There’s nothing like Base Camp; the night sky, incredible views, wildlife — all here! The river, and usually a beach, are a short walk from your door. Take one of the kayaks, or rent a side-by-side to visit Wind Caves and Chicken Corner — at less than half the cost of in-town rentals! There are unlimited hikes from the property, and many more nearby. But if you want to get away to a quiet, off-the-grid spot, that’s here too. Some folks just sit on the deck and unwind, enjoying the landscape.

Even better, if anything is off about your stay, we’ll make it right. You can count on our homes and our people to make you feel welcome — because we know what vacation means to you.
-- POLICIES --
- No smoking - Pet friendly w/ $25 fee (+ fees & taxes) - Guests of all ages are welcome - Additional fees and taxes may apply - Photo ID may be required upon check-in
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION - The property owner and some staff live on-site, and there are other vacation rentals on-site; other people may be present during your stay - This property is about 1 hour outside of Moab and is best suited for a true remote stay rather than a home base for day trips - There are no stores out here; bring your food and whatever you'd like to drink aside from water - You can kayak by the beach, upriver, and back down, or around the island. During snow runoff, the river may be too swift to use. It doesn't happen every year, but sometimes in May to late June - This single-story home features step-free entry
ACCESS AND VEHICLE RECOMMENDATIONS - The road is most often mentioned in reviews, which normally end with 'it's worth it.' It is a mostly dirt road that normally doesn't require four-wheel drive, but it does need about 6 inches of ground clearance. Most SUVs, Jeeps, and trucks have that. Most sedans and vans do not. In most instances, swing wide on the corners going up and down Hurrah Pass, and if you've driven a dirt road before, you should be fine. If heights are an issue for you, there will be lots of issues up and down Hurrah Pass - As an alternative, call Twisted Jeep in town and tell them you're coming here. They'd rather have their vehicles on this road versus some of the difficult trails in Moab, so if they can give you a good deal, they will
SIDE-BY-SIDE INFORMATION - If you plan to use one of the side-by-sides while you’re here, there’s no reserving them in advance. The property owner has 2 six-seat side-by-sides and 8 potential rentals. They aren't available for full-day rental; a 4-hour rental costs $250. Payment is by check or cash only - You can use the side-by-sides to go to Wind Caves and Chicken Corner, where you'll have plenty of time to explore - The side-by-sides are not for taking to town or the other side of Hurrah Pass. They are strictly for sightseeing in the area

Great location
In town away from road construction near Arches. Front desk person, Gloria, sent us to her favorite spot, Gloria’s for lunch. Excellent. Thai restaurant across the street for late dinner, Fantastic.

Excellent stay
This was a great place to unplug and relax. We enjoyed the beautiful scenery. It is a bit further out from Moab than we anticipated, so harder to get to some Jeep trails we were going to do, but there was also a lot to enjoy nearby the rental. Thank you to Tom for being a great host and offering so many choices on site for activities and recommendations. We particularly enjoyed the wildlife! Great place to stay!!

Fantastic Getaway
You really can't beat the location of this property if you are looking for something that highlights central Utah. Lots of fun hikes around, epic disc golf courses, unique landscape, and the property is very comfortable. Tom is great and is an excellent resource on the area. The drive is exciting but was very doable in a stock SUV with street tires.

Moab Adventure
The drive to Tom’s place was an adventure, just as we were looking for. The views were gorgeous and the place was amazing. We took the kayaks out on the Colorado River and saw beautiful scenery and Blue Herons. We rented a UTV and had a great time exploring Hurrah Pass. My boys really enjoyed climbing on the rocks around the place.

One of the best properties I've ever stayed at
This is truly one-of-a-kind. It's clean, comfortable and well maintained, but it's really the setting that you're paying for. And it's worth every penny and then some.

Like being on Mars
This has to be one of the most fulfilling experiences I've ever had. The remote location and vast landscapes are absolutely breathtaking. There are no words to describe the beauty of this place and the feeling it filled me with. Tom is a fabulous person. He loves what he does and we appreciate that. We cannot wait to go back!

The ride in is ROUGH, but we stayed 3 nights so it was worth it. 18 miles in 2 hrs in our Jeep rental. Get a Jeep! And get there before dark. We got there about 20 minutes before pitch dark, tired and hungry. Tom showed us to the house, told us the necessities and continued with stories. We wanted to eat and go to bed!But he was a superb host, telling us where to hike, what to see, even serving as guide. He also transported our paddles and life vests to river and offered to shuttle us to and from...bc our Jeep got a flat. The place is AMAZING, and Tom and his stories are great too, but not when I'm tired and hungry. We loved Tom.The house was comfortable and we had a fire in the pit every night. Loved our back patio. The room temp was comfortable for sleeping in late September with ceiling fan. A stay

Unique Getaway
My wife, our 9 mos old daughter and I had a great time staying at the Basecamp, yes the road out there is a little long and rough, it takes an hour to get to Moab, about 15 miles of rougher road, but totally worth it and part of the experience, We drove it in a jeep but a van or Subaru would be fine. Once you get out there all the accommodations are there, the place is pretty cool and surrounded by awesome Moab views, don’t forget to check out the stars and Milky Way at night! Tom knows the area and can help get you lined out with places to check out if interested. We would definitely stay again,

Amazing vacation
Came into Moab to escape the Idaho snow. It was just what we were looking for, peace and quiet. We took out the UTV for the day and went to the wind caves with our three dogs, who are used to riding in them on our ranch. We saw lots of great birds including a northern harrier in the field below the cabin. Amazing views & a landscape that is full of magic. Tom was a great host. This is truly a one of a kind retreat.

Awesome adventure
Excellent place to tune out...property is enough just to explore but we also took our bikes plus used a sidebyside to the Wind Caves. The “road” and Hurrah Pass are not for the faint, and 4x4 with clearance would definitely be my recommendation. The house was clean and just as advertised. Tom was accessible and helpful and we will definitely be back!!

Most amazing location
Location was spectacular and property is amazing for outdoor lovers. The road to get there is tough. DO NOT DRIVE THERE AT NIGHT! The recommendation that 4x4 is needed is an understatement. The drive is along a rocky cliff that if you cant see, you will drive off the cliff. Howver bottom line is its 100% worth it.

Once in a Lifetime
The drive down Hurrah Pass was the scariest thing I’ve ever done in my life. (we made it in a Buick Enclave, but every single person we passed laughed at us 😂) but once we reached the property it was totally worth it!
The property was beautiful, the porch and views were amazing!! The stars at night were like nothing I’ve seen, we could see the Milky Way and multiple shooting stars each night. Tom was great and gave us experienced advice, on his recommendation we took the UTV in the evening and we had Wind Caves and Chicken Corners to ourselves.
I wish we could have stayed longer.

Unforgettable Adventure!
We brought our family to stay. The accomodatioms were impressive.
Hurrah Pass was intimidating but I made it over in my AWD Ford Edge.
Tom was an amazing host and took very great care of us. There were Kyaks to use and beautiful views.
The website description doesn't give The Last Hurrah enough justice honestly.
The Hogans are beyond words! Everything was WOW!
The houses he has there are more then adequate , spacious, lovely.
It was an unforgettable experience! There isn't a place like this in Moab!

Great adventure with the kids!
My 4 kids and I had a great time! It was quite the adventure. The drive over Hurrah Pass was awesome!
Tom was great and super communicative. All the amenities that we needed were provided. We rented his Polaris Ranger for 2 days. If you have kids, I would highly recommend spending some time at the wind caves exploring (bring headlights). There is so much hiking that can be done right from the property. Epic disc golf course, too. We typically do not do the same trip twice, but we would definitely like to plan a return trip here. Thanks again for everything Tom!

Off the grid paradise
Where do I start. Everything about this location and the accommodation was awesome. Yes, it’s a little challenging to get to, but totally worthwhile! We rented a jeep and that was an appropriate vehicle…ground clearance is key. The small, separate house we stayed in was great for 2 adults, 1 child. Kitchen was well stocked, we brought in all of our own food which is necessary because once you’re there you want to stay put. There are endless hikes, scrambling on rocks and great adventuring around the area. Don’t miss wind caves. Tom the owner is a delight. Very communicative. We couldn’t get over the scenery. You won’t need to go to Canyonlands Park if you stay here. We can’t wait to go back.

A Trip of a LIFETIME
We as family sat on the porch of the property and came up with words to describe our trip: extraordinary, epic, ancient/time travel, spiritual, fascinating, pushing limits, and phenomenal.
The house was clean and provided everything we needed for our trip out there. We were able to cool down between hikes and jeep rides. The scenery is a million dollar view. Every day we would wake up and couldn't believe we were in between mesa and next to the Colorado River.
Tom was a phenomenal host. Every place he told us to hike was worth it. We kept saying, "if Tom tells us to go there we will not be disappointed."
I would highly suggest a Jeep rental. We avoided wear and tear on our own vehicle and had the ability to go wherever we wanted without worry.
There were some tears from my twelve year old when we left. We are definitely going back next summer.

Very Special destination on the Colorado River / Utah wilderness
What a great spot. You can just feel the magic of the area. Beautiful vistas and plenty of things to do with the river, hiking, jeeping and sites nearby. I brought my kids and grandkids to stay here during a ten day stay in April 2019. Weather was beautiful and they loved exploring the rock formations, lizards and of course the resident tortoise, Kobae, right out the front door.
The kids loved the Wind Caves also, just down the road.
Tom was a perfect host. Made me feel right at home and was ready at anytime to answer questions, or provide anything I had forgotten and even provided a walkie talkie for communication. What a nice guy!
The home I rented, the last Hurrah lower house, was well furnished, comfortable beds, kitchen was well outfitted and had a great outdoor porch area for hanging out to read a book, with fire pit and star gazing at night I would definitely come here again. Loved meeting Michele and Jax too!
Thanks for sharing!

Wonderful hidden retreat!
Our expectations were exceeded with our stay at Adventure Base Camp. We ended up staying in the main house but got to look inside all the housing options including the 2 hogans. This place is something very special. Tucked far away from the tourists in Moab, it's like having the national parks all to yourself! The trek out to the house is an adventure alone. Be sure to bring everything you need with you so you don't have to run into town. The best way to spend the day is exploring the land on UTVs.... be sure to bring the toys! Tom's hospitality was fabulous.....he made sure we had everything we needed including emergency walkie-talkies since there is no cell service. The house has all the convenience and amenities you would expect in town. We were celebrating our anniversary and this was a great romantic location --- we laid under the stars every night and took in all the beauty. We even got to bring our dog for no extra fee. We loved our stay and highly recommend it!

Magic in Moab
Wow, what an incredible weekend at Last Hurrah! By far the most unique stay I have ever experienced. The home is so well crafted and the balcony looking over the Colorado river and red rocks makes for beautiful sunsets and overall incredible views.
The hosts, Tom and Collin, were super helpful and communicative. They provided detailed directions/suggestions for driving to the home and making the most of the activities provided by the land - which are endless. The hosts allowed us to use their side by side to explore otherwise unreachable locations, we kayaked down the Colorado river, the hiking is unmatched and there is absolutely zero light pollution at night. Best star gazing I or my partner have ever seen.
The drive in is a little rough, but it’s part of the experience. It also is the reason you can explore National park-type land without the crowds.
10/10 recommend this spot to anybody who enjoys desert life. We will be making a trip back this summer and can’t wait!
