Comfy house with all we needed.
Very close walk (2 minutes) to beach,very comfortable house,very clean ,had everything we needed.Comfy beds,lovely linen.Our little dog enjoyed it as well.

Lovely spacious cottage opposite off-leash dog beach
We had wonderful family holiday enjoying the Central Coast based at our McMasters Beach cottage. It was clean, with a well stocked kitchen, spacious outdoor deck with BBQ and sun lounges overlooking a leafy backyard. We visited the beach opposite the property with our a dog for a walk to the nearby ocean Rockpool. This is our second visit and we’ll be back again.

Lovely home in a truly beautiful location!
My partner and I (and our dog) absolutely loved our stay at this peaceful, relaxing and very welcoming home nestled in the treetops. It has everything you need for a great holiday - beautiful views, close to the beach, comfy beds and lounges, lovely bed linens, good kitchen, BBQ, modern appliances, lots of books & games and is very comfortable, clean and practical throughout. The location is just stunning and the large enclosed back deck is where we spent most of our time relaxing. Just a few short minutes walk to Macmasters Beach, the house is surrounded by trees and the local bird life is spectacular, particularly in the mornings and late afternoons. Gorgeous king parrots, lorikeets and kookaburras fly past and often land on the back deck, so you get to see and hear them at close range. Our dog loved hanging out on the back deck with us and it's also great for breakfast, BBQs and afternoon drinks. From the house it's a short 10 minute walk along the beach to Macmasters Surf Club cafe, or around 15-20 minutes walk along the beach to Copacabana beach, surf club, shops, cafes and restaurants. The beach is dog friendly which is brilliant, and Cochran's Lagoon is lovely, too. Bev was an excellent host and the house is very thoughtfully stocked with everything you may need. We absolutely loved our stay here, and hope to return again very soon - it's just such a beautiful place to relax and enjoy the natural surroundings.

Memorable weekend away with family & beloved pooches
We have had a wonderful stay. House was perfect for us. This was our first doggie holiday. A perfect location, doggies loved their 2 times a day beach walk. There is no fenced yard but the large deck was perfect for them. The home is clean and tidy and had all the necessary items for us to enjoy the holiday.eg. Boardgames Thank you for our stay

Perfect Getaway
This was such a great property to stay in and is so close to the beach. The house itself was equipped with all the comforts of home and is clean and tidy in a beautiful location. We loved it so much and will definitely be back! Highly recommend!

Beach house gem for family and small dog
Castaway is a beautiful wooden beach house just 100m walk to McMasters Beach. We chose the house because it could easily fit our family of five including two teens, our grandmother and our small cockerpoo. The house is well equipped with everything you need in the kitchen and outdoor BBQ. Best of all it has a fireplace as we were staying in the cooler months and super cosy warm beds. The house was spotlessly clean on arrival. I would only warn visitors arriving in the night that there is a dimly lit boardwalk to get to the front door. It’s just a short walk but you may need your phone light to navigate first time you enter.

Great location and very clean
We stayed over Easter for nearly a week. The house is in a great spot... so quite and so close to the beach. It was very clean. It is a little bit like a tree house in that the deck is quite high nestled amongst the trees so plenty of birds etc hanging about.

What a Gem!

Fantastic Stay at Castaway!

A great spot and comfy accommodation
Very easy access, 3 bedrooms with very comfortable beds, kitchen well equipped, a large deck over looking trees with lots of singing birds, very close to the beach that waves can be heard, dog friendly beach for our little dog, cafe with a view at Macmasters beach. It is a home away from home. Instructions are very clear and well thought of. Late check out on Sundays was certainly a blessing. Many thanks to Bev and Tom.

Beach, birds and bubbles!
Gorgeous house in a fabulous location. Tree top living right next to the beach. Really comfortable set up with enough room for 5 - nice touches of cold bubbly in fridge and bathroom toilteries. Beds are super comfy. The distance to the surf life flags on McMasters beach are nearer to the house than the ones on Copacobana - whole beach is a fabulous walk round. Bonus for us was the birdlife that come onto the balcony - absolute joy to be that close. Heads up - it's a steep driveway down to park a car (or 2) as the house is high up (tree top living remember!) Bev is hands down the most attentive owner to deal with. Highly recommend this house - only wish we had longer.

Beautiful tranquil treetop retreat
We were able to bring our dog along for the holiday with a dog beach so close by. This property is well maintained, carefully and generously appointed with kitchen utensils and things like oil and salt and pepper. Fabulous because I forgot to consider these items to pack. Away from busy streets and loads of birdlife. We used the fireplace which was cosy and warm and there were lots of games and books available to use. Thankyou for a lovely restful stay.

So relaxing
We had a short but really relaxing stay at Castaway. We were there in winter and made great use of the fireplace. Bev and Tom have really thought of everything - the house is kitted out with everything you need which makes it so much easier to just chill out. Highly recommended.

We had a wonderful stay at Castaway. The house was spotless and had all we needed to cook for a family of 5. It is just over the road from a off lead dog beach so our fur baby loved it as well. Bev was friendly and very easy to deal with, answering my texts straight away.

Fabulous beach holiday
Stayed for the weekend with my two teenagers and small dog. We all enjoyed the lovely home with fully equipped kitchen and bush outlook from the large covered deck and only a short walk to the off leash dog beach opposite. We will definitely come back for another visit.

Relaxing and easy holiday with the family
Castaway is a quick drive from Sydney and perfectly located across from the beach, easy with young kids and puppy. The house had everything you need if cooking but also an easy walk for a local meal or coffee, beds extremely comfortable, fire was perfect at Easter when it was a little cooler in the evening. Look forward to returning.

Relaxing dog friendly holiday
This was a lovely dog friendly house literally two minutes from a magnificent dog friendly beautiful beach. The house was lovely and clean, three good sized bedrooms with fresh crisp sheets. The balcony out the back was great to sit in and watch the colourful birds that visited. The house had absolutely everything you would need even a welcoming bottle of wine 😎I would highly recommend this house and would most certainly come back

Lovely house and beautiful town
Lovely, sparkling clean property with fabulous semi covered big deck nestled amongst trees. 1 minute walk to beautiful Macmasters Beach. Great place if you have a dog, very dog friendly beach with long off leash area. Dog friendly cafe at the beach, food is just ok but the view and vibe is wonderful. Terrigal is only 15 mins drive for your choice of many eateries. Note there is no fenced backyard so you will need to take your pet outside for toilet breaks. Would definitely recommend and come back!

Relaxing stay
We had a lovely week at Castaway, the first holiday with our dog. The property being so close to the beach was great, we were able to enjoy several walks a day in between the rain which persisted all week. The property had everything we needed, the kitchen had every pot, pan, bowl and gadget you could want. We had a very relaxing time.

The house was clean, nicely furnished and well equipped. Very close to the beach. Dined outdoor most days on the deck. Lots of bird life in the vicinity. I recommend the linen package - arriving to ready-made beds was a treat.

A little gem set overlooking a rainforest
We all enjoyed our little break at beautiful MacMaster's Beach. Even our wet days were special as we had many feathered friends seek shelter on the big back deck where the children could happily play while we all relaxed. The house with is well equipped with good facilities and easy access to the beach. The owner was wonderful to deal with.

Family getaway...with dog
The home is set amongst the trees tops with plenty of friendly birds & one or two possums spotted very close by. Macmasters Beach is dog friendly & is literally 2 minutes walk with the ocean pool, rock pools & surf club & patrolled beach a further 600 meters stroll along the most beautiful shoreline. The home is well appointed & tastefully decorated with quality furnishings & art . The kitchen is so well equipped with a selection of frypans saucepan racks, plastics, cutting boards...there is nothing you could possibly want that you won't find , all new & beautifully clean. A coffee machine (with complimentary pods) & a lovely bottle of wine to welcome weary travellers. The free WiFi (that actually works..no dropouts) kept the kids amused at night, while Mum, Dad & Nan sat on the enormous deck listening to the waves crashing in the distance, absolute bliss. Thanks Castaway.

Relaxing Beach Getaway
Castaway Beach House was a great place for our beachside holiday. Having stayed there previously and loved it we were delighted to return to enjoy the new renovations. Its in a great location with a pathway to the beautiful beach just opposite. Spotlessly clean and private, lovely calm and tanquil space with everything you need for a beach holiday. Loved the covered sunny deck, the visiting birdlife and the fireplace kept us warm in the evenings. Communication and check-in and out was a breeze. We will be back again and definitely recommend. Thanks Bev for a great break away.

Not worth your time and safety
Some strange guy turns up in the back of the property unannounced just walking around. We had to call the property manager for fear of this man lurking in the bushes (but no mobile reception). The property manager had been advised by letter, text and email but "didn't know about it" [the sewage works on the property] even though she opened the letter from the mail box right in front of us - the mail clearly wasn't checked. The strange guy was doing SEWAGE testing which meant that 'stuff' would have come back up from the toilets in the house if you catch my drift. The letter to the owner had advised that toilet lids needed to be closed and have a weight put on them to contain the sewage spilling out in the bathrooms. It was also advised that the fumes would impact the occupants. We agreed with the property manager on the spot that we would leave early as we were not going to clean the property's sewage in the bathrooms and she advised verbally that that was okay and we would get a refund for the 4 days we had unused (we had only been there for 3 days!). Then we get an email stating that there will be no refund because the sewage works will be pushed back to next week, even though the strange guy on the property had spray painted the grass and said he was coming back the next day....who to believe?? So we left before 10am on the Wednesday and never heard back from the property manager other than an email stating that she does not believe that we are entitled to a refund and subsequently, we left with 4 days unused never got a refund even though the enjoyment and safety of our vacation was impacted. So if you've got kids, just be careful of the safety here. And if you're a couple, don't walk around semi dressed as you can't tell if anyone is watching you from the bushes. And NO, the curtains are so sheer, you get no privacy and no peace of mind that you are not being watched. The house is decrepit and not worth it unless you're on an incredibly tight budget, but yet I would recommend you go camping instead. Severe ant problem, so you can't decant a wine without having hundreds of ants in it. The locks on both the front and balcony doorsare in a very poor condition and are not safe. No backyard and ability to drive one's vehicle down the driveway as it is far too steep to maintain traction and we had a hilux. They expect you to take out the council bins but won't compensate you, however, if you leave the BBQ messy, they will charge you...

The matter referred to in this review relates to an unfortunate misunderstanding by the guest about council works scheduled for a neighbour’s property, not this property. As a result of prompt action in contacting council by the property manager and owner to ensure the continuation of the peace and amenity the guest was enjoying, council generously agreed to postpone the planned works until after the guest’s stay. Despite immediate confirmation to the guest of this postponement of works on the neighbouring property, they chose to depart early. I am very disappointed that the guest has posted such as negative review of my property. The property is private and secure with deadlocks and bolts on doors and ample parking options are provided including under house parking for 2 cars and on street parking with direct access to front door via our walkway. Castaway Beach House has been welcoming guests for over 15 years, and has attained Premier Partner status due to the consistently positive responses from our guests. I invite potential guests to read the many outstanding 5 star reviews of previous guests’ experience at our property. I hope we can welcome you to enjoy Castaway Beach House. Bev
