Stay in a one-of-a-kind architectural home in the Sierra Nevada foothills, 32.5 miles from Yosemite's Arch Rock entrance on Highway 140. This 2,080 sq ft eco-luxury home sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms (king in the master, queens in the other two), with radiant heated floors, a chef's kitchen, and gardens built for slow mornings.
The house was built from the award-winning "Natural Habitat" plans by Arkin Tilt Architects — the original Mill Valley home won Sunset Magazine's Western Home Award. The owner purchased the plans, visited the original house, and worked with the original architect, builder, and engineer to adapt the design for this Mariposa hillside, building it into the hill for natural year-round comfort: passive solar design, solar panels, and cozy radiant floor heating in winter. Inside: an open floor plan flooded with natural light, a warm fireplace, and an entertainment system for easy evenings. The fully equipped chef's kitchen opens onto a culinary herb garden, so dinner can start with a walk outside.
Step onto the expansive patio for al fresco dining with views across the rolling Mariposa hills. Downtown Mariposa — Gold Rush history, boutiques, eateries, wineries, and the farmers market — is just 1.5 miles away. After a day in Yosemite, come home to quiet, comfort, and space to spread out.
Perfect for families and groups of up to 6 who want more than a crash pad near the park.
