Restful

The gite was lovely. It was in a very rural area with some nice villages and restaurants nearby. We had a couple of problems with the television, which was unfortunate given the Euros and Wimbledon were on but thank you to Gerard he got the problem sorted. The beautiful pool was a bonus and was needed to cool off from the heat.

Un séjour ressourçant

Le gîte est très agréable, bien équipé et aménagé. L’endroit idéal pour des vacances au calme, entouré de beaux paysage et de joli villages. Les hôtes étaient très réactifs et à l’écoute. De plus, les animaux sont les bienvenues et notre chien a pu profiter pleinement de se vacances à la campagne.

Excellent séjour. Malgré le temps maussade, l'usage du poêle nous a bien réchauffé les esprits et la maison. Très bonne situation, à proximité de Issigeac que nous adorons. Chaleureux accueil des propriétaires que nous remercions.

A wonderful fortnight in the Dordogne!

The setting of the property is just beautiful. It is so tranquil. The property itself is very charming. In addition it is very well equipped with a large living room and a decent sized kitchen with everything that you would need. The swimming pool area is a fantastic addition as well. Gerard and Christine are both very friendly and helpful. Overall it was a wondefully relaxing two weeks and we will definitely be back again.

Tres joli gîte sur magnifique propriété

Séjour très agréable dans un lieu calme merveilleusement arboré. Depuis la piscine on peut voir les chevaux de la propriété. Des petites attentions des propriétaires nous attendaient dans le réfrigérateur à notre arrivée ce qui est très plaisant.

A quiet idyll.

Christine and Gerard have a beautiful home and are very special people. We had a wonderful time and could not fault the care and attention they gave us. We would highly recommend them to anyone travelling in this part of France- thank you to all the family for looking after us so well.

Such a variety of places to visit !

Amazing to arrive at Montbazillac's castle at 10 am and so to have the whole place just for ourselves.After the castle, we walked around among the vineyards, it was gorgeous ! Issigeac itself is delightful with its medieval streets. Many thanks to Christine and Gerard for their friendly welcome.

Away from home but feeling at home !

Mooi en gezellig cottage achtige woning met veel privacy. Prachtige zeer grote tuin( vooral ook heerlijk voor de hond) die dan ook garandeert dat het landelijk blijft in de toekomst. Overal leuke zitjes in of uit de zon. Helaas net geen zwembad weer meer maar totaal niet gemist. Christine en Gerard en dochters vormen een zeer prettig ‘gastgezin’ dat het ons zo goed mogelijk naar de zin wilden maken ! Prima goed geoutilleerde keuken die uitlokte om zelf te gaan koken. Issigeac leuk dorpje op loopafstand en de directe omgeving is prachtig voor fietsen, wandelen en het genieten van alle geneugten van de Dordogne. Heerlijk weekje met z’n tweeen bijkomen. Tot gauw !

Incredibly relaxing holiday in the beautiful Dordogne.

What a find! We can't recommend this gite enough, from the point of view of location, peace and quiet, everything you could need, beautiful refreshing swimming pool, gorgeous weather and great hosts. The gite is spacious, clean and nicely furnished, with an extremely comfortable big bed and powerful modern shower. Set just outside Issigeac, it's close enough for nipping in to eat or shop, but far enough away to not be bothered by passing traffic, etc. The market on Sunday mornings is renowned and has won awards and it's easy to see why. There are several restaurants in Issigeac, all superb. We had two lovely lunches in L'Atelier and L'Ancienne Gare and two fantastic evening meals - L'Atelier again and La Brucelière. We also enjoyed a snack lunch at the galleterie one day when we didn't want a full meal. Around the area you have a number of picturesque Bastide villages and towns (Villeréal, Castillonès, Montpazier, Montbazillac, Beaumont-en-Perigourd), and if you're prepared to travel further afield then Beymac and Sarlat are wonderful. We also visited some vineyards in the region, and St Emilion was absolutely stunning. We went to Cahors, but the best place to sample the wines is in the vignobles outside the city, although if you do go to Cahors make sure you take some photos of the famous mediaeval bridge. We will definitely be back to see Gerard, Christine and Zoe again in the future, and our dog was made very welcome by Zoe. It was lovely to have her greet us back from a day trip out, always with her favourite ball in her mouth. Thank you both very much for everything ... And, yes, we did manage to get the puzzle finished before we left!

LE CALME ET SÉRÉNITÉ A LA CAMPAGNE

jolie gite bien équipé au calme à la campagne avec une belle piscine très agréable, bonne literie, et propriétaires alliant convivialités et discrétions. seul bémol à notre avis il faut mettre un frigo avec congélateur si l’on veut faire les courses une fois par semaine, celui en place est bien trop petit. la connexion wifi et la tv française ne fonctionnent qu’a 60% il faut revoir les réglages d’entenne et de wifi. vous pouvez faire une halte sans problème dans ce gîte que nous recommandons.

Beautiful simply says it all!

The setting for Le Creche is wonderful. A beautiful renovated farm in fantastic grounds, all kept pristine by Gerard and Christine who are wonderful hosts. The gite is very well equipped, with everything you need plus more. Nice welcome pack of beer, wine, bread, jam and milk, plus tea and coffee. The rooms are very spacious and the photos don't really do it justice. So full of character. The pool is very nice and the setting so tranquil with views over the valley. A great place to relax after a morning's sightseeing followed by lunch on your private patio by the gite. Location is great for Issigeac, which must be one of the nicest bastide towns in the region. So full of character and charm. A 30 minute gentle walk from the gite or a 5 minute car ride, plenty of parking. The Sunday market is a must and the "gourmet" evening on Thursdays is great fun. If you plan on eating in town, then La Bruceliere is a must. The food is delicious, fantastically prepared and presented, and very reasonable too. Great staff. Overall, we would say it's a fantastic gite in a great location, run by two very nice hosts. We would definitely come back here if ever we plan to do the Dordogne region again. Wonderful gite in an ideal setting

This is one of the nicest gites we have stayed in. From the moment you arrive and receive such a warm welcome from the owners Gerard and Christine you realise that you have found a small piece of heaven. The gite is very well equipped with your every need catered for. It is spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean with a touch of charm that these older buildings have. There are several outside seating areas for your own exclusive use and, of course, the pool is wonderful with good quality sun beds and a great view down the valley to enjoy. We must not forget Zoe who adds her own 'charm' to this unique gite. We hope to return very soon.

Relaxing and peaceful location

On arrival, both Gerard and Christine gave us a very warm welcome. They spent time with us in the accommodation, 'Le Creche', showing how everything worked. They provided us with a bottle a wine, some beers, bread and other essentials - a nice touch. The cottage itself was large and cool with nice king-sized double bed, a fan was provided which was welcome on the warm nights. All other facilities were as stated and in good working order. As a bonus there was also English Freeview TV. With another nearby cottage and the large house being set in 40 acres, there was plenty of walking for two energetic Border Terriers. We were often accompanied by Zoe, the owners black Labrador. |The patio area around 'Le Creche' was surrounded by a 'picket' fence. This kept our dogs in and Zoe out! We didn't use the pool, but it did look inviting. Plenty of loungers and sun-shades, plus shade from surrounding trees. Sounded wonderful with the wind blowing through them. The nearest town is Issigeac where the closest restaurants and bars are. Fairly busy during the day but quiet at night, a really lovely place. Very busy on a Sunday though when the local market comes to town. Well worth a visit. Apart from the usual fruit, veg, clothing a bags, there's also antiques and bric-a-brac. Gerard and Christine were so nice and helpful. Most of the time we only saw them when they were working around the property, but always a cheery wave. We enjoyed ourselves immensely and were very sad to leave.

Absolutely stunning in every way!

My husband and I along with our one year old stayed in July this year for a week. We couldn't have asked for a more enjoyable and wonderful stay. The owners Christine and Gerrard couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. We had a few questions we wanted to ask before booking so we knew all was ok for our little one and they went out of their way to accommodate (even purchasing a new high chair for him!). The house and pool are simply stunning and it's incredibly peaceful. The town is such a short distance away which is great, we hired a car as it was great to be able to pop to other town and villages to visit the markets and it just made it easier with shopping and getting to and from the airport. We booked fairly last minute and we are so glad we found such a gem. We cannot wait to return and just want to thanks you both so so much for everything. We had a fantastic holiday!!
