Extremely disappointing and unsafe experience. This is a basement unit with no access to control the heat. It was cold and rainy, and the furnace wasn’t working. After contacting the owner, he had me troubleshoot the furnace myself. When that failed, he came onsite—disrupting our stay with my wife and two kids present. He spent about 30 minutes inside, even rummaging through kitchen drawers looking for a lighter. He said he’d try to get a furnace tech out “over the weekend,” meaning we’d be without heat that night.At my request, he brought two very old space heaters that tripped a circuit when used. He later returned, showed me the breaker panel, and suggested I figure out which outlets to use and reset the breakers myself if needed. We ended up with four space heaters and decided to leave due to the risk of fire and continued electrical issues.We were there less than three hours and requested a full refund, which was denied. We were told only a partial refund would be issued, minus VRBO fees. I asked for those fees to be refunded too—no response since.Also, earplugs were provided in each bedroom, likely because the upstairs is rented out separately. This wasn’t clearly disclosed. Overall, poor communication, unsafe conditions, and no accountability. Rent at your own risk.
