We had a lovely time at Neuse Village #6. We stayed with our family, as it was my son's first time attending Camp Sea Gull, and we wanted to be close by in case of any incidents. The house is spacious, clean, and bright - wonderful nature light and the views are spectacular.
As for the location, there is a small sandy beach where children can play, and the Neuse is very calm in the morning, so it is easy to paddle board, kayak or canoe. There are some jellyfish, so if you have very small children, you need to be mindful of that.
The swimming pool is a sports pool design, meaning the deepest it gets is in the middle (around 4'6' or so). There is a seating bench on one side which my 2 year could enjoy standing on.
Lots of tree frogs on the doors, windows and porches on damp evenings, so be careful where you step. The boys enjoyed visiting with our amphibian friends, and they were fun to watch hunt insects in the evening, very successfully for the most part.
We also went to Emerald Isle one day - the public beach was easy to access, and the ferry is free and easy to use. You can get out of your car during the ride.
Overall, a quiet, clean, and peaceful retreat. Bring your fishing pole.
