The cabin was cozy, clean, and equipped with everything we needed. It has plenty of space to sleep 5-6 people, and the loft was a hit with the kids. The cabin's rustic charm perfectly matches the surroundings, which include a farm, small fishing ponds, and a larger pond where you can rent a small boat or kayak. The pavilion at the lake was also a nice feature that I wish we used more. Check in/check out was super easy, and the hosts were very friendly and responsive. In-cabin laundry is a huge plus.
Overall, we'd rate the property, the cabin, and the hosts 5 stars and would definitely stay again. I do wish the property was more walkable. The ponds were cute and there are wide open fields, but a small path circling the ponds or connecting the cabins would put this place over the top -- even a gravel or dirt path. Cars and trucks occasionally pass through the property at high speeds. We think it's a county road, so we don't think the owners can do anything about it. But, it's definitely something to be aware of if you have little kids. The property is plenty big enough to keep your kids away from the street. The property is close to Mammoth Cave, if you use the ferry. If not, it is about a 45-minute drive to the visitor center. The ferry will close if the river isn't high enough (it was closed to trucks and RVs during our stay). This definitely wasn't a problem for us but would have been good to know.
