My husband and I booked a weekend getaway after a few stressful months. The location was advertised as "secluded", "peaceful" and "private" which was exactly what we were looking for.
Unfortunately, upon arrival to our Olinda "Penthouse", we found the room unkept, bed slept in and dirty towels left in the bathroom. We contacted the host who eventually got back to us, advising housekeeping hadn't been to clean after the last guests left and they were not local to come and amend the issue themselves. So they offered an "upgrade" to their Enchanted Tower. We viewed the room, and at least found the bed to be made and fresh towels available, so we accepted the change in room. Unfortunately, they neglected to mention the tower was shared space with a room below which was occupied by others. The walls are thin, and while I don't believe the other occupants were intentionally being loud, we unfortunately could hear ever foot step, every door open and close, their tv, and mumbles of their conversation all day and into the night. We felt as "secluded" as you would staying in cheap motel room, which considering the price of this accommodation, is not what we were expecting.
While Olinda is such a lovely place and the surrounding forest was beautiful to see, unfortunately this was not the "peaceful" and "private" getaway we so desperately needed. The host however was lovely, did check in with us and seemed genuinely apologetic about the circumstances.
