This is a spacious cottage sitting on a nearly one-acre lot in a quiet neighborhood, you will see neighbors' houses behind trees on the property lines. If you are seeking seclusion or solitude, this may not be the right place for you. We are close to popular wedding venues: Stover Hall (9-min), Brendwood Lake (6-mn), Stoneyman Valley Ranch (8-min), Fair Brooke (19-min), South Fork Barn (16-min).
Escape to our cozy cottage, just 20 minutes from the Thornton Gap entrance to Shenandoah National Park! Soak in stunning Blue Ridge Mountain views from the deck, living room, and kitchen/dining area. With three bedrooms (two king beds and two twin beds with trundles) and two bathrooms, our space comfortably accommodates up to 6 adults and 2 children—perfect for families or small groups.
Relax on the deck, featuring a six-person hot tub, picnic table with umbrella, and electric BBQ grill. Head down to the Solo Stove fire pit, complete with six chairs (additional folding chairs available in the master bedroom closet).
Please note: The cottage’s ceilings are 83", so guests taller than 6'7" may find it less comfortable.

The house has mini-splits system throughout which allows you to control the temperature of each room to fit needs by different people. We also have a washer and dryer laundry tower so you can pack light even if you have a long stay. In the kitchen, we have a microwave, a range oven, a dishwasher, and a refrigerator. We offer a drip coffee maker, a Keurig K-cup coffee maker as well as a French press and a grinder for those who prefer bringing their own coffee beans. We supply a starter kit of ground coffee, K-cup pods, creams, sugars, and tea bags that should last for at least two days.
On the second floor, we have a foosball table. We also have chess, monopoly, Jenga, Uno, Sorry inside the media center in the living room (main floor). You will never be bored staying in our cottage even if your outdoor activities get spoiled by adverse weather conditions.
Nearby attractions: • Shenandoah National Park Thornton Gap Entrance -- less than 20-min drive (10.9 miles) • Lake Arrowhead: beach and kayak/canoe rentals are seasonal between Memorial Day and Labor Day. Luray Lake Arrowhead Fishing and Boating Permit is required for fishing -- 9-min drive (5.3 miles) • Luray Caverns: the largest cavern on the East Coast -- 14-min drive (7.8 miles) • Historic Downtown Luray: dining and shopping -- 12-min drive (7.2-miles) • Massanutten Resort: water park, golf, and skiing -- 39-min drive (27.9 miles) • Wisteria Farm and Vineyard: a rustic winery and vineyard for wine-lovers to visit -- 7-min drive (4.1 miles) • Bear Mountain Ziplines: offers zip-lining and wall climbing for anyone ages 5+ who is at least 36″ tall and 40 pounds -- 15-min drive (9.3 miles)
PURIFIED WATER—We installed a Reverse Osmosis filtration system under the kitchen sink to provide clean drinking water. Please use the water for drinking only--it takes time to filter the water and it takes more than one gallon of water to produce a one-gallon pure tasting water. So, please don't waste it on cleaning. Otherwise, you may have to wait for it to filter when you need to drink!
INTERNET—We have Xfinity high-speed broadband for our Internet connections. Enjoy steaming simultaneously in multiple rooms or stay connected via Zoom calls when you need to work remotely from our cottage!
HOT TUB—To reduce excessive use of chemicals, please make sure you shower before entering the tub. If you got tanning spray, please refrain from using the hot tub as it would stain the hot tub--if we cannot remove the stain, you will be charged the full amount ($4,000) to replace the hot tub. Keep the hot tub covered and running while not in use. You may adjust the temperature (control panel at the end of the cover lift). When you enter the hot tub, please flip half of the cover (from the deck center towards the back door) and rock the cover lift backward towards the back door. After your use, please lower the lift, and cover the tub with the lid so leaves and debris won’t get into the tub. An additional $150 will be charged for full drainage and refill of the spring water if food or drink is present in the tub. When you check out, please set it no lower than 95 degrees. We service and balance the water during each turn. If we drain and refill the water in the hot tub on the day you check in, you may have to wait until the next morning to enjoy it because the water may not reach the desired temperature on the same day.
FIRE PIT--We have a Solo Stove fire pit in front of the deck. Please bring your own firewood if you plan on using the the fire pit. For fire safety, please do NOT leave any open fire unattended. After each use, please extinguish the fire using the metal lid after your use--it will block the air so the fire will die down. When you check out in the morning, please put the waterproof cover back on.
PET POLICY—Only dogs are considered. No other animals are allowed without the host's prior approval. Up to two dogs (under 50 pounds) that are vaccinated and ticks & flea-free are allowed and are subject to a pet fee of $79. Dogs are not allowed on any furniture or in the hot tub. Do not leave your dogs alone on the property. Please let us know if your dogs are traveling with you in advance. To prevent accidents, we will prepare sofa covers (stored in the master bedroom closet) for both the sofa and the loveseat for you to use. Please put them on during your stay. We may charge for any extra cleaning, pest control, and/or damages caused by your dogs. Any unauthorized pet(s) found in or about the Rental Property will be grounds for expedited eviction and forfeiture of all monies paid. Guests are responsible for any cleaning charges, pest control costs, and damages caused by their unauthorized pets.
ELECTRIC GRILL—We provide an electric grill for guests to use on the deck. Please clean up the grill after use as our standard cleaning does not cover grill cleaning. Per guests' request, we can help cleaning the grill for $200.
PARKING—We have a designated parking lot that can fit four cars. We also provide another parking space in front of the carport that is close to the step-free ramp for those who have difficulty climbing steps.
EV CHARGER--We installed a Tesla EV charger near the parking lot. Bring your own converter for different EV models. Our guests can charge their EV for free!
MINI-SPLIT AND SMART TV —We have A mini-split in each room (NOT in the bathrooms) and TV in most bedrooms (NOT in the twin bedroom) so guests may adjust temperature to their own liking and stream their favorite programming. Please put the remotes back to their housing or the designated space before you leave. Guests will be charged for $200 for EACH missing remote.
GARBAGES—Please keep all your trash inside trash bags. We have an aluminum trash can in front of the carport. Please do not put any untied trash bags inside--our cleaner has to pick up the trash and bring them to the dumpster, so please keep everything inside the trash bag and make sure they are tied.
VIDEO SURVEILLANCE--There is a doorbell camera at the front door monitoring and recording all exterior entries, exits, and movements at the front side of the property for security purposes. It is on 24/7, but only records video and audio when there are movements (motion detected and activated around the clock-24/7). Videos may be stored for 1-365 days for security or house-rule breach review. There is no other surveillance inside or at the back side of the cottage.
SMOKE-FREE PROPERTY--Guests are prohibited from smoking cigarettes, e-cigarettes, marijuana, or using any illicit drugs at the premises (including both inside the cottage and on the ground). Any violation will result in a $1,000 fine and immediate termination of your stay with no refund.
NO PARTY RULE--We do not allow guests to use the cottage for any type of party. Quiet time is between 9 PM and 9 AM. Noise complaints reported by neighbors are the grounds for immediate termination of your stay with no refund.
NO DRONES--Please do not fly drones on the property or in any air space above our neighbors' properties. Drones are noisy and intrusive to neighbors' privacy. Please respect the neighbors and not to cause any nuisances or troubles in the neighborhood.
NO TRESPASSING--Please respect our neighbors' properties and privacy. Do NOT wonder beyond our property lines to ensure your safety.
COUNTERTOP--The butcher block counter top is NOT for cutting purposes. Please use the cutting boards we provide for any cutting needs. We will charge guest $300 to sand and reseal the butcher block countertop if cuts are found.
CLEANING FEE--The cleaning fee only includes the basic cleaning of the house. Please make every effort to leave the house as you found it (plus normal wear and tear). We will charge you an additional cleaning fee ($50/hr) for any of the following: • Grill cleaning • Stained towels, bedsheets, bed and duvet covers, walls, furniture, or other items • Garbage pickup (garbage that is outside the trash can or trash bag) • Liquid or food spills • Used pots, pans, kitchenware, utensils, and kitchen supplies not loaded in the dishwasher • Any additional cleaning or treatment that delays the normal turnover of the house

Awesome Stay!
This was an amazing getaway, close to the mountains, nice and quite but still nearby towns to get groceries and food! Shenandoah was so easy to get to, we did the old rag hike and Mary's rock which were unforgettable. Our pup was very comfortable during our stay. It felt like there was a lot of care put into this home making it feel very welcoming and like home.
