Awesome Getaway

We spent 5 days at Lori and David's house on the lake. It was wonderful...Lori and David made it so personable...keeping in touch and making sure that we were happy. The communication is certainly above any other.

Tufts Lake Shasta Vaca-2023

You will be very happy if you rent this house for your Shasta trip!! Our 2023, Lake Shasta family vacation was absolutely the best because we stayed at Shasta Lake House Retreat #1. Shasta Lake House #1 is on the lake, in a perfectly protected cove behind Sugarloaf Marina. The house is located on a quiet road with great parking in the long driveway for our large truck & our sons car & for the boat trailer at the road level, on a large gravel pad. By chance we met the owners, Lori & David as we were turning onto the road & wondering "can we turn around with our boat & trailer at the end of the road?" The answer is "YES"! Lori & David are the perfect hosts & are the nicest people. They really take pride in their property & care that you are happy with your stay in their home. Shasta Lake House #1 was the perfect size for our group, even for our pooches who came along. There is seating upstairs & downstairs for quite a few people. 2 bathrooms, 1 upstairs & 1 downstairs. Three bedrooms, 2 downstairs & the main bedroom upstairs, all with very comfy beds. The kitchen has everything you need to cook meals. The lake views from the back decks are absolutely breathtaking! The decks have lots of seating to take in all the beauty of the lake. We were able to anchor our boat right behind the house in the protected cove & the path from the house to the boat was quick & easy access to the lake for lots of boating fun. You'll love this house for your Lake Shasta vacation too! .

Great rental and very friendly hosts

The house itself was very nice. We really enjoyed staying here. There were some minor issues with cleanliness, but Lori was super helpful and helped address it even though it was pretty late at night. The lake has moved further away from the property and is a .25-mile walk to get to the lakefront, which was a bit of a disappointment, but nothing that the hosts could do much about. Overall, excellent stay and great hosts. Highly recommend if you will be in the Shasta area. Hopefully, the water levels will improve in the coming years.

This is no longer a lakefront property

The home itself is nice, clean, modern and nicely furnished. The problem is that the house is advertised on VRBO as lakeside. It is not. Every picture showing the exterior shows a full lake just feet from the deck. After years and years of drought, the water is almost a half mile from the house. Yes, the property owners provide a link to the lake's water level, but it doesn't tell you how low the water is on the tributary branch of the lake. The effects of the drought have affected all commercial activities within miles of this property - most restaurants have closed, there is no marina nearby, not sporting or leisure activities. It's basically a nice house in the woods with little to do or see. I think it is misleading and deceptive for this property to show photos that are clearly years and years old - before the horrible drought. I would never stay here again or recommend to anyone. It will take years for this lake rise over 130 feet again.

I would definitely stay here again

Great location. Very clean. Very well maintained. Beautiful views even when lake is low. Kitchen fully stocked with pots, pans dishes etc. Plenty of room and seating inside and outside.

Perfect location!

The house was nicely updated, well stocked and the location was perfect! Owners were super helpful and responsive. Incredibly short drive to Sugarloaf, great covered deck to hang out on when the weather was a little questionable. Couldn’t be happier!

Highly recommend for intergenerational family time

We were extremely pleased to find an accessible home to take Grandma on vacation. Retreat #1 has a wall of windows on the upper level with gorgeous views of the surrounding trees, mountains and lake (we woke up to a dusting of snow!). Both levels are tastefully decorated with nice flooring, and have comfortable furniture to help with relaxation. The pellet stove on the upper level and gas heater on the lower level kept us cozy, and we appreciated the wonderful extra features of gas BBQ, heat lamp and spa (lower deck) outside. Owners Lori and Dave exceeded our expectations by providing detailed information about the home, communicating with us regarding lake level, weather and road conditions, as well as promptly responding to our questions. And we also loved the gift basket!

Lovely Vacation Home!!

Loved the house and location and the information that was provided by the owners was really accurate information. Only that the weather was rainy for us but everyone enjoyed the house and the view we spent there. I would recommend booking in the summertime so that you can enjoy everything that comes with this vacation home and location. I would love to return again to be able to enjoy it during the summer months. Thank you Lori and Dan for letting us share this experience on your vacation Retreat #1!

Fifth fantastic vacation in five years

Hosts are great people who strive to make our vacation stays the best they can be. Because the lake was low, only two open launch sites. Made for a drive, 25 minutes to dam for launch. This is not a complaint, just the only way onto the lake with the boat. Fishing was great.

Relaxing and plenty of room

We rented 2 houses next to each other (same owner) to attend a family wedding. It was easy to go back and forth between houses. We entertained on the deck (plenty of room). The kitchen was well-equipped and all appliances worked well. There are extra cots which we ended up using when 3 relatives were stranded by a power outage and fire. Our power was also out for a few hours but there is a generator that worked well.

amazing home

as soon as we walked in we were so happy to see how beautiful and well taken care of the home was, you can tell they take pride in it and try and make the guests as comfortable as possible. even with the lake being low we had a wonderful time.. we hope to be back next year and praying there will be more water :)

First time at Shasta

Owner’s are very on top of your stay and have great communication. We found everything we needed except lake water. Not their fault and knew lake levels were low. We still had a great 3 day stay and can definitely see ourselves returning.

Beautiful Place!

Stayed with family over the holiday weekend. We all enjoyed our stay, plenty of room and the kitchen was fully stocked. The house was super clean and the host left us a welcoming gift! So thoughtful. We would definitely rent this house again. Thanks Lori!

The house was very cute and cozy. Many things were provided. If the lake was somewhat full and the skies were not so Smokey we might of had a different experience. The pictures that were posted were very misleading to what we saw as far as lake levels at the lake house and how Smokey it actually was. There was almost no water behind our lake house #1. There a few other things I will address to the the owners directly. Overall it was nice.

Great vacation home

We had a great time at Shasta Lake. The owners were very helpful and quick to respond to any questions about the lake. They provide updates to the area on their website often. The deck has gray views and we saw deer almost every day. We moored our boat at Bridge Bay due to the low water. It is an easy drive with plenty of lake left. We enjoyed kayaking and paddling from the Sugarloaf boat launch! We hope to stay again in the next few years!
