Last Ski trip
We came out from the Midwest for one last ski trip. Had a good time and enjoyed the home. The snow removal guy did a nice job of cleaning up the heavy snow.

Mountain vacation at Garfield

A Great Hideaway...
Overall a wonderful place to stay while skiing/snowboarding up on the divide at Monarch. This space feels right at home and is nestled back in the Garfield neighborhood with privacy and beautiful views. I would highly recommend and we're planning on coming back for years to come!

Nice out of the way place.
Great, comfortable house with great access the both San Isabel (technically right out back yard) and Gunnison NF, with many opportunities for fly fishing. Highly recommend this place. Its also right down the pass from skiing if you like that too.

Amazing property
Very peaceful setting and well appointed home. Grew proximity to Monarch ski area and Salida. Chains are needed to access in the winter, though we’re able to get to the bottom of the driveway without them. Worth it for the solitude!

We had a great time!
We were surprised to see the location is close to Monarch Mt.! The home was beautiful on the mountain and very nicely kept and clean! There was a lot of snow when we arrived Feb. 15-19th, 2023. The roads were plowed 2 times when we were there. We had no problems! It was a quiet location and sledding was fun! The Sauna was nice after our ski days!

Never stayed. Frightening experience. Remote location of home never communicated. Arrived after dusk and was not prepared for switch back dirt road and dangerous driving conditions. If not familiar with area, it is not safe. I am very unhappy that I spent nearly $700 and could not risk my family's safety to stay at property. Unfortunately, no refund available. Had to seek other 2 night accomodations last minute. Major damper on what was to be an enjoyable ski trip with family to Monarch Mountain.

Access is Snow Challenged
This was a beautiful cabin on a beautiful property. The snow was gorgeous and kids enjoyed sledding. Property manager required AWD OR snow chains. We had AWD. The road leading to the cabin isn’t always accessible by AWD which dampened the times we wanted to go skiing or drive to town. Our vehicle got stuck in the snow and Pinion pretty much said sorry, we said you need snow chains - which it was either AWD or snow chains. The plow driver passed at odd times which made getting to Monarch early impossible. Overall a beautiful place but I would NOT recommend during winter months of heavy snow unless you have chains.

disappointing
Adorable house and great communication with management but much busier area than implied with photos (could see and hear the highway) and kitchen was really gross. A primary reason for using VRBO type locations when we travel is the ability to cook our own meals and this place made that near impossible both nights. There are lots of cooking gadgets but if they didn’t fit in the strangely small dishwasher then they appeared to have not been cleaned, like ever. Greasy knives and skillets and baking sheets. The whole house filled with smoke when we tried to use the oven - - we had the doors and windows opened for more than an hour so we didn’t choke. And when we tried to adjust dinner plans and use the grill, the ignition switch didn’t work. Managements solution for that was to have someone drop off a lighter late the next day. Great place as long as you don’t cook.

Beautiful place-perfect for 2 adults and 2 kids
Beautiful place-great condition. Cool layout for a couple kids too. Our family of 4 fit perfectly-was a really good time. Highly recommend for getting away from it all but still only about 15 min to town.

Great time of year to be in the mountains
The property was beautiful and easy to find. Great views, fishing within walking distance, and all the stuff you need to cook, etc. Our only problem was the altitude which affected my wife near the end of the trip so we had to leave a little early. Lots of things to see and do in the area. On the whole a great trip.

Absolute joy.
Loved the week we spent at this beautiful mountain home. You can really tell the owners take great pride and it is managed very well. Our only small gripe is that the internet was very inconsistent and our cell service was even worse. This was not a surprise as it was called out in the literature we received/reviewed, so you just need to know this is for a more “off-the-grid” kind of experience. At that, this place really excels. Such a beautiful setting and we’ve never stayed in a cleaner or well furnished rental, at any elevation, let alone 9600 feet above sea level. Thanks for providing such an opportunity. Absolutely loved our stay!

Relax and Recharge
This was such a wonderful location to relax with my pup. The cabin and the property are both beautiful. We relaxed on the patio and did hikes nearby,. The property owner was responsive when we did run into a few issues and offered what help he could. You can hear a bit of traffic from the nearby pass but it didn’t deter us from sitting outside and enjoying the scenery.

Great location beautiful views homey property
The location was picturesque. The property was meticulously maintained and up to date. The cabin is very homey and very clean (I would have given 5 stars on cleanliness except for the bath towels, they smelled like they had mildew from not being washed appropriately to sanitize them which can be a common issue with HE washers and is a sign of not meeting hotel cleanliness standards, it is recommended to the owners get white towels, wash them in cold water with bleach and then hot water to appropriately sanitize them. Also the guest wash the towels so there is no guarantee that the towels are being washed appropriately to meet health standards. The washing machine towel default setting is only warm water, I washed the towels in hot, but most guests I would guess would just pick the towel setting). The internet information on the emailed instructions was also incorrect, luckily the cabin has signage to inform you of the the correct password. The radiant heaters run very hot, if they are set at 60 degrees the internal temperature of the dwelling is closer to 80 degrees. So if you can’t sleep the first night it’s not you, the place is extra hot. The property is situated in a very convenient location, within a 20 ish minute drive to scenic views, a gorgeous disc golf course, the grocery store, downtown Salida, etc. There is one cabin fairly close to the this property, but this property while not 100% private was designed in a manner to maximize the privacy with a landscaping and a shed. There is a nice flat grass area for spending time outside and the ski lift swing on the patio adds a lot of character and opportunity to enjoy the mtn views. There is a lot of outdoor space to view the mountains, but the windows in the cabin are very limited and on the small side so if it’s cold and you want to stay inside, your mountain viewing is limited. Overall, the cabin is very nice and I would recommended it. Note, the totally fees at the end of the process will almost double the nightly total price.

Nice getaway
We have a very relaxing weekend at this property! It was a perfect getaway. The home was very clean and stocked with everything we needed. We particularly enjoyed sipping coffee on the porches and soaking in the beautiful views!

Great place!
I would mind the notes about the directions, and not go off of GPS. However, I think there could be an accurate link to the correct directions. Getting there was a bit of a challenge. Once we were there though, everything was spot on. The cabin was clean and welcoming. We would definitely come back to this rental. Very easy and comfortable.

Always a perfect getaway!
We have stayed at this adorable cabin too many times to count now. Each time is better than the last! Close to Monarch for skiing, close to the adorable town of Salida and not too far from Mt. Princeton Hot Springs, Buena Vista and tons of great hikes! We will keep returning again and again!

Spring break ski trip
Overall very pleased with the property. Unfortunately a few of the dishes/pots/utensils were found dirty, but that was the worst of it. Everything else was absolutely beautiful. The family was giddy driving up to the house and exploring it once we entered. The layout was very efficient and provided ample space for our family of 4. We loved the proximity to the slopes and tire chains are definitely needed during the snow season.

Beautiful Property!
It was a great property but the kitchen and dishes were disappointing. The pots and pans were dirty and smelled like they hadn’t been cleaned with old sponges to clean with. I would recommend eating out and not cooking

Best mountain stay!
Close to Monarch Mountain for easy access to tubing and ski slopes. Beautiful house and property, warm and toasty after a cold day outside. Loved seeing the snow blanketing the ground and the secluded feel of the property. We especially appreciated the 'welcome coffee' as well as the board games available to play. This place is gorgeous and the owners were friendly and ensured we knew how to get there as well as the necessity of chains in winter months - so glad we listened and brought some! 10/10 recommend.

Very nice Mountain retreat just down the road from Monarch
This is a great spot. Close to the slopes but a world away from the hustle and bustle. It is well supplied and the layout is perfect with a first floor mud room for dressing and undressing after a full day on the mountain. I would highly recommend and look towards staying again.

Great Place
This house is a great place to stay for skiing at Monarch. Well situated well stocked. Being able to drive home for lunch made for some cost savings at the slopes. Finding it is a bit difficult due to Google Maps not being accurate but we made it. You will enjoy your stay here.

Cozy Retreat!
Loved this place! The views were beautiful and the home was clean, cozy and had everything we needed. The area is peaceful and quiet. Plenty of area to explore! We had a bit of snowfall while there, so 4x4 is a must to get there! Driveway is steep, BUT we just parked at the bottom and had a great time sledding on it! Our 5 year old loved the little cozy bed nook too. There were little surprises everywhere! Great place to stay and a lovely retreat if you’re trying to relax with the family.

Excellent Place
It was a bit difficult to find as we arrived at night, but once we were there, everything ran smoothly. Perfectly sized home for the weekend and plenty of privacy. Only downside is that the pellet stove was not working and we didn't know until we were on the way. All in all, great spot and will be returning.

Goregous Secluded Cabin
For our honeymoon my now husband and I wanted to find the perfect cabin in the mountains for a romantic week out west. When looking we found ones that came close, until we found this one! It had everything we wanted in a cabin and location. If you want a private snowy cabin surrounded by hiking and skiing spots, look no further!

God creation with a little peace and quiet
My wife and I had the best possible time at the Monarch Crest that left us restored, refreshed, and rested. This property is spectacular with views that leave you in awww and the peacefulness of birds chirping and a little breeze. Our time was well spent and our faith and our love for God grew being in his creation amidst the hummingbirds, the birch trees and the pine trees surrounded by mountains.

Beautiful house and great location
My wife and I loved being in the mountains in a beautiful setting in Monarch Pass. The house has everything you need - we cooked several meals while there. Enjoyed being very close to good hiking trails, and a short 15-minute drive into Salida - even closer to the grocery store in Poncha Springs. Nice deck and porch, one with a swing that is an old ski lift chair. Very relaxing and quiet. We loved it!

Perfect place for some R & R
We loved how the house was tucked away and had stunning views. We enjoyed the great outdoor deck space and loved the gondola seats! The house was comfortable and had everything we needed. The location was great, short drive to Salida and a nice drive out the National Park. I would highly recommend!

We enjoyed the remoteness of the chalet and the easy access to Salida, Buena Vista, Gunnison and Crested Butte. The are numerous hikes and mountain bike trails in close proximity to the chalet. If you are seeking a quiet location, clean home with many appliances, amenities and options for watching the clouds pass over Monarch Mountain, this is the place for you. Pay heed to the 4-wheel drive requirement. The streets to the chalet and the driveway are steep and require clearance and patience.

Truly great place
This is a great place. The cabin had everything we needed. Kitchen was well stocked and had everything we needed( even a coffee grinder). Beautifully decorated. Washer and dryer were nice to have. Great little hiking trails for kids in the neighborhood. Amazing views from the multiple porches/decks. Will come back!!!
