It can be so difficult to find the perfect place to stay but this was it - everything about the cottage, location and hosts was absolutely right. The cottage was spotlessly clean (I pity any hopeful spiders, because they didn't stand a chance), beautifully and tastefully decorated, equipped to a terrifically high standard (three different ways to make coffee and a milk frother!) and so, so comfortable. Views across Dartmoor in the morning were idyllic. The local produce - home-cured bacon, sausages and eggs, home-baked bread - was delicious, and we took some home at the end of the stay.
The cottage is perfectly located for central Devon and into Cornwall, walks on West Dartmoor or the north coast. East Dartmoor was a little further away - we visited Dartington Hall for a beautiful walk along the river Dart, seeing no fewer than three kingfishers, although this was about an hour and a quarter's drive so not quite so accessible.
We would highly recommend the walk around Meldon reservoir and up to Black Tor (a bit boggy part way around), the Granite Way cycle track from Okehampton over to Lydford (tea at the National Trust site at Lydford Gorge), and the Tarka Trail (walking or cycling) from Okehampton up to Instow and onwards. For local towns, Launceston and particularly Tavistock are very pleasant.
Georgina was the perfect host, showing us around the property on arrival (so often with places you are just left a keycode to a lockbox for entry, but not here, we were given a proper tour of the cottage), From then on we were left to ourselves, but Georgina was always available to answer any queries - not that there were any.
Overall I can confidently say that this is one of the best cottages that we have ever stayed in, and I am sure that we will be returning. Thank you, Georgina, for making our stay so pleasant.
