Great stay during hot week

There were up to 9 of us at various points, and my concern about a smaller house was unfounded. The listing was clear about the relatively small size of the house given the large number of bedrooms, but it worked very well for our group. The house was clean, nicely furnished and well appointed with kitchen ware, an important factor as we love to cook. We have a dog so walking her somewhere safe and shaded is important, which we had on the main road to the house (not mid-day, of course). The lake channel on which the house is located is busy with boats, more so on the weekend. It also during the week, which made use of the kayaks and canoes problematic (boat wakes). Otherwise, the location worked well and it was far cooler than at home in DC due to the elevation and cooling from the lake. Bugs were minimal. Owner was very responsive and helpful. Great stay!

Ideal Winter Getaway

Great communication, very clean, and probably the most well-appointed property we've ever stayed at. So many options to keep the kids busy when we weren't skiing. Would love to come back in the warmer months to take advantage of the other seasonal amenities provided.

Perfect Fall Family Vacation

The property, owner, amenities and surrounding area offered us an opportunity to explore and experience a family vacation with an age group between 1-94 to celebrate a milestone Anniversary. It was sort of like a magical time with kayaking, fires in the fire pit and living room, lounging, cooking with state of the art appliances, and a game room for the kids. We happened to have a great weather weekend which enhanced and allowed for additional experiences in the area parks. Oh, I forgot to mention the hot tub was also very nice. The beds were very comfortable, and the 6 bedrooms were a perfect fit for our group. The children loved their room that resembled a camping experience with a tree fort looking bed. The crib was perfect for the 1 year old. It must be said that the driveway is made for 4 wheel drive vehicles, and if you don’t have one, you should just park at the top of the hill. It is a steep, curvy driveway to the house. Walking to the lake is a steep grade as well, just us old folks had difficulty navigating that hill, but we still managed to make it down there to the Adirondack chairs waiting for us lakeside. Great memories were made and the owners, Rebecca has excellent communication skills and offers a lovely atmosphere and experience to be had. We loved the decorative features, so tasteful and fresh, and exactly as pictured.

family vacation 2024

We really enjoyed our stay at the Mad Men Lakehouse. The setting was beautiful, and the house was well equipped with everything that we could need. We enjoyed use of the kayaks to enjoy the lake. Our family spent an evening outdoors at the firepit and watched the Olympics while making Smores. We cooked in most evenings and found the kitchen very stocked with everything that we needed.

A wonderful lake vacation !

We had a wonderful vacation! The house was clean and stocked with everything we needed. There were plenty of toys for the kids to play with already there, and the game room downstairs was wonderful! The host was very helpful with all questions. A great experience.

Fun for the kids!

We stayed at Mad men lake house for our Easter holiday. The driveway was steep. But, that was clearly stated in listing. Upon arrival they had fun mountain music playing. It was so cozy. My kids loved the game room/ping pong/ swings. Dog friendly...which I love! Some of the furniture was worn. But, we don't mind a little cozynes! All in all we would stay here again!

Family Vacation

Perfect for a family of 13. We have 5 grandchildren. The two 5 year olds and the 7 year old were thrilled with their “forest” themed bedroom. And there was plenty of space for everyone to relax inside and out. Between indoor games and outdoor activities there was something for everyone.

Mad Love for Mad Men Rentals!

This little getaway did not disappoint! What a beautiful place to escape to for a great family fun mini week filled with everything you need to relax, be entertained or unwind and take in the beautiful scenery. We didn’t even need to leave the house because it had everything you needed.. from the hot tub to the pool table, and so much more! This will be an awesome place to come back to in the summer for sure! Rebecca was only a phone call or a text away and made sure we were having a great time. I highly recommend making this your next place to stay in Deep Creek Lake!

Perfect Family House

The house had everything we needed for our kids- ranging from 2-6- and plenty to keep them entertained so that we could have a relaxing weekend. We hope to go back again and enjoy it in the warmer months too!

Heinrich Family Winter Week of Fun

When we walked in the house there was a sign welcoming our family. Plus a gift basket full of goodie! We loved the location. It was close to Wisp, Hiking, Escape Room and a great Brewery. House had so many special notes with excellent instructions and attention to detail with quality furniture inside and out. The deck was brand new. The beds were all very comfortable. The linens also were very nice and plush. The kitchen was very well appointed also! It was a special week for all of us and we look forward to trying other Mad Men Vacation Homes in the future. Thank you Rebecca for being an awesome host!!

Life really is better at the Lake

We had our whole family together for my belated 60th birthday party. We had all four of our kids, our 3 son-in-laws, and 7 grandchildren, all under 7 years old! There was something for everyone!. We rented a boat, took out the kayaks and canoe, sat in the hot tub, cooked steaks on the grill and made smores by the fire. We even caught a fish from the dock! Our four oldest grandchildren loved sleeping in the "tree house" bedroom, and the assortment of toys downstairs. Our daughters really appreciated that, in addition to the full crib, they also provided two additional porta-cribs, so that was one less thing they had to bring. It was also really nice that they had a full range of life-jackets to use, so that was another thing we didn't have to bring. But probably most importantly, everything was clean and comfortable. There were plenty of nice towels. The beds had plenty of pillows and blankets and were comfortable. And the kitchen had everything you needed, including plenty of plates, glasses, and silverware, for our large group. They even had copper mugs for our "mules!" Everything was very well organized and it made getting settled in very easy, including a QR Code that automatically connected your phone to the WiFi. I've never seen that before!

Overall an adequate stay

We had multiple families in this house. I will say that the decor is lovely and that a Rebecca is extremely responsive. The driveway is steep and we did have a little slipping getting up the driveway but our AWD vehicles were fine. The house smelled lovely when you entered and it is super bright and airy. We did really enjoy s’mores by the fire while watching a movie outside and then a dip in the hot tub! I don’t think that we would stay here again as we had to contact the owner multiple times and the price for the week is really high. The floors were still dirty and the cleaners had to be sent back out. The rear main floor bedroom doors leaked during a rainstorm to the point I had to soak up water off the floor and leave a towel down to soak up what came in overnight. Rebecca was responsive and I asked that our vacation not be interrupted by the builder coming the week we were there. The couches in the basement are not comfortable at all and we didn’t really have a place where we could all gather together and hang out. The areas, as in most pictures, are not as big as they look. The walk down to the lake is not bad, but getting back up is not easy! I will say that Rebecca is one of the most responsive owners I have encountered and the previous renters really left the house in rough shape. I am sure that a Rebecca will address all of the issues that are disclosed and that another family will have a great time.

The whole package for an Awesome Vacation!

Loved it! The house and owner's response to every detail far exceeded our expectations - Cleanliness, spaciousness for nine adults and three kiddos, and proximity to lake were key to making this our favorite Deep Creek rental house ever. Special touches like a personalized welcome sign along with welcome music greeted us like old friends returning home. Well equipped kitchen, game room, private dock and beautiful lake views from the hot tub were all pluses. The tree house themed kids' room with bunk beds and trundle created a perfect retreat for the grandkids. Thank you, Rebecca, for making this a memorable trip for the entire family! One important note for travelers: the driveway down to house is extremely steep, AWD, 4WD a necessity. However, don't fret there is plenty of room to park your car and walk down.

Just what we all needed

Our moms work hard everyday on their goals and being a great mother for their children. This was a get away needed to breath and reenergize. Lot's of first for many, Seeing so many trees, open fire pit, samore s, hot tub, canoeing, time spend outside, and so much more. We cannot thank you enough for this experience.

Spectacular Lakefront View!

We came to spend a long weekend at Mad Men Lake House with 3 other couples and were blown away by everything! The living and dining area is bright and has a fantastic view of Deep Creek Lake. The kitchen is fully stocked and has beautiful new appliances. The beds were comfortable and the whole place was immaculate. The gas fireplace was cheery and easy to start and stop. The game room had something for everyone and we really enjoyed playing ping pong on the deck. We took a side trip to Swallow Falls Park and the falls were beautiful! This is definitely our "go to" place for Deep Creek!

Most Amazing Vacation Ever!!!!

This is fantastic property with beautiful interior design, extremely comfortable towels and bedding and peace of mind for a fully baby proofed that even includes a great crib- baby monitor and sound machine if needed. There’s toy closet in the basement filled with great toddler toys and books. Outside is beautiful and makes for a fun and carefree sit by the fire without worrying about wildlife getting too close. The view is amazing off both decks. Don’t hesitate to book this place you will not be disappointed and the owners are expectional hosts as well.
