Such a nice cabin, looks exactly like the pictures! It was very clean and the bed was really comfortable! The host was very helpful and responsive when I messaged them with a question. The cabin had small cleaning packages for dishes and laundry and small travel toiletries for guests and a hair dryer with a diffuser(curly and wavy girls understand!) The tv on the upper deck has a little discoloration but it was fine to watch. One thing to note is that the hot tub and downstairs area is only accessible from the stairs outside so keep that in mind if you book. We would definitely stay here again!

This stay fell far below acceptable standards. At our 4:00 PM check-in time, the cleaner was still in the home and we had to wait about 20 minutes. While not a huge issue by itself, it was frustrating given that we had been told earlier that early check-in would cost 50 per hour, clearly not possible if the house wasn’t ready on time. Upon entering, we found the microwave taped off with a large blue “X” and a note saying it was broken, along with a 1.25 bag of stale popcorn as compensation. The host confirmed it had not yet been replaced. We later learned it had reportedly been broken for weeks. The home was not properly cleaned: streaked counters, debris on floors, dirty & stained comforters, long black hairs in both beds, hair in bathrooms and showers, and dirty mattress protectors and stained mattress toppers. When we asked what we were supposed to do that night, the only solution offered was for someone to come the next morning. Moving us to another property was not an option. We ended up washing sheets and towels ourselves and cleaning bathrooms, staying up past midnight. Outdoor furniture was also dirty. The next morning, the stove/oven and vent hood were dirty. The hot tub was unusable—torn cover, cloudy water, and filthy filters. While maintenance did fix the grill promptly, management never returned our repeated requests for a phone call or resolution. If you satay here, bring your own sheets/towels and cleaning supplies!

Cabin was beautiful, great location hot tub and downstairs area was perfect. Unfortunately had late check in due to cleaning company still being there at 4 & trash was left infront/ around property due to animals, one of the beds was completely broken, had difficulty getting tvs to connect broken remote microwave didn’t work, property could use small fixes that would make big differences.

The home is fairly nice however you can tell the owner is in it for the money and doesnt care about upkeeping the property. You're lured in by the photos but disappointed by reality. Trash can full of trash upon arrival. Contacted them and they were going to come get the trash....however we found ourselves having to pick up trash every morning from the animals. Trash throughout the property. We were given 3 different addresses to get to the property. The keys to the downstairs could not be accessed where they were supposed to be. The downstairs for the kids can only be accessed from the outside. There were partially bottles of whiskey found in the kids area with beer can boxes. A fork was holding one of the windows closed. The dishwasher was in pieces upon arrival and instead of somebody fixing it they asked me to fix it. The hot tub cover is in shambles. The ping pong table was falling apart and not really usable. The television remote in the living room was in 2 pieces. The televisions were very cheap pieces of junk the were very unresponsive. The master bed TV kept throwing up an error message making it almost impossible to watch. The one bedroom headboard was sloppy loose and someone used a dirty towel to prop between the wall and the headboard. There was a water bottle under the same bed and the bedroom lamp was broken. OK for rental purposes

The house looks fine and functions for renters. There are maintenance issues that should be addressed:Multiple burned out light bulbsMaster bedroom door will not latch, and will not stay open without a doorstop No coasters, or Kleenex No luggage racks, or place for luggage except on the floorDried food on dishes and cupsFood stains and smears on couchCrumbs/ dried food on counter in kitchenStained bath/kitchen towels, and worn bath matTrash scattered about the back of the propertyIf you like to charge your phone at night on the nightstand, the plugs are not accessible behind the bedWhen we arrived, the instructions for unlocking the door did not work, and we had to walk through the mud down to the basement level to try to find another lockbox. We found three exposed keys to the property laying on a window sill and an unlocked door. The keys fit the locks to the doors accessed by the deck, but not the front door because the front door did not have keyed access. We weren’t able to get the front door keypad code resolved until day two, so all entry on day one had to be through the backyard, onto level one of the deck, then up to level two of the deck via the external stairs, then unlocking one of the deck doors.We were grateful to have had a roof over our heads, and the stay was ok, but at this price point, we will not be returning for future stays.On the positive side, the property manager was quick to resolve the keypad entry problem when notified.

Very Nasty Cabin, Fireplaces did not work and Terrible Communications with Property Manager.

Cabin was not clean -- very nasty throughout, lights bulbs were out throughout the cabin including fridge, food was left in the cabinets opened, none of the gas fireplaces work which was a big part of us choosing this cabin (said they could not fix until the following week). I fixed both fireplaces myself using YouTube. They outdoor furniture was nasty and had human hair everywhere. Dirty dishes in the cabinet. The worst part of it all was the Property Manager had zero since of urgency and his communications skills were awful. No refund or compensation has even been considered. Which I find very disrespectful. So, between VBRO and Unwind Luxury Vacations -- very disappointed with how this has been handled. Zero accountability... I will follow up with pictures on Google reviews and pictures.

Overall great place

Overall the place was exactly as advertised, and I would happily rent from them again. Few items I wish they would have had/change: There is no hairdryer!!! I have never stayed somewhere where I didn’t have a hair dryer. Also no full length mirror. There is no welcome book pointing out restaurants or local things to see. I was completely dependent on what I could find. Also the animals get into the trash and there were no bungee cords to keep the trash on the can. So many mornings were spent picking up trash. Again the welcome book would have let me know when the trash was coming would have helped. Lastly having no access to the lower level except for outside staircase was a little uncomfortable for the teenagers that were in the group. They loved it during the day and slept on the sofa at night. Again, I would totally rent again and enjoyed my time, just the small things would make a huge difference in our stay.

Modern Yet Cozy

Great cabin in the mountains for an easy getaway at decent price. Plenty of activities in the cabin, great kitchen, and great space. Only 2 minor downsides to consider: 1) downstairs bedroom is not connected inside; you have to go outside. Something to consider for those with kids. 2) only 1 AC vent in a bedroom with zero ceiling fan. It got hot very easily at night. Bring a fan. Great property overall. We’ll definitely stay here again.

If you don’t want to sleep, eat, or relax without millipedes, cockroaches, and scorpions sharing your space, this property is not for you. When we attempted to use the “shared” outdoor area described online, we were confronted by a property owner/neighbor that questioned our right to use the space, and warned us to stay in our area. (About 24” of space according to “Chris”). We had to check out 4 days early because we refuse to live with filth and bug infested conditions and could not enjoy the outdoor area without being supervised by neighboring property caretakers. Do not recommend staying at walking bear.

Beautiful Hillside Cabin

The cabin was perfect for me...very modern and not too "cabin-y". We had plenty of room, and the layout is amazing. It really does look like the pictures! Perhaps I did not read the listing carefully, but this cabin is not ON the river, as I thought. You have to drive or walk about a half mile to what definitely appears to be someone else's property (even though some of it belongs to the cabin). So that was disappointing for sure, as I was hoping to have my morning coffee on the massive and beautiful back deck while listening to the river. I did, however, have the wind in the trees, a little rain, and the birds to take over for the river! Also and I know this is definitely my fault and just for your FYI, but this is not in the mountains at all. It's like the foothills of the foothills. The two towns are cute with a couple shops and restaurants. It's fun to stand on the state line and to watch the river. I will say that advertising for the towns has churched them up to more than they are, and everywhere outside of the middlest part of town is a little whiskey tango. There is also nearly zero diversity in this town. The good part for us, though, was that we planned to spend most of our time tucked away in the cabin, and it was wonderful! We played board games and did a puzzle, played ping pong, used the hot tub, had fires, and roasted marshmallows. It was such a relaxing getaway for us, and would definitely recommend if you just need to disconnect from the world for a while.

Great Modern Rustic Property

Located about 4 minutes from downtown McCaysville and about 16 minutes from the Wal-mart at Blue Ridge for reference. The cabin Rustic Moderns and is upscale using quality high end materials throughout. There is a large carport at the entrance which was appreciated when it rained during our stay. The kitchen has gorgeous granite countertops, a gas cooktop and oven as well as a microwave and large refrigerator. It also has a large farmhouse sink, a huge island with seating, and there is plenty of storage. There is not a dining table inside the cabin, but there is a nice large table on the deck on the main level. There are 2 bedrooms with kingsized beds and attached baths on the main level.The shower area in the main master bedroom is huge with 2 high pressure shower heads and a large soaker tub. There are 3 fireplaces. The 2 on the main level are gas the one on the lower level is wood burning. The downstairs deck area is very nice and huge. It is screened in, with a ping pong table, dart board, large jacuzzi tub and wood burning fireplace with plenty of seating. You will need to grab some wood in town if you intend to use this fireplace. We bought some at the IGA in town and the Home Depot in Blue Ridge. There is a bedroom and bath as well as a bar on the the lower level. Note you will have to use the exterior stairs to access the lower level areas. Overall we really enjoyed our stay. It is peaceful, comfortable, and convenient for our stay.

Beautiful place

Loved the place and location. Cute little town close by. We enjoyed our stay. The only thing that was unexpected was that the stairs to the bottom level were on the exterior of the house. Therefore I couldn’t leave the small kids alone to sleep in the downstairs room. Besides that, it was well stocked. Kids are dying to go back. Will definitely be returning next year.

Thanksgiving with family

We stayed in the cabin for a week, great area, loved the local town and less than 15 min to blue ridge. Hiking in TN was great, a couple of close waterfalls. Inside Gas fireplace was amazing to heat the entire place in an instant, not sure we used the thermostat all week. Thanks again!

Walking Bear - The most fantastic getaway!

My wife and I (along with our adult daughter) traveled 10 hours from Virginia Beach, Va. to visit this cabin. We each had the most enjoyable 1 week of relaxation ever! The cabin was clean, beautifully updated (appeared to brand new), spacious and offered the most delightful outside decks, forested view, hot tub, smart TV's, king size comfortable beds, comfortable furniture and beautiful surroundings. We visited several gorgeous waterfalls within 20- 30 miles, saw a deer grazing right outside the cabin early one morning as we were having coffee on the upper deck, and we just 'caught our breath' and took it all in. We also enjoyed taking the short walk to the stream, the gazebo and swing one afternoon. I would highly recommend this cabin for its serenity, value and scenic location. Would definitely love to visit again, even with the 10 hour drive!
