Sand is tough to jog on if you're a runner. But the water is beautiful and the view is stunning. Just be prepared to be approached (kindly) by many, many vendors up and down the beach.

Normally the beach is great for playing in the surf for kids and adults but there was a freak storm that was some debris to the shore and w e were not allowed in. Never happened befor in all our 20 trips to Medano beach. Water was warm in October.

Be careful of strong undercurrennts. I got tossed on my bu.. when walking in only about a foot of water. also, while snorkeling we had to work hard not to go with the current.
