The was an amazing place to stay in Merida! We couldn’t have asked for more. We had such a great time by the pool that it was hard to leave. We did have a rental car so it was easier to get around and check out all the different places to eat. I will definitely be coming back here again. Highly recommended

Great home for families! The home had plenty of room and a beautiful outdoor setting. Between the pool, flor and fauna, it was a great place to relax and enjoy. Also, it was an easy trip to the central part of the city and a great hub to explore the areas outside of Merida. Fernando took good care of us and Doña Manon cooked us delicious local Yucatecan dishes. We hope to return soon!

Great communications with the host. Wonderful old hacienda, well situated for us to walk to the main square, markets etc. Although it sits on a main street, the layout with the patio around the pool was a cool peaceful retreat

The place was beautiful. Loved the location of the pool. Kitchen was convenient and had everything we needed. Each room had A/C for the hot night.The house was located far from the center but we enjoyed the walk and away from the noise. Fernando was great, answered all our questions and was a phone call away.

My family had a fantastic time in Merida and at Casa Sur. It was the perfect home and size for us (2 adults, 3 kids ages 12, 10 and 8). There is a lot to do in and around Merida and having a home base like Casa Sur is great. We could explore in the mornings and early afternoon then relax and swim before venturing back out in the evening. The on-site property manager is incredibly responsive and helpful. The hosts were also gracias and checking in to make sure we had a great experience. I definitely recommend Merids and Casa Sur!

Special place

More beautiful in person. Lots of outdoor lounging which is why we loved this particular property. The pool was so great. The tropical plants on this property are amazing. Home had anything we could want. The fans and AC were perfect throughout the house and Casita. Worth the stay. Took Uber everywhere so no need for a rental car. Thanks for sharing your magnificent home with us.

Beautiful to look at but NOT CLEAN

We had multiple issues with electrical, no hot water and master shower was beyond filthy. House is beautiful but needs a better house manager and maid. Sheets were not good, pillows were filthy. Grounds need lots of attention and pool was not clean either. Rate is great but lots of things were lacking

Merida retreat

Wonderful oasis hidden behind an unassuming door on the street. Something interesting and beautiful to discover in every part of the property. Neighborhood was friendly. Uber is a great way to get around in the city.

Mostly good

A beautiful property, with a lovely pool, kitchen and casita. The neighborhood is very authentic-you are not up north in the touristy/wealthy area.A few things were missing, like a lighter that functions to light the stove. We were told that a person would come daily to care for the property, but that didn’t happen, perhaps because of confusion. The neighborhood is very authentic with crumbling sidewalks and real Meridians living there. Neighbors are friendly and kind. We felt totally safe. The water was safe to drink, plenty of towels and hot water. Be prepared for mosquitos and a resident mouse. One of the bathrooms needs attention to the sink plumbing-it leaks under the sink onto the floor, and the sink doesn’t drain. The owners are kind and flexible and communicative!making a falling hazardfalling hazard

Loved this home

Imagine opening the door to paradise! pictures on the app don't do it justice! WOW factor The beds very comfortable and air conditioning was great to have.Reusable grocery bags were great.Bring lots of bug spray and after bite cream.Mosquitos were bad but it was because of the amazing vegetation in the yard!We placed all the unrefrigerated food in cabinet at night-no critter problems.The tv in the house was great, bit of trouble signing in with our own accounts, we brought our Chromecast and streamed onto the TV and viola it was great.Cynthia was the house keeper and she did a fabulous job. She came in every Tuesday and Friday. Have google translate as she only speaks Spanish.Fernando is the main guy and we contacted him through what's app-note on the fridge with his number.Use paseos in the city, so easy and inexpensive.Centro was great to walk around and we felt very safe everywhere we went.Uber is your friend and it's very inexpensive, download the APP.We took the Tren Maya from Cancun airport to Merida and then an Uber to the house-approx 10 CanadianMake sure to book at least XL for a group of 4 or more and mention luggage when booking.This is not like home with the larger SUV'sThe Train was wonderful too, very well run, clean and inexpensive, approx 70 Canadian each per person, free shuttle to and from terminals.You have to book on line.We had great contact with the owners of this grand property and appreciated his timely responses.

Stunning home for family holiday

Nice property but avoid during the hot months

Impressive décor. However, they need to address cooling issues. We could not enjoy the property due to lack of efficient air conditioning. The two bedroom ac units functioned ok. The third unit in the separate suite struggled to get the room cool. The kitchen unit was horribly inefficient. The small kitchen adjoining family room ac unit did not work. All other shared spaces were entirely open to the outside, including the kitchen. The oppressively hot August months made it extremely challenging to occupy any shared area as a family. We arrived at a house that was extremely hot with no instructions for the ac controllers. It was a process to get any working units going, operation isn’t obvious. One controller lacked a battery, and another one required a code to use. Overall, the hacienda was clean and was well stocked. However, after the initial welcome to an uncomfortably hot house we discovered one of the beds had hair/eyelashes on it. Not ideal for sheets that are supposedly fresh. I was also disappointed in the lack of response from the owner. I reached out with my concerns. I did not hear back until multiple messages later. He did share that they were having a family issue. However, to date, I have not heard anything back from him about my concerns. If you are looking for a home to enjoy time together as a family, reconsider Casa Sur during any of the hotter months in Merida. We ended up leaving and finding another option to stay the rest of our time in Merida.

Romantic Property in the heart of Merida

We LOVED our stay at this property. It is a perfect blend of curated, old-school Yucatan with beautiful artwork and furnishings and modern amenities. Soft, comfy beds, a wonderfully appointed kitchen, fluffy towels, nice size pool, and lovely indoor/outdoor living. We enjoyed having coffee out by the pool. The time of year that we visited was very hot (April) so we appreciated all of the fans. There was an issue with the internet the first few days we arrived, but the hosts and on-site manager were very communicative and had it fixed fast. The property is in a very tropical location, so be ready for insects and such. The property had good pest mitigation and screens on the windows, etc. Great walkability into the city center and easy for UBER drivers to find us. We highly recommend this house!

This stay was magical. We enjoyed Casa Sol and highly recommend. Great location, easy to navigate to all the hot spots. My wife enjoyed all the fun decor and artwork through out the house. The pool and outdoor space made our trip special. Just beautiful.

Slice of Merida Heaven

We truly had an amazing experience staying at this lovely home in Merida. The pool and porch areas were beautiful and perfect for cooling off on the hotter days. The hammock by the pool is a slice of paradise. We easily all fit in the home and having a separate casita was nice. Communication with the home homeowner was easy and always had quick responses. The groundskeeper was amazing-helped us every day, gave us advice for adventuring in the town, fixed anything that didn’t work. We had a rental car which made getting around easy and quick access to the beach but the house was a great location to easily use Uber as well. Would highly recommend this house-it will help you have a true Merida experience.

Gorgeous home in South Merida

The home is absolutely gorgeous in every detail. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay there with the pool, the large kitchen, and the multiple places to relax. It was a holiday weekend, and we would have liked to see the house manager a little more frequently, but that was understandable. The house is a 25 to 30 minute walk from the center which we enjoyed as we are all walkers. Taxi cabs and the local bus are also very available. all in all, a highly recommended home to visit Merida and Yucatan!

Such a luxury

We loved our stay at Casa Sur. It’s so lovely inside and outside in the garden. The pools was used many times a day, as it was very warm while we were in Merida. The kitchen is well stocked, there were plenty of pillows and towels, and we really appreciated the purified water and ice available in the fridge, and drinking water at the kitchen sink and casita kitchenette sink. Alex takes amazing care of the home 4 times a week, and is responsive and communicative, despite limited English. We were able to enjoy a free walking tour in the center of Merida, and drove to Uxmal archeological zone, the chocolate museum (the monkeys were a fun surprise!), Cenote Kankirixche, and Hacienda Mucuyche. A fun excursion that worked out well on our own without the high fee. Hire a guide at Uxmal and you’re all set. We really wanted a chance for our kids to get a more Mexican and Mayan cultural experience, away from the resorts and big hotels. Merida was a great place and we recommend this home.

House was a dream

We had the most wonderful time staying at David and Gary’s gorgeous house. The backyard courtyard with the beautiful pool felt like a dream. The house had everything we needed and was absolutely beautiful and spotless. We loved everything about our trip and the house. Alex was super responsive and fixed the small little issues we had. Beautiful house

This property is as beautiful in person as it is in the photos, and a very comfortable base from which to explore the culture of the Yucatan. The hammock by the pool is reason alone to book this place! It is easy to get from the house to the central historic square and tons of restaurants on foot in cooler times of the day or by a short, inexpensive Uber. There are many thoughtful touches like an outdoor bluetooth speaker, bug spray, and a comprehensive manual of suggested restaurants and things to do. Highly recommend.
