Michelle was an absolute gem to work with. Super responsive, friendly, and genuinely helpful from start to finish! The place was every bit as cute as the pictures promised (and honestly, even more charming in person). This little Victorian gem was the perfect cozy spot for a relaxing weekend getaway.It’s ideal for a couple looking for a romantic escape, or even a solo traveler wanting some peace and quiet. The location is great if you’re heading to the beach for a weekend or longer stay.Highly recommend booking this one, you won’t regret it for a second! (5 stars, of course! )

Location is close to everything important in Michigan City. Right behind to the outdoor mall. Two blocks from downtown/art district. 10 minute drive to the beach and casino. Very clean inside the apartment. Would recommend to anyone who is staying in Michigan City

Dog Tolerant, NOT Dog Friendly

The owner checked in several times during our stay, and she and the handyman were friendly. However, this was not an enjoyable stay. We arrived at the 4pm check-in time, and found the handyman painting. The entire lobby was covered in plastic drop cloths, ladder and paint. He apologized & moved his things to the side, but my son and I still got paint on our clothes and luggage on the way in as everything was wet. The morning of my arrival I received an email with information regarding our stay, along with several house rules that were not included in the VRBO listing. One of which, is that pets are not allowed on any furniture and fees will be incurred if pet hair is found. By the time I knew this information, I couldn't cancel my reservation as that grace period was over, nor could I rent another place without that money. My small dog is allowed on the furniture at my home. He watches TV on the couch with me, he sleeps at the foot of my bed, inside his doggie donut bed, and has done such for 6 human years and 42 dog years. So, I spent my short 3 day stay watching TV on the hardwood floor, and listening to my dog cry while I tried to sleep, not understanding what was going on. I tried to sleep on the pull out couch so I could be closer to him, but I could not open it. I couldn't leave the property to shop or dine because I was afraid he would get on the furniture. I purchased a lint roller for checkout because I was so worried about charges. Not safe outside at night.

Bad experience

Old house, dirty, holes on the floor, dirty sheets, reported to the owner and took her 2 days to respond. Ended up buying sheets for the the because her lack of response. Do not recommend this place.

I cant think of any negatives for our stay. Michelle was in contact with us daily, making sure our needs were met. This apartment has such charm and comfort, and its just a few blocks from downtown.

The inside was nice. Our only complaint was the shower, very poor water pressure. The outside front porch and back less than desirable. Surrounding area very iffy at night to be outside. Overall, nice stay it was close to our regular stops- cherry beach, new buff etc.thanks for having us.

August getaway

The weather was beautiful. Location was great; right next to the outlet, 5 minutes to beach and restaurants, and the train station. We spent time at the beaches and also took the train into Chicago for a day. Nice place to spend a few days.

Best Spot in Michigan City!

We loved our stay at the Cozy Getaway! We brought our two large breed dogs and their dog-sitter, Furbo. If you have dogs that react to noise you'll want to be aware this space is one of 4 units in this lovely remodeled century home. We had to make the owner aware of an issue with the air conditioning not working and they promptly sent their handyman to save the day! If watching tv in bed is your idea of romance, you'll have to move the only tv though. The location is top notch with the shops and strips right outside the front door, we felt like all of Michigan City was at our disposal. We can't wait to come back for another weekend away from hustle and bustle of the city!

All in all great, but one small thing(s)

Everything was pretty stellar. Communication. Amenities. Location! All on point. One small thing, which I feel bad for even sharing because I enjoyed communicating with Michelle and enjoying the home.. but there was ants. I had them crawling on me.. while I was on the couch a couple times.. which had me paranoid etc. They ruined the mood a couple times. Their handymen came in and did a treatment for them.. but yeah, still found and killed dozens the day after etc. So yeah, Unfortunately there was ants. They were really tiny and you can tell they probably just started venturing out with the weather warming up a little. But I had to deal with them for a week. And I wish I didn't have to. Everything else was on point though.

Perfect Weekend Getaway

My husband and I stayed here for a quick weekend getaway and really enjoyed our time here! We easily walked to nearby restaurants and bars as well as the lakefront and shopping. The unit was as described, clean and offered a very comfortable bed. We had absolutely no issues and our host, Michelle, provided excellent communication throughout the entire process. We'd stay again without hesitation!

VRBO retreat

House was clean and as expected inside.Host was pleasant also. I guess our disappointment was in the area. Sadly lots of people walking by who appear without. Not their fault but so much of Michigañ City seems run down. I was really surprised. I can see improvements being made on old homes possibly for vrbos, but I wouldn't go back.

Perfect getaway

This small apartment seemed spacious with the higher ceiling, and was perfect for my husband and I with our small dog. Very clean, comfy bed, and kitchen had everything we needed. Safe neighborhood to walk in. It was a couple minutes drive to the beach. Thank you Michelle for the quick responses to any questions. We will be back!
