Casa Koala was the perfect place for our month long stay in Merida. The house was equipped with everything we needed to make it feel like our home away from home. The host and everyone connected with Case Koala were awesome. They us feel welcomed went out of their way to make sure our stay was pleasant and problem free. In short, I would not hesitate to stay here again.

We had an amazing stay! The pictures exactly matched the house as did the description. The entire staff is super friendly, host spoke English (which helped me - only non Spanish speaking person in our group). And when we had questions, their responses were immediate and fully answered. Myself, and three other guests (who were born, lived in Mexico) were super impressed - that should say it all. You won’t be disappointed if you stay here.

Beautifully decorated, well-equipped, comfortable and clean house. Perfect to use as a base to explore Mérida and the surrounding areas. The hosts are super responsive, friendly and efficient. I appreciated the in-person welcome and their flexibility to let us check-in earlier than planned. Please note that the Casita bedroom, located at the end of the courtyard garden, doesn't have an en-suite bathroom. The bathroom is located across the courtyard next to the outside dining space.

This was our first time staying at a Verbo. And the first time in Merida. What a great City! We were able to check in, communicating any questions, checking out with no problems. The casa was well stocked with everything we would need or want. The thing I found most helpful was the Casa Koala book. It guided us on were to eat, how far things were, pool service, places to see, drinking water, etc. Thank you. I would come back again and recommend this place to others.

A color full and quiet place to stay.

The house has a great design, it is perfect for 2 couples. The area is quiet and safe. We walked everywhere and it is well located. They were always in contact with me and overall the stay was pleasant. Ideal to share with family.

This is a beautiful place and the owners are amazing to work with for any need. I'll list most important to us:Has a washer and dryer and iron/ironing board.AC that works for each room/area (they even provided me with a floor fan to help cool the upper bathroom extra so I didn't sweat a lot while doing my hair and makeup)Extremely comfortable beds.Cleaning crew for pool every other day (very nice and friendly)Had a bidet!!!Very quiet area and the street was not very busy.Thank you for a great stay, we really enjoyed our time.We loved staying here and will do it again soon!

This house is well laid out. A charming place that warms you to the soul beat of Merida. You're in with the locals in a truly authentic neighborhood. The house itself is full of beautiful art and texture. They layout is wonderful. We found everything we needed there. And the hosts were wonderful and responsive.

Total Immersion into Yucatan culture and community.

We could not have imagined a more positive and rewarding experience in Merida. Our expectations of the property, the neighborhood, and the community were more than met, from the time we stepped into Casa Koala until we left for the airport at the end of our stay.Michael and Becca were the perfect hosts. We found them professional, personable, and fun to talk with. They took time to meet with us, sharing interesting information about the community and the Mexican/Yucatecan culture. Casa Koala was absolutely immaculate and maintained that way by the staff for our entire stay. The concierge services provided by Yaatza and Beto were above and beyond expectations. We can't say enough about them or the housekeeping and maintenance staff. All were professional, friendly, and responsive to our questions and requests. I very special place in Merida!

We had a wonderful stay in this magical property. Convenient to the city centre and such an oasis! The courtyard and private pool was a wonderful place to relax and cool off after a busy day in the heat. The bedrooms were well appointed with comfortable beds. The kitchen was well equipped and with one dinner table in and one out we had choices of where to eat. Everything about the place was immaculate from the front room to the in-suite laundry. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay.

Gorgeous and comfortable

I did not want to leave this beautiful home away from home. It was fully equipped with everything we needed, and the design choices delighted me constantly. The king bed is memory foam and very comfortable, and the bed linens were high quality cotton.The kitchen is beautifully -equipped (and we did cook — we hosted some friends for dinner). The pool provides a refreshing dip which we used several times a day even though it wasn't terribly hot when we were there. There is very effective air conditioning in both bedrooms and in the livingroom. There are ceiling fans in every room. The washer/dryer work well. The host left plenty of supplies (TP, bathroom condiments, dish soap, sponge laundry soap, bug spray, towels, etc) for our four night stay.The whole place is a delight for the senses: beautiful tile floors, skylights, high ceilings, light fixtures, wall hangings, ceramics. The furniture is very comfortable. We were met there by Beto, who was super helpful and knowledgeable and spoke perfect English. He set up a whatsapp group with us and another person so we had two people to contact in case of any need. It turned out we needed help when we couldn't figure out how to turn on the oven. We received a response within a few minutes, and a few minutes later, someone came over to show us that we just needed to push the dial in as well as turn it. Overall, our experience was excellent. Don't miss this gorgeous oasis of calm, comfort and beauty.

Fabulous. A wonderful oasis in Merida.

We loved our stay at this house. It was easy to get to- walking distance from Santiago and the main plaza. We used the bikes on Sunday for the weekly bike ride. I loved d the pool and cooled off in the morning, midday and at the end of the day. My son, his girlfriend, my husband had wonderful sleeping quarters. The staff was so helpful and responsive. And the house was so clean. We didn’t want to leave and stayed an extra night!!!

Outstanding communication!

This is a beautifully renovated property. Everything was very clean and the owner could not have been more helpful in providing the most comprehensive guide book that we have ever received when renting from VRBO. All of the recommendations from the owner were outstanding. Our absolute favorite restaurant was Oliva Enoteca. This would be a great restaurant in any city!

If you are coming to Merida, BOOK THIS HOUSE (or any of the others that Burrro y Flauta own)!!!

My fiancée and I stayed at Casa Koala for about a month and we DID NOT want to leave! This house is breathtaking, the neighborhood is perfect, pretty much all that you could want and need is in either walking or driving distance (we used the didi app and had absolutely no issues, most rides were no more than $5 usd). There is so much to do in Centro Merida, the host Mike, Becca, and Beto make sure that you have all the information on what’s going on in the city and their favorite restaurants. Speaking of Beto, he’s our new best friend! 😆 He was so helpful, even before our trip, with any plans and questions that we had. He was so kind and so responsive and he set up day excursions for our group. We had issues with our phone service the first day we arrived and had to get Mexico phone numbers; he picked us up in his personal vehicle, took us to a local telcel, and set up both of our phones for us. We also spent our last week in Mexico at a ‘boutique hotel’ in Isla Mujeres that was terrible to say the least, we reached out to Beto for help with finding a shuttle (the hotel was very much off the beaten path) and he was very responsive, even offered for us to come back to the house in Merida until our flight and made sure that we got to our next resort safely. The cleaning and pool service was great.. there’s just not enough positive things to say about our stay, this house, and the service. We will DEFINITELY stay here again whenever we come back to Merida! There’s absolutely nothing negative to say about this house, their service, and our stay ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Great Property and Location

The pictures don't lie...everything was exactly as described. Truly magical property in a magical city! Especially liked the location (could walk to many interesting sites and restaurants) and the helpful city guide provided by the owners/property manager (Beto). Beto was extremely helpful in addressing any need that we had.

Lovely rental

My friend and I have only good things to say about Casa Koala. It was a pleasure to be greeted by Beto when our taxi pulled up and he did a great job orienting us to the house and neighborhood. The house is well-stocked and so peaceful. The only drawback is that the pool was too cold to do more than dangle our feet in. I don’t know if there is some kind of chiller used to keep it cold, but it’s really not necessary. Other than that, we loved it!

AMAZING HOME AND SERVICE

This home greatly exceeded our expectations! The home was cozy and comfortable and the property manager Beto was AMAZINGGG!!!!! Everything was so well detailed and communication between us, Beto, and the hosts were awesome! Will definitely consider staying again on our next visit! They provide literally everything for you so no need to over pack! they really helped us in a pinch as we could not find anywhere to stay when we decided to extend our Mexican vacation! Definitely recommend!

Wonderful Casa

Casa Koala is a great place to stay when you want to visit the sites in Merida and experience the Yucatanean cuisine and nightlife. Very quiet area but close enough to downtown. The bed was extremely comfortable and there was everything you needed. Alberto was always available and if you needed anything it was provided in a very timely matter. Becka provided us with the name of a vet for our dog prior to us arriving in Merida which was greatly appreciated. All in all we had a fantastic stay in a wonderful Casa in Merida. Thanks for everything.

A taste of Mexico in a modern setting.

Casa Koala was comfortable and relaxing. The house had all the modern conveniences and was designed with Mexican touches. Conveniently located in the historic district and walking distance to shops, plazas, zoo and parks. Located in a very safe and quiet neighborhood.

Very private place, great location, well equipped, excellent management

We were pleasantly surprised of quietness and privacy this casa provided. Great location. Lots of thoughts, work and efforts was put by owner(s) to restore a colonial style building and implement all modern features guests from up north use to take for granted. Very well equipped kitchen, all one would need for cooking, all utensils of good quality and in sufficient quantities. Drinking water, coffee (actually same brand from Costco we drink at home), other basic stuff as salt, pepper, etc. Very comfortable beds, quality linens, plenty of towels, shampoo, etc. Great bicycles, used them every day. Good job Becca et al!
