Idyllic setting

The property was perfect for senior ladies sorority reunion. There was nothing lacking in this lovely cabin. Everything was provided with great attention to detail. We couldn’t ask for more. Even the thunderstorms and rain couldn’t dampen our spirits!

Adventures 2025

Friends doing things together. We ventured out on motorcycles and road the Back of the Dragon. We visited several historic sites and had a great time unwinding and enjoying the peacefulness the house had to offer.

Amazing for graduation weekend!

We stayed here for my son’s graduation weekend from Emory & Henry. It’s a bit of a ways to campus, but that worked fine for us. The place is beautifully appointed, incredibly comfy mattresses, and an amazing location with the sound of the river flowing all around. The gravel driveway is a bit rustic by most peoples standards, I think, but I grew up on a farm and this one was much better maintained than that. Just know that the last stretch of the drive will be going very slowly.The hot tub was glorious! As we’re all the porch spaces. We cooked breakfast at the house and the only thing I didn’t bring that I later wanted was nonstick spray or butter, but we made out OK without it. I wish we had been able to stay longer and enjoy more of the features. My sister was so in love that she wants to move down to the area! (And preferably into that exact home! I hope that we will find a reason to come back when we didn’t have quite so much of an agenda. Thanks for the wonderful hospitality!

Beautiful peaceful getaway

Our family was looking for a place to recover and recharge for our son who is hiking the AT with a friend. My husband loved fishing in the river (caught 2 trout on fly) and our hikers enjoyed the hot tub and well appointed home. Lovely evening time on the balcony with the fire pit.

Beautiful, Remote Luxury

Wonderful property! Peaceful, quiet, remote, totally excellent! Property matches the description and the many previous, sterling reviews. Clean and equipped with everything you need. Comfortable master bed. Excellent master shower. Probably the best hot tub I've experienced! It is a seven person with wonderful features and lots of jets. Water is really enjoyable due to a non-chlorine treatment system. Fully equipped kitchen with gas grill just outside the door on covered deck. River is just across the entry road with Adirondack chairs on concrete patio river side. Perfect place for morning coffee and after dinner drinks. This is a perfect place for those who want to be away from it! Many wonderful state parks in the area. Grayson Highlands is well worth the hour drive if you want to hike. The Middle Appalachian Museum in Saltville is very surprising! Also visited Hungry Mother State Park. Wooden Pickle restaurant in Marion is great for casual lunch or dinner and Sisters Cafe is excellent choice for breakfast or brunch but closes at 2:00 and is not open on weekends. The last mile and a half of the road to the property is not "bad" by any means. It is a very well maintained, gravel, mountain road typical for these type of properties - meaning it is narrow, basically single lane, curvy and at times steep but no issue if you just pay attention and drive appropriately. For instance, we were in my Mustang Convertible and had no issues. Best to drive in before dark.

Perfect winter Cabin

It was such a clean place and beautiful location. We were able to go into town twice and just stayed on the property the rest of the time. The host respond and took care of Any concerns we had very quickly! We definitely want to see this place in the summer though!

Amazing

Beautiful, quiet, and private getaway on the water. The hot tub was clean and relaxing. Everything in the home is very high quality and super clean. The host was quick to respond during the check in and check out process for questions. The location of this house is beautiful and makes the perfect trip if you are looking for some quiet and relaxation.

Spectacular Mountain River Cabin

The River Cabin was absolutely gorgeous, well maintained, clean, and peaceful! It had every thing a person could want during a relaxing trip during the peak of the fall leaf colors. I especially enjoyed listening to the river while sitting on the upstairs deck beside the warm fire table while my daughter grilled delicious Black Angus Ribeye steaks. I definitely did not want to leave, and we are already planning on our next trip to the cabin. The only minor problem that we had was the lack of internet services due to the storm damage from Hurricane Helene. We were not aware of the lack of wifi so our family was worried when we didn’t check in when we first arrived. Therefore, if in the future, if WiFi is out, make sure to notify your family before you head down the long gravel mountain road to the cabin. Otherwise, I enjoyed being unplugged from everything so I could enjoy nature. Thank you for a memorable trip with my daughter!

Perfect Blend of Adventure and Relaxation in Marion, VA"**

We recently had the pleasure of staying at a cabin in Marion, VA, owned by Ryan, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Ryan was incredibly responsive throughout our rental process, making everything smooth and hassle-free. The cabin itself is amazing and one of the cleanest we've ever stayed in. It looks like it was just recently built or updated, which added to its charm. There is ample parking space, including enough room for a trailer, which was perfect for us as we trailered our motorcycles there. We had a blast riding the Back of the Dragon and exploring the many other curvy, challenging roads in the area. For those who enjoy hiking, I can't recommend the Great Channels enough. It's a steep hike, so be sure to bring hiking boots with ankle support and trekking poles. The experience of being in the Channels is otherworldly and well worth the effort. One of our favorite parts of the cabin was the covered deck. We loved sitting there, listening to the creek, and enjoying the warmth of the fire table. After a day of riding motorcycles and hiking, it was wonderful to unwind in the hot tub. The cabin was well-equipped, and we particularly appreciated the glassware dishes (plates and bowls). It's a small detail, but it made a big difference to us, and we plan to buy some for our own home now. Overall, this cabin provided the perfect blend of adventure and

Little piece of heaven

It's an absolutely beautiful cabin inside and out, extremely clean and beautifully updated! It's perfect! One of the most peaceful places that I've been to & the hot tub & patio with the chairs by the creek & porch with the gas fireplace was perfect! Didn't get to enjoy the fire pit but will next time because we'll definitely be back!!time

60th Birthday

The house was even more beautiful in person! Loved the decor and walk in closets and the shower! Slept so much better on the beds there than home! The river across the secluded road was our coffee & cocktail hour spot everyday and spent two days wading in the water (bring shoes for that) building stone sculptures! Ryan gave great recommendations to hike and we loved the Va Creeper Trail use The Bike Station in Damascus to get bikes!! Wilson grill & cafe after the ride in Damascus was a gem of a find for my bday dinner they are top notch !! Sisters Cafe in Marion Amazing also loved picking up there frozen dinners to go when we didn’t want to cook! Hungry mother state park & Grayson Highland are Spectacular! Never stayed somewhere I didn’t leave way before check out but this time right down to the minute!! The only things are throw blankets to wrap up would be nice and new chairs at fire pit the arms were broke . The Hot tub was perfect and we hope to return for a fall trip in the future The stars at night were Amazing & the peace n quiet spoke to my soul !! Thanks for a lovely Birthday

Awesome remote getaway

This property is an incredibly modern, clean getaway in a remote location. We have rented many homes and this was one of our favorites. The outdoor living space is perfect with comfy outdoor furniture that is covered and a clean hot tub. The grill and kitchen were modern and functional. The south fork river next door was gorgeous. Would definitely come back.

Wonderful House!

This is a wonderful place! We have thoroughly enjoyed our week here, despite the fact that it rained every single day. We had hoped to spend one day at Hungry Mother State Park; the rain prevented that. But the hot tub is available every day, rain or shine, and we took full advantage of it. And with good WiFi, a smart TV, and plenty of books that I brought from home, we were never bored. The house is clean (except for a few stray cobwebs hanging from the ceiling) and well furnished. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of necessities such as dish detergent, dishwasher tabs, hand soap, etc. (Bring your own bath soap, though.) Most importantly, follow the directions that are sent to you - do NOT follow Google Maps if coming from the Roanoke area! Once we (finally) arrived, we thoroughly enjoyed this place, and rarely left it. The sound of the river is very relaxing, and we enjoyed the chairs on its bank. IMPORTANT: There is a nest of flying, stinging insects in the porch light over the hot tub which needs to be eradicated - husband was stung as he covered the hot tub.

This property was hard to get to but one of best houses Ive ever rented. The river was amazing and house appeared brand new. Went to Hungry mother park and a public pool in Marion that had 3 diving boards. We will be back next year. Also fast internet in middle of no where allowed me to still answer emails during our stay.
