It was an awesome place to stay off the beaten path. Loved Sitting on the porch early morning watching the Sunrise & the wildlife. Truly God’s masterpiece It was great to come back to our roots in west Texas where I grew up to relax & spend time with our local family. Marathon is small but mighty. We love coming out here every year for our cousin get together at Thanksgiving Great hostess!!

Our stay at Casa La Vista in Marathon, TX was absolutely wonderful. Wilma was an exceptional host—her communication was prompt, friendly, and incredibly helpful from start to finish. The house itself was perfect: immaculately clean, thoughtfully laid out, and beautifully designed to take in the sweeping mountain views.At night, the dark skies were filled with stars—an unforgettable sight. Every detail was clearly well thought out, from the comfortable furnishings to the provided coffee (a much-appreciated touch in the mornings!).We couldn’t have asked for a better experience and would highly recommend Casa La Vista to anyone visiting the area. Thank you, Wilma, for your excellent hospitality!

Another amazing stay!!! The wildlife is always a treat - this year we viewed elk every morning and blue quail in the early evenings. The beautiful sunsets!!!!!!!!!!!!! Tom always takes great care of the guests!

Peaceful Marathon Casa

We had a great time at Casa La Vista. The location was perfect for viewing the night sky, the sunrise and sunsets each day. It had everything we needed for cooking a delicious dinner outside and breakfast in the morning. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom spacious. Great towels! The house has great views of the mountains from every window.

Ideal VRBO/location for dark skies/astrophotography enthusiasts

The property is located away from most other properties, ensuring dark skies for astrophotography. Those skies were phenomenal for 3 of the 4 nights we stayed. The furnishings and kitchen could use some updates, but these can be overlooked considering the location of the property and its proximity to the dark skies and Big Bend National Park. Also, the owner/manager was very attentive and responded quickly to any issue, such as the intermittent WIFI outage. Really an enjoyable stay.

Perfect

This is an extremely nice and comfortable house in Marathon. We had business in the area and the Gage was booked out. We rented this house and enjoyed it infinitely more than had we been at the hotel. On the edge of town with a shared boundary of Iron Mountain Ranch so no other houses in your views from the living room and outdoor. I will be back with my family for an enjoyable weekend rather than work.

Marathon and Big Bend getaway

Our stay was awesome! It was very relaxing and the views from the house is so worth the stay. The house was well equipped with just about anything that you need. One of the cleanest stays I’ve had traveling.

Wonderful weekend getaway

As described....it was hard to even want to leave the property at all...my ONLY complaint would be that the smaller mattress is not super comfy so we moved rooms around and one slept on the bed in the main room which was AMAZINGLY comfy, and there is not ample drinkware. Washer and Dryer are located outside by the front door...other than that....get ready to completely unwind and fill your cup

Mountain Desert Retreat

Be prepared for the quiet beauty. The moment we walked through the doors, we got lost in the stunning views of the mountains. The perfect place to recharge and rest. It is a great launch pad for Big Bend, too. Wooden high ceilings, fully equipped kitchen and bathroom, comfortable beds and furniture. Sitting on the covered patio watching sunsets are a must. Early rising with the sun is amazing as well. The house is properly cooled and if you want a fire in the fireplace or the outside fire pit, there’s plenty of firewood right outside the kitchen door. The house is sitting out away from other homes with its windmill and Cottonwood tree marking the way to Casa La Vista. Truly serene with multitude of birds making a stop for lunch on the seeds. We will definitely stay in this property again. Also, most importantly for us who have canine family members: your dog will stand in front of one of the many windows and see every movement in front of them. Dog Friendly!!!! Until next time!
