  • Swallow Point Retreat, construido a medida, diseñado por un arquitecto, con una casa de concepto abierto y una cabaña de estilo rural independiente, se encuentra en lo alto de los árboles, con vistas al océano en tres lados y tiene su propia playa y muelle privados.

    Esta propiedad está disponible para alquiler vacacional ya sea como casa solamente o como casa con cabaña.

    La casa cuenta con techos altos y paredes de ventanas de vidrio que dejan entrar mucha luz natural y aprovechan al máximo su entorno arbolado y ribereño. Esta arquitectura única ofrece un plano de planta único de dos pisos para vivir y dormir.

    La habitación familiar principal está abierta al segundo piso y tiene un área de descanso con chimenea a leña, así como un área elevada con puertas que dan a una amplia terraza con vista al agua. Esta habitación también cuenta con dos áreas de descanso tipo loft adecuadas para niños mayores, una a cada lado de la habitación, a la que se accede por escaleras y con lados abiertos. Debajo de cada altillo hay un armario y un área de escritorio, que se puede proyectar con cortinas.

    También en la planta principal se encuentran la cocina con barra de desayuno, comedor con terraza envolvente y baño completo. Hay una cama plegable Murphy en el comedor, que se puede cerrar por privacidad.

    El dormitorio principal está arriba. Ocupando todo el segundo nivel, está abierto al sonido desde las salas de estar a continuación, pero no se puede ver la cama Queen y el área separada de la oficina en el hogar. También hay un baño con ducha y lavandería.

    La cabaña de dos dormitorios y un baño se encuentra a poca distancia de la casa principal. Cuenta con una sala de estar con chimenea de leña y mesa de comedor, cocina pequeña con barra de desayuno, que incluye microondas de convección, dos placas de cerámica, gaveta del refrigerador y lavadora / secadora. Dormitorio con cama Queen size; Habitación con literas y espacio para una cuna. Baño con bañera / ducha combinado.

    La propiedad se encuentra en extensos terrenos privados a los que se accede por un largo camino de entrada. Los pasos conducen a su propia playa privada de arena y muelle.

Our stay was fantastic. The guest house was an added bonus for our family. The views were beautiful and it was a lovely spot to spend time with our family. Only draw back was the primary bed was old so our sleeps were not stellar.

Absolutely stunning views!!!! Not only from the decks but also from various places in the house especially from the great room with its two story windows facing the water. The house is well sited on the extraordinary property so the bedroom office area and a separate screened patio area have water views as well. Communication with the owner was excellent. Note: As mentioned in other reviews, the main bedroom is an open loft and the second "bedroom" is a Murphy Bed in the dining room, thus given the openness of the floor plan and the many windows, light and sound are quite exposed. Also, the house has multiple levels so best for those for whom that what not be a concern. The main house would be perfect for a couple - perhaps with older kids and/or limber adults who can take advantage of the 2 laddered lofts. Also, there is a very nice guest cottage on the property which offers 2 bedrooms as well as kitchen and living spaces. Chester, the nearby town is charming! Don't miss the Kiwi Cafe.. And make sure to visit Peggy's Cove and Lunenburg, both an easy drive away. Many thanks to the owner for offering this exceptional property.

Family Vacation

The main house was stunning and the view of the basin was amazing. The windows and decks gave an upscale tree house feeling. We may have seen seals! The cabin was quaint and beautifully decorated. Both homes were clean. We had everything we needed, even to make a fire on a chilly night. The stairs to the dock and beach were steep but there were benches in several spots on the way to rest. The path along the waterline was scenic. The location was secluded and quiet. There were plenty of nearby restaurants. We would definitely return and recommend this gorgeous home.

Dramatic, but some issues

PLUSES: • Dramatic home high on a hill on the end of a peninsula with water on three sides visible through three sets of two-story tall walls of glass and from open deck. • Magnificent panoramic view on open deck of Chester Basin (no waves). • Tiny private beach & dock • Close to Chester & Mahone Bay and their basic supermarkets • Lunenburg an easy drive • Responsive agent manages property • Cute small 2 bedroom bunkie with kitchen, 2 BR, 1 bathroom included • Private location, ultra quiet, fun to listen to the loons • Nice screened / glass porch • House won 1991 Nova Scotia design award • Good whole-house water filtration system—well water tastes and smells fine • All Nova Scotians are always so nice! • The minuses did not overpower the pluses (for us) MINUSES: • There are no real bedrooms: the Master BR is an open private loft on upper level with bathroom • There are two small loft beds accessed by steep ladders on either side of one (of two) living rooms. Murphy Bed is in the dining room • One bathroom on the 1st floor • ALL rooms on BOTH levels are separated by a few steps up and down which may be fall hazards to seniors or toddlers – ie steps up to master bed and from DR to kitchen • The stairway to the small beach is about six flights down (and up) stairway • Cleaning crew does not do an adequate job on the kitchen; agent said he would address that; there were dirty pots and appliances; dishwasher is long-in-the-tooth / marginal • TV but not live streaming

Another great week at Swallow Point

Another perfect week behind us from staying at this unique and private property in Chester Basin. Close enough to the amenities of Chester and an easy drive to Mahone Bay, this property offers a tranquil escape from the every day. This is our second year staying at Swallow Point, and we were just as thrilled as before with the property, the main house and the separate cottage. Swimming off the dock was a real joy, the kids were exhausted by 9pm, the sunsets overlooking the water were spectacular, and everyone slept soundly. What more could you ask for in Nova Scotia?

Truly special

What a unique and memorable stay we had at this breathtakingly beautiful property! The house won a well-deserved architectural award in the 1990s-the property is amazing with views from every window. I walked the gorgeous path along the point every day-very peaceful and just exactly what my friend and I hoped for and more. The house is very well-equipped for everything you need for your stay. The location was private yet only a short drive into Chester and Mahone Bay if you care to drag yourself away from those views! Paul was very prompt at getting back to us for little things we needed. The little cottage was an extra treat and also very well-equipped - can't say enough positive things about this beautiful property!

Spectacular Property

Enjoyed 10 days at this wonderful property. The main house is large and airy with enormous windows that provided breathtaking views of Chester Basin. The cottage is a delight and very cosy. Highly recommend this very private property.

Slice of Heaven in Chester Basin

In terms of a Nova Scotian holiday, the swimming beach, dock and views from the property cannot be beat. The home itself is impressive in its design and situation on the land, well cared for and has all the amenities needed for a family vacation, but still offers a relaxed, cottage vibe. On account of the location, the internet was slow and spotty at times, and on account of a 16-year old trying to fix it, became a bigger issue - but the Property Manager and owner were very kind to help us resolve it during our stay. We miss our week at Swallow Point road, and 100% hope to return to this slice of heaven someday.

The Birdhouse!

Very cool award winning architecture puts you up high in the trees with amazing views. We didn’t know about the trampoline which was a big hit with the kids. Kids also enjoyed the private sandy beach when the tide is low. Bring your fishing rod this time of year with the Makerel running. Had a small problem with the wifi but was resolved quickly by management. Only real challenge we had was we brought a boat but the floating dock was not connected to the wharf. We had to borrow a mooring and a kayak to make it work. We would definitely return.

Terrific Family Vacation

Our family enjoyed our week in the main house and cottage. Perfect set up with the grandparents in the cottage and the kiddies and mom and dad in the ‘mansion’ as the kiddies called it. Lots of swimming and fishing and a couple trips to local beaches!

Beautiful property surrounded by water.

This place is a true gem! My family loved our two-week stay in this one of a kind property. The architect that designed this house did an unbelievable job of ensuring that everywhere you look is a breathtaking view of Nova Scotia's natural beauty. The giant windows overlooking Chester Basin and the extremely tall ceilings will create a visceral reaction in you that must be experienced. Other things I loved: 1. The grounds are extensive! You can basically go for mini nature hikes while on the property. 2. You will always have a place to sit. There are so many comfortable couches and chairs that you have no choice but to just relax wherever you are. Which is exactly what we all need. 3. The design. The house is just fascinating. It's clear that the architect of this property thought into every aspect of how this house works. From the lights inside the stairs to log hovering over the kitchen stove, there are so many aspects of this house that add to its unique aesthetic. I wasn't surprised that is had won awards. 4. You have everything you need. The kitchen is very well equipped, the beds and bedding are comfortable and clean. 5. The cottage. The cottage is just as nice as the main house. It's stylishly decorated with lovely little kitchen. If you have a larger group, you can be confident that everybody will have a great place to sleep. My kids and wife would definitely come back to this place. Highly recommended!

fabulous location with wonderful views. great place to get away yet close to Chester, Lunenburg. would go back anytime.
