So much potential for a couple of getaway days at the beach only to be disappointed. My wife and I have lived in Latin America for several years. We have used VRBO in the US, Mexico and now Nicaragua.
Playa Tesoro is isolated, you need a guide to find their place and it's best is you have a 4x4 to get in and out. We were prepared for that. What we were not prepared for was to find the casita in such filthy conditions. It had not been cleaned since the previous guests, 3 days closed up with garbage overflowing the kitchen garbage can. The little bathroom waste can, the one you use for your paper waste.... Well it"s probably never been cleaned.
The young guy(Luis) at the property was sorry and hustled to get the place cleaned up but it was a sad start.
I mentioned the property is isolated which was great until we came to find out that the restaurant doesn't always have food to prepare. Night 2 passed with no dinner. Learning point; take plenty of food with you.
That said the beach was great, beautiful black sand, and the buggy boarding was a blast. We wanted a laid back getaway and that we got.
