We had an amazing stay at Villa Romantica! The rooftop terrace was perfect for coffee every morning. Enjoyed lounging by the pool and napping in the hammocks in the afternoon. Lots of space to spread out and read a book, play family games, have a nice meal. We loved all the attention to detail and the history of the property. Villa Romantica is centrally located and walking distance to everywhere we wanted to explore in Merida. Natalie was quick to respond to any questions and offered many suggested activities for our family. We also loved the filtered water available and when needed A/C in bedrooms was nice. I would 100% recommend a stay there!!

The place to stay in Merida!The location was great; everything in the historic district was within walking distance. There was a coffee shop/bakery literally next door for breakfast or lunch. Ubers were plentiful, with most rides arriving within five minutes.The house was unique in our experience. It was beautiful, spacious, and very clean (no bugs!). The pool area and garden was open to the sky, flowing seamlessly into the living area and kitchen. The bedrooms were quiet and comfortable. Furnishings throughout were comfortable and in keeping with the style of the house. The kitchen and laundry were very well equipped with everything we needed.Our hosts were the most helpful and gracious we’ve ever had for a vacation rental. They recommended a local tour guide, Alejandro, for day trips, and he did a fabulous job.

Can't say enough good things about Villa Romantica, or the hosts. The Villa is as lovely and comfortable as the pictures suggest. The location can't be beat, being walking distance to many markets, plazas, and Merida's central attractions. And the hosts are the most gracious and thoughtful I have encountered over many VRBO trips -- offering tips, recommendations, and even a few provisions upon our nighttime arrival with a child.

We stayed at Casa Romantica for a wedding in Mérida. The house is beautiful, well located in downtown Mérida and quite large. It is a true colonial house with gorgeous tile work and a lot of greenery in the court yard. The roof top terrace is a very nice complement to the already abundant seating areas.We would definitely go back not only for the house but also for the kindness, availability and helpfulness of the owners.We had a great stay

Beautiful Historical Stay

This home was absolutely beautiful. The pictures do not do it justice. The beds were comfortable. The air conditioning was perfect. The details of the home were spot on. If you’re looking for a place in the middle of Merida with tons of space and a way to cool off in the middle of a hot day you found it. It was so beautiful, well functioning with many different areas for people to hang out either in the cool downstairs or beautiful roof top. AC worked well at night and sleeping was quiet and comfortable. Hosts were very helpful with local activity recommendations. We were tracking with a group from 18-81 years old and everyone was blow away with the space! Stay here you will be happy you did!

Top-Notch Villa

We loved our time in this super special and totally breathtaking home. Located in the center of town, just a few blocks from all of the main shopping and dining avenues, it is next door to the most fabulous bakery and breakfast/lunch spot (with the kindest servers!) It’s a beautifully appointed and immaculate home with tons of space for folks to spread out, but it also has great gathering areas and enjoys absolute privacy from the outside world. This renovated historic home feels totally authentic, super luxurious and supremely comfortable all at once. What a treat to spend our home-base time here after our daytime adventures out and about in the area— it was a place of respite and reset and we are grateful for the great local suggestions and clear communication from Natalie during our whole week. Gorgeous Property & Fabulous Hosts

Villa Romantica is an experience not to be missed when visiting Mérida. The home’s ideal location in the Historical Centre, architecture, and amenities set the stage for the perfect vacation. We’ve interacted with many Premier/Super Hosts through the years, but Natalie and Colum exceeded all past experiences. Their attention to detail was unsurpassed as they provided personalized concierge service to assist with planning transportation, excursions, in-home services, city exploration, dining, and more. Natalie responded to all communications in a timely manner as she went above and beyond to ensure we had a relaxing vacation. We would definitely stay at Villa Romantica during future visits.

Our BEST Experience, yet!!!

We have been renting vacation rentals in various destinations for over 15 years, now & I have to say that EVERY PART of this experience has been the BEST one EVER! And that is saying a LOT since we have had some spectacular hosts & stayed in some absolutely beautiful homes! The villa is absolutely gorgeous. The photos do not do it justice. They do a good job displaying how beautiful it is, but they cannot convey the FEELING you get standing in the courtyard or enjoying the rooftop deck. Most days, I was torn on which spot I wanted to sit & read. The whole place was clean & had everything we needed except maybe a grill would have been nice. The outside is SO unassuming...it was quite funny seeing our kids (13 & 16) as we pulled up. They were thoroughly unimpressed - it didn't improve much as we first entered the villa. LOL! But THEN I opened the doors leading to the courtyard, kitchen & pool. Their eyes were as big as saucers & they kept asking "is this ALL for us???" That was when I told them, "but WAIT! There's MORE!" & we went up to the rooftop deck. We stayed for 8 days & it got even better each day! Soco is just 2 doors down & VERY delicious for breakfast & lunch. Great coffee, too. It is a very walkable area & quite safe. In fact, I felt safer walking around Merida after dark than I would in DFW where we live. Now...let me tell you about Natalie. She was honestly like having our own personal tour guide. She answered every question, gave me tons of advice, tips &

Our party of six recently stayed at Villa Romantica in the Centro district of Merida, Mexico, and we couldn't have been more pleased with our experience. Before we arrived, our host Colum was incredibly responsive and accommodating with any questions we had. During our stay, he texted us often to make sure that our stay was perfect. One of the highlights of our stay was Colum's helpful suggestions. He provided us with a list of must-visit attractions, local restaurants, and some of the hidden gems in the area. Thanks to his recommendations, we were able to explore and experience the city and truly immerse ourselves in the vibrant culture of Merida. The villa itself was absolutely amazing. The charming architecture and tasteful decor created a romantic and cozy atmosphere that made us feel right at home. There were three bedrooms, each with an attached bath. We’re still talking about this place

First, my 6-yo wants to just move into this place and live there. :-) It was gorgeous, exactly as we expected from the photos. The hosts also go out of their way to offer ideas and suggestions during your stay. For instance, they connected us with their recommended driver, who was really more like a tour guide. He suggested different cenotes than we’d planned on seeing, and omg are we glad we listened to him! I’ve been in a lot of cenotes, including scuba diving in one, and the place he took us was like out of a movie. The hosts also suggested a massage therapist, which really helped my 70-yr-old dad when he was having hip and leg pain. I wanted to book here again for our next vacation, which was several months away, but this place was already booked! Get a spot here if you can.

The property is every bit as stunning as the photos suggest, furnished with everything a guest could need. Every detail has clearly been well considered for both aesthetics and ease of use. Beyond that, the level of support we received from Natalie from well before check-in to after we were on our way was extraordinary. Super host, super concierge doesn't begin to describe it -- the best host experience I've experienced from a vacation rental by far. Booking Alejandro for day trips to Celestun and to Izamal were also highlights. Truly a great experience.

An Oasis of Cool Calm in the City

I can't say enough positive about Villa Romantica. We have rented properties all over the world, but will never forget this oasis of cool calm near the very center of Merida. We were wowed by the online pictures, but they don't quite do justice to the scale of the place--it's huge! After hot days climbing Mayan ruins, it was the perfect place to come home to. Merida is a dense, busy city--but step through the door of Villa Romantica and you instantly relax. Nothing was missing--kitchen well equipped, beds comfy, A/C well-functioning. Natalie was responsive and eager to make sure we were happy. Don't hesitate--book this property!

Wow wow wow

This home is just incredible. So beautiful and so comfortable. The owners went above and beyond in welcoming us and providing tips for things to do with our young kids. The location is extremely walkable. The pool was too chilly for me in December but my kids had no problem. Really an incredible oasis and plenty of space for larger families or groups traveling together. Highly recommend!

Amazing stay in a beautiful home.

Walking in to Villa Romantica was breathtaking. It was hard to believe that on the other side of such a simple looking facade, was an hacienda style, instagrammable magnificence. The rustic decor, the high ceilings, the archways and the lighting in all the right places gave the house a charming and romantic vibe. The icing on the cake, was the atrium and the pool within the living space was the cherry. I don’t think it could’ve gotten better than those features… until we got to the top of the house. Wow! Really blown away… a view of perfection. The lounging and relaxation space was so well thought out with such beautiful and colorful furniture and decor. The view of the town was pretty good. I didn’t want to leave the house. Each bedroom was spacious with its own spacious bathroom and its own air conditioning unit that is a must for those really hot moments. I couldn’t recommend Villa Romantica more in your next vacation to Mérida. It was a true experience.

Magical experience

The pictures do not do this place justice, we have stayed all over the world and this is by far the best property that we have ever had the immense pleasure to stay. You walk in and everything is exquisitely decorated and everything is hand selected for you to have a perfect experience in this house. The smallest detail for your stay has been thought about, the music system with Alexa, the lighting of the courtyard, the bedrooms being so comfortable and quite (sleep is everything to us). The property manager/owner was so incredibly responsive and thoughtful. This is a historic home that has been restored to its original glory fit for the aristocratic which it was built for. My only regret was that we wished we could have stayed longer.

First the house is beautiful! Well apoointed furniture tastefully decorated. Owner communication was top notch! Close to many restaurants and points of interest. Owners even placed an order that we asked for from walmart and items were in the house. They even made restaurant recommendations. I cannot say enough about the beauty of the property and communication. Highly recommend! I have stayed in Vrbo thoughout many countries and this one falls in my top three. We will return!

A+ house, hosts and location

Everything about the house, hosts and location was amazing. Natalie and Colum were excellent hosts. Their communication was responsive and helpful, even before we had even booked the house. The house is truly amazing. If you think the pictures are beautiful, it is even better in person. Every room (and outdoor space) had so many unique design details. The downstairs king bed was very comfortable. The location was great for walking to everything - restaurants, shops, and the tree lined Paseo de Montejo. We felt 100% safe walking around the neighborhood, day or night. We visited many of the restaurants the hosts suggested, and all were amazing.

Best VRBO ever

Words and photos can’t do the Villa Romantica experience justice. The property and most of all the hosts were simply incredible. This is by far the best VRBO experience we have ever had. We rented Via Romantic for the month of February 2023. We had been to Merida several times in the past so knew how much we enjoyed the city but Villa Romantica and Natalie and Colum made us fall in love with this old colonial city. The property is very special. A beautifully renovated old colonial in PERFECT location (walk to everything…and a wonderful bakery/coffee shop 2 doors down). The rooftop garden is glorious in the morning and the evening. The plunge pool provides a lovely place to cool off after a day exploring the city or nearby ruins. Natalie and Colum have seen to every detail for their guests. The linens are lovely, the kitchen is well-equipped (although with all the great restaurants in Merida, we rarely ate at home), the laundry facilities (a malfunctioning dryer was fixed within hours) were modern and easy to operate, and bathrooms were spotless. Natalie and Colum had stocked the frig and pantry for our arrival and had them restocked during our stay. Colum even arranged to add ESPN to the TV channels so my husband could get his morning sports talk show fix. They responded immediately to any questions. We’ve never had such thoughtful, attentive hosts; they treated us like old friends from the moment we arrived. Don’t miss this very, very special experience!

Perfect place & location!

Our family of 6 including a 77 yr. old grandma and 3 children ages 10,10, 5 absolutely loved Villa Romantica. Aside from the home itself, the owners, Natalie & Column were AMAZING. They went above and beyond to ensure we had a great trip. From helping with restaurant reservations, groceries, and ultimately securing a doctors visit for our 5 year old who flew with a massive ear infection. They also helped us contact Alejandro for daily excursions and he was wonderful to work with. We cannot thank Natalie & Column enough and we will definitely be back knowing we are in such great hands. THANK YOU both!!!!
