Beautiful location, saw a bald eagles, squirrels, ducks and Canadian geese. The Sioux river creates a rushing water cascade heard from the porch. Loved the electric fireplace kept the place nice and cozy in the winter time. Went to the stensland dairy self pay store and bought fresh ice cream, cheese curds and canned goods. Also, had lunch at calico skies winery and had wine tasting. Big garage we could park our F250 in very comfortably. Easy check in with keypad. Loved relaxing in the large hot tub on the lower porch area. Comfortable bed and plenty of room. Appreciated the WiFi and cable TV. Kitchen very nice my husband loved the very non stick pans! Nice large fridge.

This cabin was perfect! The amenities were abundant, views were breathtaking and sunsets stunning. From the geese, to the Eagles and cardinals and even the squirrels we had lots of entertainment. Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin with us . We will be back!!

Beautiful place and surroundings (even on some very cold days). Your home is very cozy and comfortable. We really enjoyed our stay on the Big Sioux and would recommend it to friends and family.

This place was honestly perfect for my family and me. We spent so much quality time together, which is really important to us, and when we needed our own space, the rooms were laid out perfectly for that too. Everything was clean and well cared for, and one of our favorite things was that the property doesn’t allow animals—no fur, no smells, just a really fresh, comfortable space.We truly, truly loved it. The views were amazing. The hot tub was perfect. The gathering spaces were beautiful and inviting. The kitchen was awesome and had everything we needed to make it feel cozy and easy, like a real getaway. The fireplaces were such a great touch too. Honestly, I could go on and on about this place.We are a bit of a crunchy family, so we unplugged the air-freshener plug-ins while we were there (and plugged them back in before we left), but that’s just a personal thing. The sound of the river was incredible—so peaceful and calming. The deck was another favorite spot for us.I think this place is especially amazing in the winter. Sitting in the hot tub with those views was unbeatable. I’m sure it’s great in the summer too, though I’d imagine there might be some mosquitoes with the river and all the trees—but even then, it would still be worth it.If you’re thinking about a winter getaway, book this place immediately. Even over Christmas weekend, the price felt very reasonable for the value we got. The hosts were easy to work with, and once we were settled in, we didn’t hear

Host was very prompt with replies to questions. Great location! Loved the view of the river from the hot tub. Nice short walk to the river bridge, beautiful.House had everything we needed, loved the large dining table. Worked perfect for out group of 7 women.Would love to stay here again!

Enjoyed the large deck overlooking the river. Check in was easy once we figured out the proper code for small garage door vs keypad(river side). Inside was impressive, all bedrooms were large. Comfortably fit seven(7) people with room to spare. Plenty of linens and other daily use items.Good call on making certain to check the dehumidifer in utility room!

Location was great!! Away from town, fantastic view, listening to river water noise on rocks is soothing. Bring your binoculars for bird watching.Need to remove horrible pee smell inside cabin. They have air purifiers going, but not helping at all.Remove the pee smell and this is a 5 star location!!!

Wonderful relaxing weekend

Beautiful cabin with relaxing view of the river. The perfect space for gathering with friends to kick back and relax on the deck, inside while playing games, or in the hot tub. Felt like a secluded resort! Great communication with the hosts.

Pretty cabin on the river

Very pretty cabin with a lot of space. The main problem was not being able to get inside the cabin when we first arrived and operating the garage door wasn't easy, so that was a bit of a hassle, but the river is probably the nicest location for a cabin in the area. Nice to hear the rush of the water outside. Balcony is a relaxing spot to bird watch. 30 min to Sioux Falls for sites and restaurants. Pahoja recreation area is close by, as is Calico Skies Winery. Both are very nice places to visit. Cabin is nicely decorated and the beds are comfy.

Amazing for family get together

This place was so great! My whole SD family came for Thanksgiving dinner. There were enough places for everyone to eat. There was plenty of beds for those that stayed, and the bedding/pillows were great! The hot tub with the view was amazing. The outside and inside pictures do not do this lovely cabin justice. Perfect place! Warm and cozy. LOTS of bald eagles! Would love to come in Spring time to canoe/kayak the river. I’m from the area but needed a place for my family and I to set up base. Perfect! The owners were amazing and responsive.

Larchwood hideaway

We've stayed here before and loved it. Again as before, it was lovely! The only thing that would have been better is if the wind had let up! It made almost impossible to enjoy the lovely deck. We'll be back.

Girls' Weekend

Lots of steps for 3 old ladies! (62 years old). Getting in and out with having to open the garage door every time. The house itself was beautiful and peaceful. We felt that the chores that we were expected to do were unnecessary.
