Communication with the host was great, and we really appreciated being allowed an early check-in. The home itself has wonderful character and a lot of family history — you can tell it’s a special place in a beautiful area. That said, there were a few things that could be improved for future guests. When we arrived, the heat was off, though thankfully the owner happened to be onsite and was able to show me how to turn it on. We also had some difficulty figuring out the fireplaces. The home could benefit from a deeper clean overall — there was some leftover food in the fridge, and the freezer needed attention. When we first arrived, it looked like an animal had gotten into the outdoor trash. The owner covered it with a torn bag but it was never addressed during our stay, so some debris blew around the driveway. Additionally, the slider locks weren’t functioning properly and were being held with a piece of wood, which didn’t feel very secure.A few thoughtful touches, like providing some cozy throw blankets for fall stays, would make the space feel even more welcoming.Overall, we enjoyed our time and made the best of it — the location and charm of the home really stand out, and with a bit more attention to detail, it could be a truly great stay.
