Great place with exceptional service.

Great place as a base for exploring the Borders. Overall stay was good. Room was exceptionally clean(had a couple of minor niggles but these were dealt with happily and swiftly). Stayed in a double which was quite small (with only one bedside table). Would 'upgrade' to a larger room if staying again. The best thing about this hotel is the people and the outstanding service they provide-nothing too much trouble and so friendly. Ooh- and good food including a fab breakfast.

Lovely, clean property situated in the Scottish Borders. Spacious room, with excellent breakfast included. Friendly staff. Good choice on dinner menu & specials board; very tasty and reasonably priced. Good position made travel to local towns for sightseeing easy.

Amazing breakfast menu......all included in the price. Great food in the bar/ restaurant. We stopped here at short notice due to bad weather. Very welcoming and friendly staff.

Great food, drink and service

Food, bar and service was amazing. Very good quality and price! Shower was a little poor and cold water was as warm as the hot tap. Minor things that can be improved in the future.

Great family room with bunk beds in a separate little area. Friendly staff. Excellent food. Great dinner menu, recommend the steak pie 👍. Room was clean and adequate. Bed mattress needs replacing but I still slept well. No shower in room only tub. Squeaky door and fluorosis but an old building so to be expected. Not all channels came in on TV. Good advice on running and walking trails. Excellent breakfast.

Stayed with grandchildren. Wonderful 2 bedroomed family accommodation in hotel. Food was perfect for the family and staff made us all welcome. Convenient location travelling south from Scotland on East side of the country.

Lovely stay in a perfect twin room, tastefully decorated with excellent ensuite, including a bath. Enjoyed a vey good meal. Service was quick and staff were very helpful. Would definitely recommend.

A wonderful small private country hotel set in the open countryside of the borders of Scotland about 40 minutes from Edinburgh. The staff are very friendly and wiling to go the extra mile to make your stay memorable. The food is wonderful, both Dinner and Breakfast. The hotel itself is very comfortable, and has that welcome feeling, the room whilst quite small was very good and more than adequate. We would be regular visitors if we did not live over 200 miles away.

The decor is rather dated and some road noise could be heard, but did not disturb our sleep,staff really friendly, excellent meals very clean would highly recommend a stay not far from Edinburgh lots of local attractions within easy reach.

Lovely place! Amazing meals

We stopped over for the night traveling through England to Scotland and I wish we would have stayed there for a longer period of time bc it was such a lovely place. We are a family of 5 with a 6 month old, 3 yr, and 5yr old and it was very family oriented place. They had different sitting options to eat and we went to the section with the children’s toys and little kitchen for the kids to play with while we ate. The food is absolutely amazing! We ate dinner and breakfast there and it was perfect! The rooms were very clean and perfect for our family. If we ever travel that way we will for sure stop there.

Great 2 Night Short Break with Friends

We stayed here for 2 nights in August 2018. We were on a trip with friends, who were in the family room (double bed and a bunk bed in adjoining room), we were in a standard double. The hotel staff were very good at organising the best room arrangements for us. The room was really clean and the towels were large and of excellent quality. The bottles of water and homemade short bread (replenished each day) were very much appreciated. We ate in the hotel one of the nights and it was good quality but not a lot of choice for vegetarians. The breakfast choice was excellent and our friends (who are not vegetarian) enjoyed the kippers and salmon. They did an huge cooked breakfast, including vegetarian option with vege sausages. Also try the granola and berries - excellent. The hotel is a little tired in parts and the shower was not the best (though very consistent temperature) and it is not quite as remote as the pictures show. It is quite close to the main road but the views are lovely and very rural. I would stay here again. Free wifi was excellent.
