Great stay. We stayed 4 nights. Good location for the west side of Cape Breton. Very secluded so you wont have neighbors but still easy to get to. Stewart was easy to get a hold of and very responsive. Would definitely stay again.

Amazing stay at the Deep Blue sea Cottage. Everything was as advertised. Cottage was well equipped and clean on arrival. No issues checking in. We absolutely loved the tranquil and private setting. So peaceful with incredible views and sunsets. Stewart had many great suggestions and we took advantage of most of them. He was so helpful in our planning. Great place to stay to explore the area. Beaches very close with easy access. Both were Terrific. Cabot trail was beautiful. We visited Egypt Falls and even went for a swim second tier of the falls, Amazing. The Fiddle concert at the barn was very entertaining and we sat pretty much on the stage! Unfortunately our whale watch was too windy and wavy to finish the trip. The owners refunded our money. All in all, if you are looking for a great place to explore this beautiful area, I give The cottage 5 stars. Absolutely perfect. Thanks Stewart for all your assistance.

Beautiful property, in stunning location

I pretty much built an entire vacation on Cape Breton around this awesome property. I couldn't decide where on CBI to stay... I'd never been there before, so wasn't sure if I wanted to be on the east or west coast, or in the middle. But I was so lucky to find Stewart and this lovely cabin. I've never in my life had access to a view like that. And as others have said, the owner Stewart is a Canadian national treasure. My friend and I did almost everything he recommended... and we're so happy we did. We'll be back! :)

Wow! The View!

Beautiful cottage with a mountain top view of the bay. The vista is amazing! We visited Cape Breton for the Celtic Colorfest, and autumn colors were at their peak. The music was great as well! Our cottage was secluded in the forest, and had everything we needed for a perfect getaway. The wood stove provided a cozy touch, and the loft bed was super comfortable. Stewart was a great host, providing lots of suggestions for meals and activities. We love visiting Cape Breton, and hope to return before long!

Great stay at Deep Blue Sea Cottage

A wonderful stay at the Deep Blue Sea cottage, the property has everything needed for a great comfortable stay. Close to beaches and links to the Cabot Trail. Immaculately clean and well appointed. Stewart was very kind and was happy to spend time to help get oriented to the island with hiking, music and food recommendations. Watching the sun go down from the deck is a highlight and make sure to check out the night sky from there, it’s amazing!

Unique Cottage

The cottage is as pictured - clean and quiet with great views. While the cottage is rustic, it is well stocked for a comfortable one week stay. The road up was a bit of a challenge the first time up (front wheel drive car) but after that was no problem. Stewart provided numerous recommendations on places to see and eat - we enjoyed the few that we incorporated into what we already had planned. We enjoyed our stay.

Magical stay

The house was just at it looked in the pictures. Views were beyond expectations. So peaceful, we felt completely private. Close to hiking trails, beaches, and the Cabot Trail. Our host showed us places to go that weren’t on the usual maps. Kitchen had everything we needed. Had one meal out a day, usually lunch and so enjoyed relaxing mornings and gorgeous sunsets. One week barely scratched the surface of Cape Breton.

INCREDIBLE

Top to bottom, front to back a 10/10 experience. Location - stunning views from the sunroom and the front deck. You get to see all of the weather coming in and with the binoculars so many amazing sights. The cottage was so beautiful. So clean. Best sleeps at night. Everything you need when you’ve flown in with carry-on luggage! Stewart was such a great host. Came By and gave us great ideas on how to spend our time and we did several of his suggestions. My husband is from Cape Breton so we got to spend some time seeing friends and family. This place is a gem. We will look forward to staying there again! You won’t be disappointed.

Magical vacation

The cottage was perfect for two. The view is incredibly beautiful from the cottage. The privacy was romantic and offered a feeling of rest and restore. Everything you need is provided including advice on things to do and places to eat. This is the perfect place to stop spinning in circles and reconnect with someone you love.

Beautiful, quiet stay with a great host

Once we booked our stay, the owner Stewart reached out with great advice and directions to help us prepare for our trip. Upon arrival, Stewart came up to the cottage to meet us. This is the first time we've had a property owner come out to meet us on arrival, so we didn't know what to expect. We had a great visit with Stewart and for almost two hours he annotated maps with suggestions of where to go, where to eat, and things to see based on our interests. This proved to be incredibly valuable during our stay. We did nearly everything that Stewart suggested and nothing disappointed. We had relatively strong winds and rain one night of our stay, and Stewart emailed us to warn us about the weather and make sure everything was alright with our stay. Overall, Stewart was an A++ host. The cottage was clean and cozy with everything we needed. As the weather was warming up during our stay, there was some insect activity, primarily in the bathroom, but that's to be expected in a rural and semi primitive rental. The little wood stove very quickly warmed up the cottage on cool mornings and provided a nice cozy ambiance. And the view off the deck is unbeatable. Overall we were thrilled with our stay and will return to Cape Breton. We hope to stay with Stewart again when we do.

Wonderful Stay!

This is a truly magical spot. Stuart set us up with ideas of things to do and insights about the area on day one. He was easy to contact and responsive all week. The cottage is lovely with spectacular views over Chimney Beach. I highly recommend this place!

Un séjour inoubliable

Tout était parfait. Le cottage était superbe,propre et très bien équipé. Une petite salle de bain très fonctionnelle avec une grande douche et une bonne pression ainsi que des planchers chauffants.Le lit hyper confortable avec petite brise en bonus..une belle terrasse avec une vue absolument magnifique.. que dire des couchers de soleil tous plus beaux les un des autres. Les photos sur le site sont très belles mais en personne s’est encore plus grandiose.. Une très belle plage à 5 min de voiture sinon plusieurs dans la région..l’eau est beaucoup plus chaude à ce que je m’attendais , très contente lol.. Pour les amoureux des oiseaux voir des belles Pygargues à tête blanche passer quotidiennement dans le ciel face à notre terrasse .Juste WoW!!! Notre hôte Stewart est un gros bonus pour le voyage . Il nous a fait de très bonnes recommandations que nous avons rajouté à notre itinéraire, à chaque fois c’était un bonheur. Il prends le temps de répondre à toute nos questions et si vous avez besoin de le contacter pendant les vacances, il répond très rapidement..Quand nous allons revenir s’est sur que ça va être dans un de ses cottages . Je recommande Deep blue sea fortement.

Localisation parfaite

Nous avons apprécié chaque minute de notre séjour au Deep Blue Sea cottage. La vue était splendide et pour nous, la localisation était parfaite. Beautiful Cabin overlooking Chimney Corner

Excellent stay in this cute and well-furnished cabin. The property is clean and very well-maintained. Stewart was delightful and extremely helpful while respecting our privacy. The cabin is perfect for a couple wanting a place to stay close to the Cabot Trail and other local sights. The view from the porch (when there wasn’t fog), is exceptional. I do recommend an SUV for the steep road up to the cabin.

Cozy cabin with amazing views

Deep Blue Sea is a rustic and charming cabin perched on the side of a mountain overlooking the sea and coastline. The owner built it with his own two hands (and maybe a couple of others), and can tell you all about its history, as well as just about anything else you might want to know about Cape Breton. Privacy is assured by its location nestled in the woods on 3 sides. It is kept immaculately clean, and any issues or questions are dealt with quickly and efficiently. Highly recommended!

Wish we had been able to book two weeks!

I fell in love with the Deep Blue Sea Cottage when I first saw it advertised, and the real thing did not disappoint. Stewart was an incredible host, ensuring that we had all the information required pre-check in and then again post arrival. He catered his recommendations to our stated interests and we were able to do many of the things that he recommended. When the weather was less cooperative, we thoroughly enjoyed staying in. The peaceful surroundings and the stunning view of Chimney Corner Beach and waterfront made for an incredibly relaxing experience. We would go back in a heartbeat! I’ve already recommended it to a number of my friends.

Amazing Vacation

A breathtaking retreat at the edge of the world.

This is an extraordinary property on all fronts. There is not a conceived category where it could fall short of a 5/5 rating. Sadly pictures cannot truly incapsulate the transcendence of time and the vastness and beauty offered by this classic structure and location. It feels like the edge of the world and a departure from all things familiar to our modern existence. If you want to escape, unplug and disappear, look no further. The interior living space is tastefully constructed - combining old and new - and is immaculately manicured. I would almost describe it as a country spa. The property’s host is a seasoned connoisseur of all things related to the immediate and surrounding gifts that Cape Breton has to offer. I implore one to take his thoughtful guidance and direction - as his highlighted list of suggestions can truly make ones trip. The owner and the property both seem to exude a pride and true love of nature and it’s inhabitants. This experience is one that celebrates our relationship to the old world that I believe we all long for. I cannot wait to return.
