A Perfect Italian Stay!Our stay at this beautiful Meta home was absolutely unforgettable. The home itself is the quintessential Italian home-charming, comfortable, full of character. It’s centrally located, just a short walk to the train station making it easy to explore.What truly made our stay special was the incredible family who owned the home. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcome, even having a cooking class that is one of our favorite memories from the trip. The hospitality, warmth and attention to detail were unmatched.If you are looking for an authentic experience that captures the heart of the Amalfi Coast, stay here. We can’t recommend it enough.

Beautiful Property with Fabulous Views in a Great Location

We stayed at Casa Dorotea May 20-26. It was a wonderful property and Lorenza was a fabulous host. We arrived late evening and she met us and helped us get settled. She and her family have lived at Casa Dorotea for generations and the property was very well cared for. She gave us restaurant recommendations and tips on how to get to Sorrento which was 4 miles away (like taking the train vs. the bus). We absolutely loved the patio and would spend our nights sitting outside taking in the views and talking about our day and planning our next. In the morning, we would wake up to the birds singing sweet songs to us, and we enjoyed the smell of the flowers and lemons as we would sip our coffee on the patio. Overall, one of the most fabulous places we've ever stayed at and hope to be able to vacation there again!! Dave and Kristi Laufenberg

Fantastic Home!

Four of us stayed at this property for 5 nights and we loved it! It's just like the pictures- gorgeous views and beautiful home. You can easily see the Mediterranean from the patio.The neighborhood is quiet and very scenic. The property owner was very welcoming and helpful during our stay. It's close to the train station in Meta and it only costs €1.5 to ride to Sorrento We would stay at this home again!

Great location, Very Tired

We are experienced travelers and booked this property for several weeks. We thought we had done our VRBO homework.. listing pictures and previous customer reviews. On a positive note the property location and AC are great. However there were several challenges. The internet support was non existent, marginal at best despite the owners attempt to improve service. At check in we were instructed by the owner not to use the kitchen range due to gas odor if turned on. We were further instructed to only cook food in the microwave which was outdated and certainly needs to be replaced. Very disappointing. The master bedroom was rendered unusable throughout our stay due to ants in the bed despite several attempts to fix the problem. Fortunately there were other bedrooms to access. The ant issue was not only confined to the master suite, it was throughout the home. There are no sunshades on the SW side of the property which rendered the dining room and patio unusable for several hours into the evening. We enjoyed our home cooked Italian dinner sitting in the family room. Our overall assessment of this property: Great location, Very Tired.

Beautiful home

This property was lovely...very spacious and decorated impeccably! One issue was ants...they were all over our bed and bathroom...made a very uncomfortable night's sleep. We purchased ant killer spray, but it didn't do the trick. We contacted host as instructed, but no answer. However, once we contacted VRBO, we were given information and an attempt was made to rectify issue.

Meta review

The place was great and as shown on the site. It was very clean set up very well with all items that we needed. We did not cook but the kitchen was well stocked if we had. The train station is within a few blocks which is great as it allowed us to go to Sorrento, Pompeii, etc. Sitting on the patio and watching the sunsets which were magnificent was one of our favorite things. Would definitely stay here again!!

Quiet and Beautiful!

This property exceeded expectations! We enjoyed the Villa, the view and the location. Very close to they train station. The property manager was welcoming and available for assistance. We will definitely return.

Beautiful spacious apartment

Unexpected extra costs were not apparent up front e.g. €100 for cleaning and having to pay for electricity. This soured out last day. We were told it was a deposit but there was never any intention of giving any back. This makes me sceptical about using you again, and let’s face it there is plenty of competition!

Wonderful Property!

Everything was fabulous! The only minor imposition was that there was no air-conditioning in the living space and kitchen only in the bedrooms. The view was better than expected and the location was perfect.

Lovely property

Quiet area within easy reach of Sorrento town. Long way down to the beach and even further back up the hill! But a very enjoyable holiday, plenty to see and do, weather and food fantastic. Apartment was lovely, owner was friendly and extremely helpful.

Great property, quiet location.

Property is great - exactly as described although read carefully - it does have air con but this is just in the bedrooms. The outside terrace is wonderful but the dining room is very exposed to the sun and gets very hot. Fans were needed in the rest of the property. Meta is quiet. There are some restaurants and small shops around but limited number. Some travel widens the choice. Piano is walkable and Sorrento is easily reached by train, the last back is 10pm. The station is conveniently close to visit Pompeii and Vesuvius, and Sorrento, and fares are very cheap. Boats go from Sorrento round the coast or there are buses but roads are windy. Overall would recommend staying here as long as you are happy using the train a fair bit.

This was the most memorable part of our Italy trip. The house was BEAUTIFUL, location was very convenient to beaches and train, and hospitality was perfect! When we come back, we will definitely stay again!

Beautiful terrace

This is a very large , comfortable and well equipped apartment. There are lovely views over the small town to the sea from The beautiful terrace. . Dorothea and her daughter Lorenza were very friendly hosts. It is convenient for visiting the Amalfi coast and a Pompeii.

Heaven in Italy

Casa Dorothea was beyond anything I imagined it would be. It was clean, beautifully decorated, the scenery is unbelievable and the access to everything was unlike any other rental property we have stayed at. Checkin was seamless and we met Dora at the entrance to the street. She gave us a tour and was gracious and understanding. We had 4 adults and 2 ,10 year olds and she was more than welcoming. The property itself is stunning, you walk in to the smell of jasmine in the large courtyard with seating. Then you climb the stairs and enter a beautiful home with views that will take your breath away. The train is up the block and you can get to sorrento in 3 short stops(train schedule is not reliable but will always arrive, bus seemed more accurate). The beach and restaurants are within walking distance and Piano di Sorrento is walking distance as well. There is coffee shop that is close to home and opens early. We even left a piece of luggage and they are sending back to the states for us. The A/C worked perfectly huge bonus!!! We can’t wait to return.

Tranquil getaway to relax and unwind

Gorgeous Italian Home

Loved this amazingly beautiful home! Even better than the pictures. Large beds, lovely decor, and vast veranda looking over the sea. Great location for bus and train travel. We were able to walk and take public transportation everywhere (including Sorrento, Positano, Naples, and Pompeii). Some great restaurants in Meta too! Would highly recommend this property!

Family stay

Casa Dorotea is a beautiful house to stay in while visiting the Sorrento area. Lorenza and her mother are wonderfully accommodating. They responded very positively by bringing us a space heater as the weather was unseasonably cool for a few days. The house is large and provided plenty of space for our family of 7. The train station is about a 5 minute walk and then it’s a short 7 minute ride into Sorrento. We found the neighborhood quite charming and very typical for Italy. The beach is an easy 20 minute walk. There is a grocery store nearby but its open hours weren’t always convenient. We would definitely recommend Casa Dorotea for anyone planning to explore Sorrento, Pompei, or anywhere in the Campania region.

Beautiful Apartment

This apartment is the most beautiful place I have ever stayed. The coffered ceilings and orange groves are enchanting. We had a little trouble finding the parking, Meta does not have great cell coverage. I also wish the heat had been working, it was Christmas week and my 85-year old mother was uncomfortable without it.

Amazing place!

Wow! It’s the best word to describe this home! Everything was as beautiful as the pictures and more. Lorenza and her daughter were kind and helpful and we wish we would have booked a longer stay. You will not be disappointed! If we had stayed longer we certainly would have booked a dining experience or cooking lesson. This home will be my inspiration to return to this area of Italy, hopefully very soon. Thank you for sharing this wonderful home with us!!

Better than the Photos

This property is amazing. It has views of the Sea, which are not obvious from the photos. Owners daughter Lorenza was so helpful and the owner Dora cares about quality. The Meta lite rail station is a short walk away.
