La Ciotat is a town on the French Mediterranean coast. At its southern end, the botanical garden of the Mugel park is endowed with tropical plants, pebble beaches and playgrounds. The large Ciotaden museum, located in the middle of the cafes and bars of the restored Old Port district, offers exhibitions on the history of shipbuilding in the city and on the invention of pétanque. Just north is the Eden Theater, the oldest operating cinema in the world.
