"The property was very dated, with a need of a deep clean and decor update. Carpets were stained and our particular room had a unpleasent smell. Overall the property has seen better days, I guess this is reflected in a lower than average room price for the area. Staff however were very friendly and although we did not eat a main meal, the portions looked generous and other guests appeared content. "Absolutely beautiful place, in fabulous surroundings, with an interesting back story. Very comfortable bed and top quality bed linen and towels. "Lovely old building and themed rooms. We were allocated the China room as we told the hotel ahead of time we were celebrating our Sapphire wedding anniversary so it was lovely that it was all blue. My only criticism was that in hindsight, it was a very expensive hotel with no reception, no spa (we booked into the orange grove for treatments but assumed it was a proper spa with swimming pool only to find it was just rooms adjacent to the hotel.) £210 per night was a tad over the top just for a...
