as many locals could not speak English. We loved this experience. If your looking for a holiday in an area not full of tourists Umbria is perfect. This villa was perfect, where we made lots of special memories with our family! Thankyou Guido and your team for a great overall experience, highly recommended :-)

Casa davvero bella in posizione molto tranquilla. Bello il borgo medioevale di Montecchio. Da visitare il frantoio Bartolomei e l'azienda vinicola della Fam. Cotarella. Ottima comunicazione con il responsabile dell'agenzia. Unico consiglio che darei è maggiore attenzione nella manutenzione generale: diversi oggetti rotti (retina pulizia piscina, sdrai piscina, micro onde, divanetto area ping pong), diverse lampadine mancanti/fulminate (zona esterna) e caldaia non adatta per utilizzo docce in contemporanea. In generale, comunque, un'esperienza più che buona.

Schönes Haus mit (kleinen) Schwächen in toller Lage

Der Zustand des Hauses offenbart einige Schwächen z.B. ist die Funktionsfähigkeit der Duschen eingeschränkt, da die Abtrennungstüren nicht funktionieren oder der Duschkopf nicht arretiert werden kann. Auch die Spülmaschine hat anfangs nur eingeschränkt funktioniert. Nach einer gründlichen Reinigung / Entkalkung ging es dann besser. Auch die Grundreinigung des Hauses v.a. der Küche könnte besser sein. Ansonsten sind die Lage, Räumlichkeiten, Pool und Umgebung absolut empfehlenswert.

Beautiful, relaxing villa in Montecchio.

We had a wonderful time in the villa. We were a party of 8 and the villa was clean when we arrived and spacious to accommodate us. Three large clean bathrooms and two living areas one upstairs and one downstairs gave us room to spread out. The pool area was very nice-surrounded by olive trees, and lavender- and was cleaned regularly. Beautiful views from all windows. Good internet connection upstairs, a little weak downstairs but was fine. The kitchen was fine well equipped with dishes, glasses and pots. Clean linens and towels were there for us. The villa is located not far from the town on Montecchio and 30 minutes away Orvieto. There was a grocery store in town and one located just down the hill from the villa. The last part of the road is gravel to get up to the villa but was not a problem as it added to the privacy and the views. Pleasant in the morning and evening and warm during the day. The owner was very responsive to some issues in the beginning of our stay and throughout. We wanted to explore Umbria as we have been to other areas of Italy and were very happy we did and this villa was a good launch point to enjoy the peace but to also travel around the region.

Peace and tranquility in the beautiful Umbrian hills.

We had a fantastic week in this really wonderful property in its peaceful location. It was just as described and photographed - if not nicer! Leading up to our week, communications regarding the property were very good and any queries promptly answered. The check in arrangements were easy and Claudia showed us to the property tucked away down a track a couple of miles from the village of Montecchio. The house really is lovely. Very well equipped indeed with everything you could possibly need! The kitchen was really well equipped with loads of pots, pans, utensils and crockery, cutlery and glasses. We mostly ate in and cooked our own food and even made bread most days as it was so easy to do in such a warm climate! We ate every meal outside on the beautiful table which was bordered by rosemary and lavender bushes and so would get lovely fragrant wafts every now and again! Just gorgeous. If I was the owner of the property, I would be tempted to trim the rosemary bushes down by just a few inches so you could really appreciate the amazing view from the property as you can’t really see it whilst sitting at the table. I liked the proximity of the pool to the house - really handy and the pool - which is absolutely lovely - is reached by a beautiful foliage covered walkway. The bedrooms and living areas were really spacious and very nice and there were spare fold up beds so the property would sleep quite a lot of people if required. There was also a table tennis table and table football which kept our family entertained when not in the pool! We also used the huge barbecue several nights and it was great. We would have liked an outdoor wood fired pizza oven to try our hand at pizzas however. The picturesque village is Montecchio is nearby with a few small shops and a bar with good gelato. We used the biggish supermarket near Orvieto for food shopping which was about half an hour away and their is another reasonably sized supermarket about 15 mins away in a nearby village. We also got the train in to Rome - fast train took 50 mins and the station was about half an hour away. All in all a wonderful holiday in a really peaceful, get-away-from-it-all location. Highly recommend.

Tolles Domizil!

Wir verbrachten 14 schöne Tage im tollen Haus (bis auf den Geschirrspüler, den könnte man getrost entsorgen...). Das Haus ist gut ausgerüstet, der Pool wird regelmässig gewartet. Montecchio ist ein charmantes Dörfchen und vom Haus aus auch gut zu Fuss erreichbar, allerdings empfiehlt sich dies nicht wenn die Temparatur 30 Grad und mehr beträgt. Viele sehenswerte Städte sind gut erreichbar. Sehr empfehlenswert ist Orvieto und Orvieto Underground (Führungen kann man im Touristenbüro buchen).

Abbiamo trascorso un soggiorno molto piacevole

Sehr schönes Ferienhaus / Casale mit wunderbarer Aussicht, inmitten vom Olivenhain gelegen, schöne Alleinlage. Zum Ort Montecchio kommt man in 20 Minuten gut zu Fuß hin. Gepflegt, sauber, alles Notwendige ist vorhanden.

Montecchio calm and peaceful

We had 2 wonderful weeks in Montecchio, nice place, nice people, nice food. Very good position between Siena and Rome, + lot to see like Orvieto and Viterbo Umbria is really fantastic
