Quiet and remote - loved it!
Very pleased with my stay here. The house is unpretentious and simple. It really is about simple batch living, and this is it's charm. There is a wonderful wood burner that does an amazing job of keeping the place nice and warm. The batch looks right out on to the South Pacific Ocean and the sounds of the waves are ever present. At night - without the clouds - you have a clear dark sky view of the stars and galaxies far away.

What a gem!
We had a marvellous stay at this quaint retro kiwi Bach! Equiped with absolutely everything you need, the beautiful view and warm fireplace is an absolute treat! Mou & Mollie were clear and precise with their directions, and we will most definitely be back!!!

We loved our stay there
The view was amazing had everything we needed all the basic necessities you need my children loved it, just one tip make sure the windows are closed tight at night time the bugs come in part from that we can't wait to come back

Family getaway
Tidy property, great quiet place for family get away nothing flash but has everything you need. Had to drive further up the road for better beach access and castlepoint is only a 20 minute drive south.

The perfect place to disconnect from city life. Immersed in stunning views , rugged coastline. The Bach is equipped with basic necessities and the price is a fair reflection. The view is priceless

Great bach
We loved the bach. Plenty of room for the kids and adults, great view, private backyard and well equipped kitchen. The bach is old and not pristine, but we felt that the price reflects this and it is good value. There is not beach directly across the road from the bach, but we drove down to the estuary for walks. The road is narrow and unsealed in parts.

Perfect family getaway
We loved our stay at Mollie and Moe's bach! Such a beautiful setting and a place where we could all relax and enjoy each other's company. Everything we needed was there including BBQ and fully equipped kitchen. Mollie (and Moe) were very friendly. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Coastal Getaway
Great bach by the Makaikona coast for a complete break from it all. Enjoy staring out to sea from the deck, or beachcombing. The bach was comfy and well appointed. One of those places we wished we'd had more time.

End of winter getaway
Love this place, second time staying and my wife and I always enjoy it. The fireplace keeps everything warm and the beaches never disappoint. Great waking up to the sunrise across the ocean.

A very cozy and peaceful retreat
Simple and sweet. A full view of the horizon. The firebox warns up the whole Bach instantly. Not fancy but not shabby. A perfect place to take a break. Thank you Mollie and Mou. We'll be back!

Amazing getaway
What an amazing place to stay. Lovely bach, great views of the ocean, had everything you could need. Fabulous communication from Molly, with great instructions on how to find the property and letting us know about the gravel roads. Great fire which kept us nice and warm. Will definitely be back and would recommend to anyone wanting a quiet break away.

Excellent Guest. Great to communicate with, the helpful comments inspired us to make changes some areas. The house was left immaculate. We would gladly rent to her again.

The fire was lovely and heated the house very quickly. Nice to hear the sounds of the sea. In a very quiet spot so it felt like we were away from it all, but not much of a drive to the lighthouse and castle rock. The house had everything we needed. Thanks for the sweet weekend away :)

Weekend away at Mataikona
Beautiful little Bach, super insulation, only put a couple of logs on the fire & it stayed warm the whole day, beds were super comfortable, couches not so much unfortunately, & it would be better with a TV that has USB as not many people have Dvd anymore, other than that it's a beautiful spot, cosy kiwi Bach & highly recommended 👌

Great Place for a one person retreat
Enjoyed myself. Spacious, warm (nothing beats a wood burner). Basic but provided needed comfort. 1. Shower head needs attention. 2. Toilet does not flash well, had to pour water using a bucket. 3. Please provide bedside lamps.
