  • Welcome to La Ponderosa, our little ranchette located in the heart of the hill country. This is where you come to relax and get away from the city lights. You can enjoy nights of star gazing along with spectacular sunrises and sunsets while listening to the peaceful sounds of nature surrounded by the large Live Oaks. Only a few minutes away from downtown Lampasas where you can find antiques, groceries and many home cooked meals. Less than four miles away from two award winning Texas wineries.

Quaint little rustic cabin was perfect for our family of four. We enjoyed the simple set up of the cabin, no over thinking required. We stargazed and made smores in the evening and it was a short drive to Colorado State Park for daytime hikes and swimming in the spring. Great little cabin!

Everything was great, from the moment i pulled and was welcomed by several blackbelly sheep. The cabin was very clean and comfortable. It was quiet and very peaceful, just what i needed after two brutal months in retail. Legato winery is only 3 miles away. I will definitely return.

This cabin is cozy and the A/C was efficient. The fire pit is nice and came with wood. The goats/sheep? were fun companions along with a few other interesting critters. It couldn't have been more peaceful and quiet. It was a truly restful place and we plan on returning asap.

We loved the cabin, bed was awesome a/c was cold. We had a small issue with the water heater but Kent took care of it promptly. Will definitely stay again if we are in the area. The best part of the trip was the visits from the sheep!!!!

Everything was easy from booking, to locating, communicating, and checking out. The house was super clean and cozy. Loved the decor. It was even nicer than the pictures.

We stopped at a local store to grab some breakfast stuff. Their little kitchen had all the basic essentials to whip up a meal, and they even had a coffee machine. (Side note: it's a Keurig! We were a bit worried they wouldn't have one, so we brought our own, but they had everything we needed there.)

Lampasas cabin

We really enjoyed our stay. Cabin is just like the pictures indicate. Cabin was very clean. We loved the large front porch. The cabin is an excellent place for watching birds and other animals.

Country Cabin

Enjoyed the cabin and the secluded area it provided to just relax and enjoy the outdoors. The porch is also a great addition to have a cup of coffee in the morning. 2 bedrooms provided enough space for 3 adults. Definitely provided the cabin feel!

Very quite. Quaint. Loved how rustic it is. Wish there was better lighting in the bathroom over the mirror. Floors sqeaks but that is part of the charm.

Beautiful Hill country setting

Very nice, clean and peaceful get away. The place is in great shape, had everything we needed,no issues at all except we wanted to stay a few days longer. Enjoyed watching all the critters and a 20 drive to Colorado State Park. The host Kent was great. Thanks again for the opportunity.

Colorado Bend State Park hunting trip

Your property is perfect for us deer hunters. It’s rustic and very private . We appreciate you had wood for the fire pit. That was nice sitting outside around the fire pit. We had extra deer feed, and my cousin enjoyed feeding them .
