Couldn’t have asked for a better weekend away at the Lake with my family. The host was very responsive and accommodating. Days we spent on the sun deck and the boat dock fishing and soaking up the sun. We brought our boat and that was a piece of cake getting it on an out of the dock. Makes it so much easier when the water is deep around the dock and not to mention the fishing was great in the cove. Thank you so much for letting us stay here! We will definitely be back!

The host was very quick to respond. The house was well equipped in the kitchen and bathroom, including shampoo, conditioner & body wash. The home was cozy, yet roomy. Game room in the basement was fun. A beautiful view of a small cove on the lake.

He seemed welcoming after we got in. We would have appreciated more reaching out ahead of time. House was in pretty good shape. Very dark though, poor lighting. One light had to be plugged in by plugging it in and unplugging. No light switch. Oven too dirty to use. Grill way too filthy to use. Glassware very worn. We bought plastic cups to use. Outside condition fair to poor. My husband was fearful of walking the steps down to the lake or dock. There were no handrails. We left four days early.

My fiancée and I spent an amazing week here. The weather was beautiful, the location was great and the house was amazing. Couldn't of asked for a better vacation. Our primary reason for going on this vacation was to just relax and that's exactly what we did. We only left the house 1 time to refresh our groceries and go out to lunch one day. We had all the amenities we needed to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. We would definitely stay here again.

We had a lovely fall week at SML. The house is as advertised, with 3 bedrooms plus additional sleeping options in the basement. It’s not a new house but appears well maintained and updated. The kitchen is large and sufficient to eat most meals at home, and the beds were quite comfy. The dock is great - we rented a pontoon boat and got to enjoy both the cove and cruising the lake. As noted in other reviews, the driveway is steep but was no problem for either our van or compact suv. Recommend!

Vacation!
We had a wonderful time during our four night stay! The kids loved jumping off the dock, swimming, and kayaking. There were lots of wildlife in the area which was pretty neat to see and hear. We got to take our dog with us and that made our family vacation complete. Thank you!

Beutiful Location for Families
My dad's family is from Bedford. We brought our son, DIL, and grandson to visit the Bedford area. I spent so much time in VA as a child that we wanted them to see the area as a vacation spot. We loved the location and the range of activities at the house and in the surrounding area. We hope to come back when it is warmer to fish more.

What an Experience!!!
Absolutely enjoyed the stay at the Stillwater Getaway. It feels like a home away from home. Scenery, it’s so hard to get the point across with how beautiful it is here. Yeah, so what about the driveway being a bit tricky. Totally worth it to have the house so close to the water and a wonderful spot for a fire pit in between the house and the water. Be sure to catch the Sun coming up in the cove. Be sure to hang out a little bit late and stay quiet outside and watch the wildlife enjoy it with you. We literally looked a Doe in the eyes at about 40 ft from us as the fire died off. Will come again if we can. Come here and experience this place. You won’t be disappointed!!

Overall a good experience...
One star less as there are lot of scopes for improvement...
1. One of the major reasons why we booked due to the arcade game since we have kids in the family. However it ended up working. Host did tried to triage as much as they can but no luck.
2. The main floor TV need to be a smart TV. I am not sure what percentage of the population only rely on cable in current generation. We weren't able to use that at all and again kids were annoying.
3. We understand it's a fall season but we were expecting the outdoor to be cleaned to some extent. The patios were not really in usable condition. The stair down to lake didn't had any lights and too dark to climb during night.
4. Host did mentioned in the listing that we need to dispose our trash but the annoying part was it's around 9 miles from the property.
Overall a good experience and enjoyed to the extent we can. No real complaints and host is really cooperative and tried his best to resolve every problem.

Dad’s 70th Birthday Celebration
This place was perfect. I would highly recommend. The descriptions from the listing is exactly as described. The host was very easy to contact and quick to respond. We made lots of memories with family as this was my dad‘s 70th birthday. He even said this was such a big surprise, and loved every second of it.

Perfect for family of 6
This place is so great! My boyfriend and I both have 2 teenagers so it can be challenging finding a good spot to please us all. Our kids were never bored and stayed off their phones. Jumping off the double deck into the water, the arcade game, the fusball and the beautifully decorated house were spot on. It’s serene and the drive is pretty simple. We will be back

Upon arriving. The power was off.
We waited hours. The commodes stopped working. Water also came in the basement due to the storm. At that point in the evening we had to leave. House was uninhabitable. Have 12 videos. Homeowner will not give refund According to vrbo. When I spoke with a representative Saturday morning

Quiet, restful week
Just finished a great week at this property. Our group included my husband and me, our 26-year-old son, our 21-year-old son and his girlfriend, and our two dogs (first time bringing them to the lake). It was perfect for us. The kitchen was extremely well-equipped and had newer appliances. The large dining table was great for eating and evening games. The extra fridge downstairs was great for drinks. Though we didn’t use the pool table much or the arcade games at all, they are a nice addition in the basement. Beds were comfortable. As others have said, the driveway is no joke. But the parking loop makes it infinitely easier to maneuver. We had no problem with our Suburban, even with two other cars parked there. There are a lot of stairs down to the dock, but it’s not as steep as some properties we’ve stayed at. It does get a little slippery after rain, but there are railings all the way down. Dock was spacious. Extra floater was nice, although we didn’t have access to it much as the renters next door had stuff tied to it off and on all week. There is a ladder to get from the upper dock to the lower dock, so beware of that if anyone in your party has mobility issues. The dock has ample seating, a hammock, a swing, lights, and electricity. There’s also a fridge and a bar area. Everything you could need. Location is about 20 minutes driving from Food Lion, the trash/recycling place, and the marina. We would rent again!

Can’t wait to stay again!
The house is comfortable and clean, probably the cleanest vacation house I’ve ever seen. The dock is perfect with lots of room including space under roof with shade. The cove is quiet, perfect for swimming. We rented a pontoon boat and were able to dock it at the floating dock easily. There are a lot of stairs to the dock but they are wide & sturdy & lighted at night. The driveway is steep but the turn around at the bottom is helpful. We had no trouble in a Chevy Traverse. Kitchen is well stocked, appliances & grill are newer. We cooked all of our meals and had everything we needed. 3 fridges & washer and dryer were a nice convenience. It was HOT outside all week and the AC kept up nicely. The basement area was perfect for our 3 teenage boys. We spent a lot of time playing the arcade game and even set a new high score! The trash drop off was new for us but the place listed by the property manager was convenient. I do wish there was a secure place to keep trash outside until you are ready to take it away. We will be back for sure!

Spectacular house on the lake
I booked this lake house for a family reunion and it was fantastic! Everyone loved the property, especially relaxing on the dock by the lake. My favorite relaxation time was before everyone woke up with a cup of coffee on the sun deck. We spent plenty of time by the water but also enjoyed the other amenities, particularly the game room and the deck with the grill. Owner was quick to respond to any inquiry. I would definitely book another stay at this property in the future!

Memorable visit
Had a wonderful time fishing off the dock with our grandchildren. When we arrived the grill was inoperable and the owner was great in allowing us to pick up a replacement and reimbursing us in a timely fashion. The driveway is steep but doable and even easier if you use the circle as posted. I wouldn’t try a trailer there though. Kids enjoyed jumping off the upper deck and we all loved the use of the boathouse and kayaks. If I had one complaint it would be the beds. We prefer firm support and the beds all have spring mattresses that are either worn out or just poor quality. I was happy to get home to better nights sleep. All in all it’s very spacious to give everyone their own space. Love the 3 levels and 3 fridges counting the boathouse! Thanks for memories I wouldn’t trade for anything!
