I’d like to premise this review with a bit of background on our group. We were a family of 7 including my elderly grandmother who can’t go up any stairs and can’t move around without help or a walker/wheelchair. We made it clear to the host that we would need at least one bedroom and one bathroom on the ground floor that would be easy for someone like my grandma to access. The host of this property assured us the ground floor bathroom and bedroom would be accessible for someone in my grandma’s position. It was not. It was outside, inaccessible, and two stairs. Ok now for a little background about the host. A company based in Texas manages this property. Communicating with them before and during the trip was an utter nightmare. They would only communicate via the VRBO app which was entirely glitchy. When I asked them to please communicate with me through other means, they made it unnecessarily difficult (to the point where it felt intentional). Eventually, they agreed to communicate via WhatsApp but even after agreeing to do so they would often resort to VRBO which would result in me not receiving key communications. It made the whole experience very unpleasant. I felt helpless and out of control while also being in a new country for the first time. Now, as to the property. It was one of the ugliest houses we saw in Polanco. There were fans in each room but no outlets to plug them in. Ugly and dirty windows with dead bugs. Can’t flush any toilet paper down the toilet.
