We really enjoy this little getaway. This place was a great clean cottage with a fenced in yard. Our 2 pups had a blast. The owners take care of this place. If you’re a nature lover you may like this beach. It is not a pristine clean beach it’s a natural beach wildlife everywhere. That’s what we liked we hunted for shells and sea glass and watched the wildlife. This beach is dog friendly and that was perfect. If there’s a breeze the bugs aren’t as bad but if there is none the ticks mosquitos and horseflies are nasty . Again most of the area is a nature preserve . If you’re an outdoorsman you understand bug spray is necessary. Fishing wasn’t super when we were there but there are certain seasons and times for that but we were able to walk out onto the sand bar at low tide and find evacuated welk shells they are the great big conch looking shells . The local nature center can teach you all about these things and its worth going to see if your a bird watcher they have many areas there for bird watching. This was a cool experience. Thank you to the owners for renting your lovely cottage.

This little cottage will stay in my core memory bank for a lifetime! We stayed here for a week, and we had so much fun. The house was cute and cozy, the porch was amazing to sit and have coffee on in the morning, and everything was clean. The best part though was hands down the beach. We spent most of our time out there, and having a toddler with us the short walk to and from the house made it easy. You also can’t beat the sunsets from that beach! The only downside to the house was having no washer and dryer made it hard since things got sandy. Otherwise I cannot recommend this little gem enough!

Lovely house. Enjoyed all the fun little mermaid touches. Talked with the neighbors. Got to see the crab cages taken out and brought in. Over all a great area. Would love to come back.

check in was easy and the house was amazingly clean the dog fence was perfect and safe. Beach is right past the fence and felt private with no one around. If you are looking for a quiet relaxing vacation this is perfect.

Great place to stay!

We were in the area to visit family and always enjoy the Slaughter Beach for its quiet natural beauty. The Mermaid Cottage was clean, comfortable, and equipped with everything we needed. We will definitely be back!

Wonderful place to visit

The cottage was clean and very unique. I loved the sitting area looking out at the beach. The air conditioning was top notch. The cottage had everything you need for an amazing beach day. I will definitely be back.

Super cute cottage

This cottage was super cute and I loved the location. Fenced in yard was perfect for the dogs. Only 2 things I wish were better but wouldn’t stop me from staying here again, I wish the beds were bigger and the whole house was beautiful except the shower floor needs to be retiled. Everything else was great though and the owners respond in a timely manner

Restful and relaxing

Slaughter Beach is private, quiet, clean, dog friendly and so much more. The Mermaid Cottage was perfect for enjoying everything the area has to offer. We hope to return for many more vacation experiences!

Peaceful and well-maintained

A beautiful, comfortable and well-equipped cottage. On a peaceful beach but close enough to civilization when needed. We received very detailed instructions so we knew what to expect and what to bring along. We and our 11-month old pups (first vacation with them) loved it and plan to return! Difficult to find nicely furnished, on beach and fenced yard all in one property but this it. Exceeded our expectations!!
