Big Red House
A great stay at the big red house for our first family vacation at the lake. We grew up on this lake and always enjoy being there! House was very clean and had enough basic supplies that we didn’t *need* much! Thank you for sharing your home! -Harllee Family

Awesome getaway!!
We really enjoyed our stay!!! The house had lots of room but of course the porch was our favorite!!! Also loved sitting in the yard watching the boat gatherings & sitting underneath the house!! Excellent accommodations!!

Big Red House does not disappoint! Peace and quiet with an amazing view !
Needed a quiet getaway and the Big Red House did not disappoint! It’s an amazing place with everything you need! Very clean and spacious with an amazing screened in back porch with plenty of space to sit back and relax! The dock was fun to fish off of and to watch the boats go by! Will plan another trip there!

The big red house
The property was very nice, and well kept. Very comfortable and has a spectacular view of the sunset from the dock. Fish could’ve been a little more cooperative but was still better than working any day!!!

Beautiful Area

Good for a relaxing get away.
This is a cute, nicely updated cabin. It is out in the middle of nowhere which was hard for us. 20 plus minutes to get groceries or find a restaurant. (Georgio’s in Manning was amazing) The lake and dock were great and it was nice they had water toys available.

Sitting on the dock of the bay
This is our second year coming to Lake Marion for Spring Break. We loved this house. The screen porch is amazing, the dock was perfect for passing the day away. It is still a little cool this time of year, and the fish weren’t yet biting as much as we wished, but we had a wonderful time.

Would not stay again
They need to do something about the german roaches. TV in the bedroom didn't work. Sheets are placed on the bed for the guest to make their bed which is ridiculous, the sheets do not fit, and stained pillowcases. You can only do 2 loads of laundry per week. You cannot take a shower in the upstairs shower because the head is about 3 feet tall. It would be better described as a red home in the middle of a mobile home park. Luckily the neighbors are very nice because you are super close to them. The majority of the furniture and cookware are old and worn out.

Hi Diane, i am sorry your experience was not what you expected. To address some of the issues...we had the house strayed right before your arrival. I stayed there my self after you left. I saw dead ones ( which is what you want after a spray) but no live ones. I would suggest in the future you read all house rules and descriptions throughly. The sheets,water usage, and pet policy was all addressed in there. The TV in the master we had just put it in there and the firestick didnt arrive before your stay. Prior to your dates there wasnt a tv in that room. It is now working. I am here now and will check the pillows cases.The sheets are placed on the beds so that guest are insured they are clean. Cleaning crew may have gotten the sizes mixed up, i am so sorry. The upstairs bath is a tub...not a shower. The head being low is for help in bathing children. All of the lake homes are on a setic system. The laundry issue was temporary till a resolution with septic tank was resolved and i forgot to remove the sign for the laundry limits. Again, sorry for the inconvenience. The sofa downstairs did need cleaning thats being addressed while i am here. The cookware is getting old and also have that on the list to replace. I appreciate your feed back and also for paying the extra fee for not following house rules on pet.

A much needed getaway
We enjoyed a quiet few days on the lake. Puzzles, kayaks, wine and home cooking. The house was well appointed with everything we needed. Do be careful with your four legged friends...there are a lot of barking dogs in the neighborhood.

Golf Trip
We had seven golfers that stayed very comfortable on the property. Very clean and everything you need for a nice vacation. Would highly recommend staying at the Big Red House.

Family time away from everything!
Everything was great from check-in to check-out. I am battling breast cancer so we wanted a place that was on the water to get away and spend quality family time together! We did just that. We fished every day; however, we didn't catch but a few tiny one's. It was cold a few days so not sure if that's why we didn't catch many but overall, we had a great time! The communication with owner was fast and pleasant! We definitely recommend this rental.

Amazing Place to Stay!
We went for a ladies getaway. We were very pleased with the home in every way! The kitchen and linens were very well stocked with everything we needed. The house was very clean and comfortable with plenty of seating both indoors and outdoors. The beds and pillows were also very comfortable. The view of the lake is amazing from the front porch. And we really enjoyed taking out the kayaks in the afternoon and evenings. We are already planning to return but with the spouses next time.

The Neighbors From Hell
We liked the house(beautiful) but didn't like the neighborhood, and certainly didn't care for the neighbors on either side. House was to close to each other felt very clustered. Didn't really have any privacy. Sat on the back porch, neighbors sat on their porch, can hear everything your talking about. We just couldn't enjoy ourselves there. Didn't care for the outside camera on the back banister, felt like we was always being watched. Thanks for the experience, but will never rent this house again.

Hi Sharon, I am so sorry that your visit was not what you expected. This is the first negative review we have had. Most guest have been complimentary on how friendly the neighbors were. There are cameras outside that just show the steps. They don't show anything on the porch or inside the house. This is so we can tell if people are on the property when not being rented. The object on the back banisters is not a camera, it's a solar light that doesn't work anymore. I am so sorry you were not happy with your stay.

Perfect location
With a few minor set backs, the owners were ontop of anything before we had a chance to complain. Great communication and accommodating to our needs. We did enjoy a hot week long stay with some cooling off in the lake. Along with plenty of toys to enjoy and very close sand bar(busy on weekends, but empty during the week), but by the dock was plenty of fun. Went to 3 stumps for a quieter sandbar. Caught lots of fish, plenty of laughs, and memories made!

Best Lake Stay Ever
We had such a wonderful time at the Big Red House. Everything about the house and area are perfect. We took our 3 grandchildren and needless to say they had a blast! The neighbors are sweet and we really enjoyed them. If you are looking for the perfect family vacation house this is the one!

Amazing Lake View
Our stay was very relaxing, my sis and i enjoyed drinking coffee every morning on the porch and all of us just being on the porch most of the time. A lot of steps but totally worth it. Kids enjoyed the private dock. Was a big crowd on the sandbar on the weekends but didn't bother us. We also enjoyed watching Netflix, Amazon, etc. We were glad we could bring our dog, he had a great time! Both of the neighbors on both sides were so friendly, we enjoyed talking with them. I was concerned with 3 bathrooms if we would have enough hot water for showers but we did! We definitely hope to rent this house again!

Amazing Experience

Great place, a few recommendations
We were pleased, overall, with this rental. The location was great. The boat ramp was just around the corner and we were able to use the dock for our boat. The kitchen was well-stocked and there was plenty of room for all 8 of us. However, the beds were not made and the sheets were left on each bed for us to make ourselves. The towels were not in the bathrooms, but in the downstairs closet for us to carry to the bathrooms when we wanted to shower or wash up. Also, the dishwasher was not unloaded when we arrived. It was full of dishes from the previous stay. All minor inconveniences, but not expected when paying what we did per night for this rental. I would also recommend bringing a lighter if you plan to use the charcoal grill because there is not one in the home that we could find.

Johnna, thank you so much for staying with us. I just bought this house in November and the renting game is totally new to me. I apologize for the dishwasher and towel situation. That should have been done by our cleaning crew. We will address this promptly to avoid this issue in the future. As far as the bed sheets, we put them on the bed folded to ensure the guest knows that they are clean and meets their approval. We feel that doing this is a peace of mind for the guests.

The Big Red House
My friends and I really enjoyed the property. It has enough parking for two boat and trailers. Power to charge batteries. Plenty of dock space. All the comforts of home inside with room for everyone. Neighbors were great, everyone is friendly. Located near some good fishing areas with easy access to the main lake. We spent most of our time on the water, but were able to relax on the spacious porch each evening. We will be considering this property the net time we come to Lake Marion.

Beautiful lakefront property. Very responsive property manager. Even though it was too cold to enjoy yhe lake this time, we enjoyed our stay. Sunsets over the water were spectacular.

Best Sunsets in the South
Property was exactly as described and more. If you are looking for a place to relax and unwind the Red House is the place. We spent most evenings on the back porch enjoying the lake view and a cold beverage.

Definitely recommend!
Lovely property with beautiful lake views. Having the private dock allowed us to rent a boat for the week. House was well stocked with linens, kitchen items and lots of games and books. Would absolutely rent again. Highly recommended.

Great house, great view, great vacation!
The Red House is definitely a place I'd love to rent again. The few steps you need to climb when you come and go are worth it for the wonderful view you'll get from the screened-in porch. The weekends are very entertaining with all of the boaters who come to visit the sandbar about 100 yards from the shore. During the week the crowd is a lot less. It was fun to watch everyone out there having a great time. I even swam out there one evening. The kitchen is fully stocked and the living area had a very comfortable couch and chairs. There's a nice TV too, but I don't think we watched anything. We had too much fun at the dock floating on rafts and fishing to stay inside.

Great time over July 4th!
We enjoyed out time in White Oak and staying at the Red House. The house was stocked with staple items that was great! Also loved having All Free Laundry detergent. Bunk bed was not good for mature person. The neighbors are very nice and helpful. We are from Charleston and had a ball on the lake & sandbar. It was great to sit on the porch at night. I would recommend for sure!

Weekend on the lake
We stayed for an extended weekend, I was able to work remotely on Friday using the wifi-no problems with internet access. The view from the porch was great, really enjoyed bird watching, as well as the ducks and geese. Neighbors were friendly and the area felt very safe. The house was very, very clean! The kitchen had everything we needed to cook. The grounds and dock were very well maintained and tidy. Things to note: the grill is charcoal so make sure you bring some! The sandbar does have a lot of activity on Saturday but it didn’t bother us, we enjoyed people watching from the dock. We stayed at the house the entire time so I can’t speak to things to do in the area. Overall, perfect relaxing weekend. We would stay stay here again.

Best family vacation ever!!!
We enjoyed staying in the red house on the lake. The house was very clean with everything we needed for our trip. Plenty of towels and sheets to accompany all of the beds. The kitchen was stocked with about anything that would be needed for a stay. Check in was a little crazy as the key pad was acting up but Jessica made sure we were able to get in without any further issues. We had two visitors to come see us during our stay, a sweet cat and little dog came to visit during the afternoons. My daughter being an animal lover loved having them around. We enjoyed sitting on the dock fishing at night and were finally able to catch a few nice ones. The neighbors were the best. Very informative on what was around and even raked the pine cones from in front of the dock one afternoon. We enjoyed our time there but wished we could have stayed longer. It was so peaceful in the morning and even better at night. The grill and picnic area were a hit as we cooked all of our meals there as well even the fish cleaning station was put to good use. I would suggest maybe changing the outside plug near the sink to a gfi outlet for safety but other than that it was a perfect getaway. I really hated to leave at checkout but we will be back for sure for another stay.

Needs improvment
This is a very fine house and location some items need to be addressed. First there are no curtains in any bedroom therefore the sun blasts in at 5:30 in the morning. The door knob on the back door needs replacement very easy to lock yourself out. Which we did. Once these are are addressed this house will be a 6 star location

Wonderful Thanksgiving!
We had a wonderful Thanksgiving at this location! We were able to spend time as a family, playing board games and fishing off the dock! We chartered a catfishing expedition with Captain Mark, and caught some big ones! We drove to Tybee Island and Harbour Island to tour two super cool lighthouses! We had a blast! We were able to cook Thanksgiving dinner at the cabin, thanks to a fully stocked kitchen. Ms. Barefoot was very helpful throughout the stay, from check-in to checkout! We definitely want to make the trip again. Thank you so much!
