This is just what we were looking for! Wonderfully stocked, updated and clean private house just steps from an unpopulated beach, with friendly people who say hello and an abundance of nature. What a retreat for our busy NY suburban family and our fur baby. “Nothing to do”, we were told… well that was exactly what we found and how amazing it was! Family time steps from the beach. Dinner in, cooking on the grill on the beautiful deck that surrounds the entire house. Watched the sunset at night on one side, saw it rise the next morning on the other. Pure beauty and enjoyment. On the beach we enjoyed the amazing horseshoe crabs, (one of the oldest species in the world with such importance to the migratory bird population and their dependence for food. Flip them over if they need help.. we did). We loved watching the harmless and very entertaining ghost crabs scurry sideways while digging holes like dogs hiding bones in the yard. We also counted the many interesting species of birds we saw each day. Our favorite was the giant Osprey who hover, and dive to retrieve fish from the water to then fly overhead back to their nests in the nearby reserve feeding their young. And if you miss the hustle and bustle…then the drive to Rehoboth or Lewes is 25 minutes and you can dine, see a movie or play mini golf. We even took a short day trip, just over an hour drive to Assateague Island to see the wild horses on the beach. Thank you Cathy and John for sharing your special home with us.
