  • Kentucky State University was chartered in May 1886 as the State Normal School for Colored Persons, only the second state-supported institution of higher learning in Kentucky.[1] During the euphoria of Frankfort's 1886 centennial celebration, the city donated $1,500 towards the purchase of land for a new college on a bluff overlooking Frankfort. The new school formally opened on October 11, 1887, with three teachers, 55 students, and John H. Jackson as president.[1] Recitation Hall (now Jackson Hall), the college's first permanent building, was erected in that year. KSU became a land-grant college in 1890, and the departments of home economics, agriculture and mechanics were added to the school's curriculum.[1] The school produced its first graduating class of five students in the spring of that year. A high school was organized in 1893. This expansion continued into the 20th century in both name and program. In 1902, the name was changed to Kentucky Normal and Industrial Institute for Colored Persons. The name was changed again in 1926 to Kentucky State Industrial College for Colored Persons.

Yes the house is nice and it is close to downtown and the distilleries. My only complaint is the house is on a busy street but the curtains in the bedrooms had shear panels and allowed a lot of noise and light into the bedrooms.

This house is in a perfect location for any type of touring you want to do in this part of Kentucky. It has a great amount of space for a small family/group to spread out and the hosts have perfected the bourbon theme/vibes of the area. The beds are comfortable and the bathrooms have amazing water pressure if that is something you look for when booking places. We had a small issue with the internet and the host responded within minutes (including giving us his personal number for any additional issues). We highly recommend this property for folks who love touring bourbon country or who just want a quaint, relaxing stay.

The house was very nice and well kept. Very clean. Lots of cute notes located around the house. Needs were comfy. Owner gave us great tips for our trip, which came in handy. My only complaint would be there are no curtains or blinds on the front door, and the side windows have thin sheers.

Stayed for a long weekend exploring the bourbon trail! The property was perfect!! Great location, super clean, excellent hosts who gave awesome recommendations and made our check-in/out process stress free! The house was equipped with everything we needed and had great bourbon themed decor. Easy parking too!

No hassle check-in and out. Owners were quick to reply. Close to Kroger for getting food. There were a couple things I felt were missing at the house... a window blind on the front door and a round pan to fix our pizza. Other than that, it was a very nice stay.

This was my first time renting this home. Nathan was kind to allow us to check in a couple hours early which was very much appreciated after a 14 hour drive. The home was comfortable and clean. They are equipped with everything you could possibly need. I absolutely would stay here again.

It is a lovely, charming little home perfect for two couples. Super clean and very well stocked with all the essentials. We loved that there were basic seasonings and condiments for cooking and many suggestions for dinner and excursions nearby. We had a couple of questions during our stay and the hosts were very responsive. Very conveniently located between Louisville and Lexington.

We really enjoyed our stay. The home was lovely with a great layout and open space. The bedrooms were cozy, bathrooms/showers were large which was great for all of us getting ready for a wedding. Spent one day shopping in Midway a cute town. Unfortunately weather did not cooperate for trip to Keenland, but maybe next time!Also the hosts were great at responding to my many questions.

Our recent stay at this home was just a short drive from the Kentucky bourbon Trail, and true to its description and former reviews. We loved the location and the easy access to downtown Frankfurt and surrounding distilleries. Our favorite distillery was Castle and Key, and we appreciate the owners’ recommendation to visit the beautiful grounds.

A great location, quiet and a beautiful river behind the house to enjoy. The water pressure was kinda low in the showers, but not a deal breaker.If you are going to do much cooking, take some pans , pot holders etc.I would stay again for sure.
