Beautiful, peaceful villa

We had the best time at the villa! Iluh took amazing care of us and attended to all our needs. The only issue was the bugs that came in around sunset and shops being quite hard to get to. Overall we had a wonderful stay and can’t wait to come back!

The staff were excellent, super friendly and kind. Communication with the owner was superb, they were able to help with anything that needed to be done quite rapidly. House was absolutely stunning. I want to go back as soon as I can!

Our stay at the Boathouse in Melaya was amazing! The house is exactly as pictured and beautiful! I can’t rave enough about the staff. They are absolutely amazing and so accommodating. The only complaint I have is how remote it is. If total peace and quiet is what you’re looking for then you will be thrilled. We would definitely stay there again if we go to Bali. It’s nice to Spend half your time in Kuta and then end your vacation in the seclusion of the Boathouse.

Overall a good vacation for 4 weeks. But i would not book 4 weeks in a row again, maximum 2 weeks. Straff is good, food is good, house is good, beachhouse could have a cleaner kitchen.

Peaceful but a little too remote for our family

Villa is clean and just as advertised, housekeeping Staff were very efficient and helpful The beach was a disappointment due to the amount of detritus washed up on the shoreline and this stopped us going in the sea, but the pool was great. Probably a bit too far away from restaurants (40 minutes) for us but the meals cooked by the staff were good.

mooi huis, matige beleving

De aankomst in het huis was niet erg hartelijk. Er werd snel ingecheckt en daarna werden we snel alleen gelaten. Weinig uitleg. Het welkomst diner bestaat uit een beetje nasi met een paar kleine stokjes saté. Mijn man is hier na ongeveer een uur ontzettend ziek van geworden. Pas na ruim een dag zonder voedsel ging het weer wat beter. Dit is gelukkig niet meer voorgekomen. Toen ik door eerdere opmerkingen op deze site de volgende dag in de keuken ging kijken trof ik in de koelkast allerlei etenswaren aan die niet afgedekt waren, de koelkast was niet schoon. Na dat ik hier iets van gezegd had is dat niet meer voorgekomen. Wel trof ik na een paar dagen weer onafgedekte frituurolie aan in het aanrecht kastje. De menu kaart bestaat uit veel westerse gerechten. Wraps, pizza -gemaakt van wraps- pasta - gemaakt van mie en cordon bleu. De kokkin was nog maar twee maanden zonder begeleiding aan het werk wat jammer is omdat ik denk dat ze nog veel kan leren. Ze is erg vriendelijk en leergierig. Het huis zelf is schoon maar het strand voor het huis zeker niet. Er ligt enorm veel afval wat het gewoon vies maakt om er te lopen laat staan te zwemmen. In de omgeving is echt niets te doen. Het enige restaurantje dat op het strand is hebben we één keer bezocht. Twee derde van de menukaart was er niet en wij waren de enige gaste. Ook zijn we een keer 's avonds naar pemuteran gegaan, bijna een uur enkele reis met de taxi. Daar zijn wel veel restaurants. We hebben een scooter gehuurd bij het huis die we nadat de gladde banden waren verwisseld veel hebben gebruikt.. Negarra en Pemuteran zijn dan goed te doen. Tussen 45 min en een uur rijden. Ook een tripje naar Menjangan is hier vandaan goed te doen Wij hadden de trip geregeld bij het huis en dat was prima verzorgd. Ook het zwembad is mooi en groot. Wat jammer is is dat het internet echt heel veel storing heeft of erg traag is. Daarnaast is het erg onplezierig dat je elke keer opnieuw met gebruikersnaam en wachtwoord moet inloggen , ook al na vijf minuten. Er zijn heerlijke ligbedden bij het zwembad maar een lekkere stoel voor in de avond is er niet. Alleen harde stoelen. Als laatste wil ik toch ook nog vermelden dat het water uit de kraan zo ongelooflijk vies ruikt dat hoewel het uit een natuurlijke bron komt zeker niet prettig is om te gebruiken voor de douche. Wij zijn al diverse keren op Bali geweest en hebben het altijd een voorrecht gevonden om in een huis te verblijven maar dit huis kan ik niet aanbevelen.

Most beautiful house, with the most beautiful people.

We stayed in the AMAZING villa for 9 days, two adults with our three youngsters (12,14,16). Prior to our stay, I wrote Egon if maybe we could rent the house without the staff, since I consider myself a very private person - especially on my vacation. We agreed to give it a go, and I must say, that the presence of Rosie and Komang, was not at all intrusive. What a rare talent to be very present and invisible at the same time! Rosie is just the most competent and sweet cook and housekeeper ever - making us all feel welcome and at home. (and the food is great!!) We also went on a memorable boattrip to Menjangan Island for the best snorkeling!! The guys with us made it a wonderful and safe experience even though our daughter was a bit scared. Finally, THANK YOU Komang for your kind gesture from the temple on our departureday, You will be remembered, and we sincerely hope to return again! Cannot recommend a stay in this house enough!! (Only downside would be the problem with garbage on the beach...something that probably needs a "largerscalesolution" ; )) Best Regards, Kamilla∋els

Sehr schöne gut ausgestattete Villa, am feinen Strand, hervorragendes personal

Vielen Dank das wir in dieser Villa unseren Traum verwirklichen konnten. Die Zimmer sind sehr gut ausgestattet, gepflegt und sauber. Das Personal hat uns täglich jeden Wunsch erfüllt. Der Pool, die Liegen und die Nähe zum Strand - einfach perfekt. Mit den Scootern war es uns möglich die Umgebung zu erkunden. Wir können diese Region für Ruhe suchende und wissbegierige nur empfehlen. Wenn man englisch sprechen kann, kommt man auch mit den Landsleuten in Kontakt.

My husband & I recently stayed for our honeymoon. We did a couple activities through them but honestly we spent majority of our time here at the villa! We absolutely loved every aspect of it. We didn’t do much cooking or cleaning. We relaxed a lot & that was enough for us! Their hospitality is great!

Fabulous!

We, 2 adults and 2 young children, spent a week in the Beach House. From arrival to departure, it was perfection. A bit of a trek to get there, but worth every bit of a it. The villa is stunning, the pool incredible and the staff outstanding. The maintenance staff works hard to keep the beach clean and free from the unfortunate debris that floats over from Java and that was much appreciated. We were looking for relaxation and family time and we could not have achieved better anywhere. We are used to tropical vacations in Hawaii and the Caribbean and I can say, without hesitation, that this villa was the best we have ever stayed at or even seen. Thank you!

Fantastisch en unieke ervaring op het authentieke deel van Bali; TOP!

Wat een lieve, behulpzame mensen! Iedereen heeft hier het beste met je voor en helpt je om het verblijf tot een fantastische ervaring te maken. De locatie aan het strand met het zwembad is in een woord geweldig. De zaken worden juist voorgespiegeld, dus alleen maar lof. We willen hierbij nog de mensen bedanken met in het bijzonder de manager en onze chauffeur / gids. Een aanrader voor een ieder die het echte authentieke Bali wil ontdekken. Villa: moderne stijl, sfeervol ingericht, ruim opgezet, goed onderhouden en luxueus. Personeel: vriendelijk, behulpzaam, uniformen in Balinese stijl, koken 3 keer per dag voor je en maken de villa en het zwembad elke dag schoon. Eten: lekker, uitgebreide menukaart, Balinese eten is aanrader. Locatie: direct aan het strand, uitzicht op Java en de vulkanen, rustige omgeving, in de buurt van het natuurpark. Excursies: Menjangan Island en Ijen vulkaan bezocht. Beide aanraders. Ook aapjes onderweg gezien. Samengevat: leuke villa, geweldige vakantie, heerlijk genoten.

Amazing! Relaxing but also a adventure.

We’ve booked this villa because we wanted a remote villa with some privacy but also like to do some activities. The staff is very friendly, willing to help and kind. Their English is good and clear for communication but not great for conversation. The swimming pool, bedrooms and villa gets cleaned every day. We fell in love with the great view from the villa. Waking up with a view of the sea, the beach, the horizon and Java is just magical! The first days we decided to relax at the villa and take our time. Along the day we were able to see some locals from the villa. You can see the local fishermen in Balinese boats in the sea or a farmer walking his cows, just amazing. Being able to see the Balinese culture from your doorstep is incredible. The staff prepared our meals to our special wishes. We are vegetarian and gave some extra instructions to the staff for the meals. They were understanding and after some help they prepared our meals just as we wanted. The manager organized some activities for us. We wanted to see the temples, monkeys, waterfalls, menjangan island and the ijen volcano. After he gave us some extra tips for the preparation they organized all the activities. We get picked up from the villa by one of the local drivers. He drove us around and was able to give us some extra information. For the Ijen volcano they arranged a special tour guide who was spoke very good English. He knew all about the nature and animals and was very kind. I can really recommend the total experience. Overall we had an amazing time. At the end we had a satisfied feeling. Rested out but also saw a lot of the country. Thank you all the help and hopefully till the next time :)

Helaas geen paradijs

In december hebben wij 3 nachten gelogeerd in deze villa. Ja de villa is heel mooi, met een lekker zwembad en prachtig uitzicht. Maar daar is dan ook alles mee gezegd. Wij keken enorm uit om ons hier te laten vertroetelen. Helaas is het personeel niet bekwaam. Allereerst de hygiëne: In de keuken plakte alles wat ik aanraakte, de grond, het aanrecht, de magnetron, de koelkast en geen wonder het stikte van de mieren. In de koelkast: geopende potjes met schimmel aan de randen, verrotte limoentjes, beschimmelde kaas, ravioli met schimmel van meerdere weken. In het gootsteenkastje een kommetje met onduidelijke inhoud en daarnaast een oud pannetje met dito inhoud. Juist daarvoor hadden de dames onze wensen voor ons diner opgenomen. Ik wist dan ook niet of het wel verstandig was om hier te eten. De slaapkamers: vlekken en haren op de lakens, op de binnenkant van het raamkozijn uitwerpselen van gekko's, stof onder de bedden, wc niet echt schoon. Ook op de badkamervloer overal haren. Na foto's gemaild te hebben van wat ik aangetroffen had, stond de eigenaar op de stoep om te komen kijken. Hij beaamde dat de inhoud van de koelkast echt niet kon en ook de inhoud van het gootsteenkastje moest daar weg (werd kennelijk gebruikt om de lunch van het personeel in de bereiden). Hierop heeft hij 1 van zijn personeelsleden gestuurd om samen met ons personeel schoon te maken. Douchen moest met verschrikkelijk stinkend water, leek wel rioolwater. Personeel vond het kennelijk ook stinken want die hadden zonder dat we er iets van hadden gezegd al van die geur dennenboompjes opgehangen. Toen kwam het eten. Het eten van mijn man mij een standaard nasi omdat ze niet de ingrediënten konden krijgen die zo nodig hadden was niet super maar ok. De pizza van onze kinderen: een Margarita pizza, was zo pittig, waarschijnlijk een tabasco achtige saus gebruikt i.p.v. van gewone tomatensaus. Gelukkig hadden we ook nog een cake besteld en die was ook ok. De volgende morgen gingen we pas rond 10.00 u ontbijten, we hadden alle vier nog last van de jetlag. Helaas had ons personeel de eieren al een aantal uren eerder gebakken!!! Koude eieren dus met water, geen koffie of thee en jus was niet te koop in het dorp. Gelukkig had ik de dag voorafgaand bij een supermarkt inkopen gedaan, want de beloofde gevulde koelkast met drankvoorraad was leeg! Voor het maken van de sandwiches werd de hulp ingeroepen van het personeelslid van de eigenaar! Hierna zijn we op zoek gegaan naar eetplekken elders

Heerlijke luxe villa voor langere periode

We hebben 4 weken in villa Boathouse verbleven en onze ervaring kan ik in 1 woord beschrijven: Super! Eerst waren we een beetje sceptisch vanwege een bepaald review van onze Duitse buren, maar die komt absoluut niet overeen met onze ervaring. We zijn netjes opgehaald door de auto van Beachhouses in Denpasar en als eerste zijn we gestopt bij een Westerse supermarkt om nog gauw Westers eten in te slaan (stevig bruin brood, kaas, hagelslag etc. ). De villa ligt namelijk niet in een toeristisch gedeelte en echt Westerse producten zijn daarom niet altijd makkelijk te krijgen. Echter, je leert zo wel het echte Bali kennen en elke dag krijg je verse producten voorgeschoteld. Je vindt overigens 3 km verderop gewoon de eerste kleine supermarkten. Onderweg hebben we heerlijk geluncht aan zee. Een goede onderbreking van de rit, want 120 km rijden op Bali kun je niet vergelijken met onze autowegen. Hier hebben ze echt geen snelwegen en er is veel vrachtverkeer op de weg. Even stoppen voor een versnapering is dan ook absoluut een aanrader. Het personeel heeft ons ontzettend warm ontvangen met een lekker welkomstdrankje en ’s avonds een welkomstdiner. Koffers werden netjes naar de kamers gebracht en we kregen een rondleiding door de villa. En toen kon onze vakantie echt beginnen! De villa is met smaak ingericht en voorzien van alle gemakken. Elke dag wordt de villa goed schoongemaakt en ook het zwembad. De dames koken 3 keer per dag voor je en het smaakte allemaal goed. De menukaart geeft een heleboel suggesties, maar het personeel kan ook andere gerechten klaarmaken. Je betaalt voor de ingrediënten van de boodschappen (prijzen zijn hier veel lager dan in het Westen) en voor de benzine om de boodschappen te halen. Ook namen ze voor ons andere kleine boodschappen mee. We hebben 4 weken genoten in Boathouse: Lekker gezwommen in het zwembad, uren op de zonnebedden gelegen en in de gazebo, uitstapjes gemaakt (snorkelen, vulkaan, dolfijnen, waterval), genoten van de zon, uitzicht, natuur en de rust, leuke mensen ontmoet en heerlijk gegeten. En niet te vergeten: we voelden ons enorm welkom en in de watten gelegd door het personeel.

Fantastisk og uforglemmeligt

Det lækreste hus, alle viste billeder lever 100% op til forventingerne. Omgivelserne er smukke og fredfyldte. Personalet på stedet er utrolig venlige og service-minded .. Absolut en fantastisk dejlig ferie.

Wunderschöne Villa - braucht aber mehr Pflege

Eine wunderschöne Villa in einer sehr ruhigen Gegend. Perfekt zum Erholen. 10 km zum Einkaufen. Personal super freundlich, nur leider nicht ausgebildet. Bei diesem Preis erwartet man einen sehr guten Service. Die Villa wird nicht gepflegt. Amaturen völlig verkalkt, Toiletten werden nicht geputzt, waren voller gelber Flecken bei unserer Ankunft. Nach 3 Tagen mussten wir darum bitten, die Mülleimer zu leeren. Pooltücher voller Flecken. Alles wirkte schon recht abgewohnt - das ist normal bei diesem Klima, daher muss es gepflegt werden. Das dies möglich ist, zeigen viele andere Villen. Man muss eben ordentlich putzen und nicht nur mit einem Besen kurz durchfegen. Der Pool wurde aber sehr gut gesäubert jeden Tag - ein Genuss dort zu schwimmen. Den Strand nutzten wir nicht, da dieser voller Müll war und nicht schön anzusehen. Das enttäuschendste war allerdings das Essen. Das schlechteste was wir je auf Bali gegessen haben. Wir bezahlten nicht wie angekündigt, nur die Lebensmittel - sondern höhere Preise als normal üblich hier, plus hohe Benzinkosten, die in keinem Verhältnis zur Fahrstrecke und Kraftstoffverbrauch lagen. Das unfassbarste allerdings war unsere Abreise: Uns wurde ein Auto vorgestellt und wir wurden gefragt, ob dieses ok sei für die Fahrt zum Flughafen. Ein schönes, neues, gepflegtes Auto von außen und innen. Was dann aber kam am nächsten Tag, ist eine absolute Frechheit. Eine alte Klapperkiste. Total verdreckt von innen und nach Zigarette stinkend. Wir haben heut noch Flecken von schwarzer Schmiere an unseren Hosen. Es war wirklich widerlich. Die Villa wird leider nicht mehr lange schön aussehen, wenn sie weiter so vernachlässigt wird. Wir würden sie nicht weiter empfehlen. Es ist definitiv keine 5 Sterne Unterkunft.

Fantastic!

Perfection! This is the best word to describe this villa. It is well designed, very modern with a personal touch of the owners that makes you feel like it is your own home. The pool was enticing and big shower was awesome! Overall, a wonderful experience! We had a lovely stay on Bali and would recommend this villa to anyone looking for a breakaway in a delightful setting. The Villa is next to gorgeous beaches and overlooks the coast. The facilities were terrific, the villa was very well equipped and super clean. Boat house villa is highly recommended by us.

Dreamhouse!

The experience at the villa was something we would cherish for years to come. The location is beautiful, the villa is superb, very clean and just as shown in the pics. The pool was great and the beach was a constantly changing scene that made for great walks along the black sand. The Staff at the villa was extremely hospitable and warm, and it made our stay all the more awesome. They cook our meals every day very well. Our stay of 14 nights was simply fantastic and we totally enjoyed our stay. If you are looking for a place to relax, someone to cook and do your laundry, and having some time to get through all of those books that you haven't gotten to read this is truly the place to go.

I have been renting homes on this site for over 10 years. I would have to say this was my absolute favorate. The home was beautiful. The staff was amazing. This was the most relaxing vacation i have ever been on and i will be back.

remote place for relaxing with place for improvement

I stayed here with my girlfriend for 6 nights. The villa is in a very remote area, clean and in good condition, directly at the beach. The staff is very friendly and helpful! Massages are OK but not professional. The food was unfortunately not of good quality. The taste is OK, but we had twice stomach ache and ones diarrhea. The transport they offer is to expensive and you have to bargain all the time, which was not nice. The place deserves 5 stars but the food quality and the high charges for tours and transport (for Bali) bring that place down to 3 stars. I recommend to rent a scooter as it is easy to find the major attractions around.
