Great property with plenty of space for cooking, relaxing, congregating both indoors and outdoors. Lovely views of the lake and mountains and, if traveling with car, great access to grocery stores, pharmacy, etc.Bike path to Menaggio/Lake Lugano easily accessible from house. Excellent bar/gelateria few doors down. Easy to reach hiking trails to nearby waterfall and peaks overlooking Lake Como.Place is well-equipped with everything needed for cooking, dining, and drinking.Extremely responsive manager, George, provides excellent service.Negatives:- Place could benefit from a bit of TLC (range, sink faucets, etc)- Electrical service has some issues, but they are manageable with George’s input- Location is on quite a busy road with buses, trucks, motorcycles, and cars- Menaggio waterfront is a 30 minute walk downhill. The return walk is 100% uphill and can be too much for some people.Overall, highly recommend for larger groups.

Beautiful Historical Villa

The property was a joy. The views, the comfort, the historical deals where all an absolute pleasure. We were a large group celebrating a milestone birthday. It fit perfectly for our needs. We had a few issues with the gate at check in, but George was quick to respond and great to work with. Please note, this is a historical villa, so you will have the issues that go along with an older home, but none distracted from our stay, just added character. Thank you for an amazing time! We hope to stay again in the future.

Terrific Place

Beautiful old villa in a wonderful neighborhood outside of Menaggio. It was just what we were looking for. The manager was very responsive to all communications. Because the villa is so old, there were some tech issues that the manager was quick to resolve (tripped circuits when cooking, internet). Bedrooms had cold AC. The town was a pleasure to explore, including a woodsy trail to a WWI memorial overlooking the lake. Manager put us in touch with some wonderful chefs who cooked in the villa. Menaggio is a great town.

Charming and Magical Memories

This villa is stunning and the pictures of the views don't do it justice - panoramic views of the lake. The setup is perfect for a large group with most bedrooms having AC during the summer. The host was super responsive and helpful when booking activities and things to do around Menaggio. Would highly recommend a car and I look forward to hopefully visiting again soon!

Belle maison … au bord de la route

Belle maison mais au bord de la route extremement passante et bruyante, à l abord d un virage chaque camion qui passe klaxonne. La maison a un joli style bien décorée mais manque sérieusement d entretien général… que ce soit du mobilier de jardin aux petits équipements de la maison…difficile de prendre une douche dans les 4 salles de bain en même temps. L accès au lac à pied est un peu complexe 2 km d escalier et de route dangereuse. Néanmoins la maison est spacieuse nous y avons séjourné à 13, et la vue est sympa.

Lovely view

Charming house with lovely view. Positives were the open plan central floor where we could all meet, and the view from the top floor bedroom. Negatives were the regular power cuts, the smaller bedrooms are hot without AC, and the walk to Menaggio is 30 minutes and of questionable safety in sections. Overall we had a delightful stay, a great time was had by all and George was really helpful !

Great stay

The villa was beautiful and we would stay there again. The only downside was that there isn’t a great AC system in every room including the primary room, so it was quite hot. That being said, there were plenty of rooms with cold AC on the first level. The property manager was responsive and the check in and check out process was smooth.

Gorgeous and stately house with breathtaking views.

The walking path to town just 20 mt. north of the villa on Via Rimembranze makes all the difference. Stroll through the quaint Croce neighborhood then follow the yellow arrows onto the cycling paths, and eventually the cobblestone lanes into Menaggio. Beautiful scenery at every turn, quite roads, bird calls, goats, local runners, and a fair number of bicycles too, of course. We loved the quaint old-time farm just outside our windows across the street with sheep, more goats, and chickens. Overall, the house is a blissful step into luxury and unbelievable beauty and charm.The road out front can get busy, but the house has lots of quite nooks and airy spaces for entertaining. We ate at La Baita and La Barcarole. Two local restaurants near the house with authentic local food and excellent prices. The breathtaking views from just about every room in the villa are worth highlighting once again. George and his staff were super friendly and attentive. A blissful and unforgettable vacation in one of the most stunning places in the world. Vibrant colors, great energy, and food. And everywhere the shimmering glowing lake and majestic mountains. Highly recommended!!

Villa Sofia has the European appeal. It’ spacious and the scenery is beautiful.

George was so helpful with check in and with the problems that we had with the hot water tank. The drawback was the location of the house. The bus didn’t show after 1 1/2 hrs of waiting. There are no taxi’s to be found. You must rent cars but pulling out of their driveway is very difficult.

Menaggio base camp

The location was just on the edge of busy busy Menaggio on a hillside. Really nice covered dining areas poolside. Pool area was sufficient after asking for different furniture/pump issue. Indoors was beautiful. Very cool old style interior. Kitchen was fully stocked. Only three bedrooms were air conditioned …so I think a move to all rooms having it is warranted. We enjoyed the incredible views of Lake Como from our windows and balcony. Local restaurants were fabulous! There’re was zero trash pick up for 11 people for a week. I thought that was odd. Also we had great difficulty with the operation of the main driveway security gate. It was unreliable at best. The property itself is incredible!!! George was there to greet us and orient us to house/property. He responded when we told him the poolside chairs were broken. New ones were sent over promptly. Pool should be cleaned daily too. Millions of bugs in pool every morning. We cleaned it ourselves. Overall an amazing experience and felt very special while staying there. The Longs

Memorable stay in Menaggio

Sarah is an amazing property owner - she went above and beyond to make our stay memorable. The villa is beautiful and the pool was really nice. Description should let you know that location requires a rental car. We loved the beautiful hiking path to town. Overall we loved this villa and overall experience.
