I booked this Vrbo for my 30th birthday trip to Mexico City, expecting it to comfortably accommodate our group of 18. Unfortunately, this ended up being one of the most stressful and disappointing travel experiences I’ve ever had.The issues started the day of check-in. At 11:30am—while I was literally on my flight—the host informed us that the property could not actually accommodate all 18 guests. This was incredibly frustrating, especially because it felt like this may have been known earlier and only communicated at the last possible moment. With some guests already arriving to drop off bags, we had no real choice but to accept a last-minute solution where part of our group was placed in a separate property not even booked through Vrbo. The entire reason we chose this listing was to stay together, so this completely defeated the purpose.When some of us arrived to drop off luggage (which we had been told was allowed starting at noon), the building staff had no idea about our reservation or any bag storage plan. After confusion and multiple conversations, we were eventually told to go up to the unit and have cleaning staff let us in. Several staff members followed us into the apartment and watched as we put our belongings down, which was uncomfortable and unprofessional.The situation escalated significantly on March 7 when we lost hot water in the morning, and then all water by early afternoon.
