Beautiful Family House on the Lake

  • This family lakefront property has been in the Stanton family for four generations. The original log cabin was replaced in the early 1980s by an architect designed spacious house that can comfortably hold a crowd or be intimate enough for a small group. It is situated on a large lakefront lot on the eastern shore of North Lake Leelanau with private woods to the south and deck overlooking the lake. The sunsets are breathtaking. This house provides easy access to the water with a long pier and unique recreational dock with boat lift. Boat launch is just 1/2 a mile down the road from the house. We also enjoy the only private marina on the lake so guests can easily dock their boats, ski-dos or a pontoon boat (available for rental in Lake Leelanau). The lakefront area is safe and easy for swimming and the water is crystal clear. There is no sandy beach at our site, but Nedow's Beach is reachable by boat right across the lake. Sunny rear patio is great for windy days and is off the kitchen for easy outdoor cooking. There is a fire pit for lakefront campfires.
    The house includes:
    a large, comfortable master bedroom with private bath.
    Guest bedroom with full size and semi-private full bath.
    And two great bunk rooms with eight twin beds total and a full bath.
    LARGE lake viewing living/dining room with seating for lots of people inside, not including all the outside areas for BBQ. The sunsets from the house are unimaginable.
    The house is set up with quiet and social zones so kids and adults can enjoy the house and not be on top of each other. The Lake House is a one of a kind place that is rarely available for rental. You'll love it. We do.

It was a wonderful spacious and beautiful house located in a gorgeous location. The amenities in the house were perfect and the whole process from check in to check out was smooth. We would most definitely stay again.

This is the fourth time we have stayed at The Stanton Cottage and every time it never disappoints! The home is well cared for and full of family and Leelanau County History. It is a special place on the lake for us and we look forward to future stays. Host Karen is super responsive and helpful with all aspects of a rental! Check-in was super easy and upon entry, clean and cool before the heat set in! Great dock and swimming location so no worries if you are there when it’s hot! We look forward to our next stay at a Leland treasure!

Absolute Perfection

We were overjoyed the minute we walked into this gorgeous home. The views are breathtaking. Everything that we could have possibly needed was provided. Our three kids and four adults all had a wonderful week.

Works great for a family

The sprawling nature of this lake house allows for a family to be very comfortable. Outdoor living accommodates a family, as well, with large decks and grassy areas. Well stocked and quiet. We had a couple questions for the owner and everything was taken care of promptly.

Lake Leelanau at its best

This is a great cottage for a large group. It is like having two separate wings. This lets us put kids down for naps in a completely quiet space. The owner responds quickly to questions and makes sure the issues are resolved. Large outdoor area as well. Very quiet neighborhood. And of course the lake is spectacular.

lake get a way

Beautiful old family cottage with gorgeous views of Lake Leelanau. Cottage is filled with family items and feels very homey, but needs some updates. I had understood there were two queen beds, but actually only one queen and one full-sized bed (plus the 8 twins/bunk beds). Kitchen very well stocked with dishes and pots and pans. We had plenty of room to spread out, loved the upper and lower decks for enjoying the sunsets.

Last week of June 2024

The house was perfect for the dynamic of our group of multiple families and kids. The area and house are the quintessential Leelanau experience. Biking into Leland or Lake Leelanau is an easy to moderate ride. I'm just guessing, but there are at least a dozen wineries within 15 minutes drive. The pictures of the inside do not do justice for how much space there is in the house. The house is well built and exterior is well cared for. We loved it and plan to come back in 2025.

We had a fabulous week in this beautiful house. It's much bigger than the pictures show. The bunk rooms are in a separate wing with the pool table room so we adults actually had some quiet time. The kitchen is small but we survived and helped the local economy by eating out a lot. Do wish it wasn't a double bed. We moved one of the bunk mattresses to the floor to accommodate an adult. The decks and views are just beautiful. There are 3 full bathrooms which is not clear in the listing.

Wonderful family

Loved the home layout and spectacular view from the dining area and deck. Easy checkin and excellent communication with the host. Home is better than the pictures show. Well-equipped kitchen, 2 grills, 3 kayaks. Special touches like lights/electric sockets for each bunk bed. Great pool table. Host warned us about swimmer’s itch this year and one of us got it. Home has a casual, vintage charm. Minor flaw that didn’t affect our stay: some windows don’t work. We loved it and hope to return!

Enjoy fun-filled days and breath-taking sunsets

Our family had a fantastic week at the lake house. We hiked, swam, kayaked and enjoyed this beautiful home. The area has lots of enjoyable activities. So much to do and so much to see, a wonderful vacation land!

Extraordinary Lake Leelanau Property

Wonderful summer getaway

This home was very clean compared to other homes that we have rented. We had 4 adults and 5 young kids and the bunk beds were great for the kids and the one floor was great for getting around easily. The dock was close and good railings on the outdoor stairs to get up and down. The house is adorable and we will be back. Thank you for sharing your lovely home.

Beautiful location

We thoroughly enjoyed our long weekend getaway at this lovely, spacious, north woods home. Gorgeous views of the lake with plenty of room for 3 couples to spend time together and spread out away from each other when desired.

Nice get away!

Nice get away from the everyday hustle and bustle of a big city. Clean home on the water with lots of space ,and everything you need to stay for a week or beyond. We loved that there were plenty of pot, pans and cooking/grilling utensils. The grill really came in handy. If you like to fish, there are plenty of places to fish nearby including the dock at their home.

Total paradise

We loved staying here over LDW! Great for large groups or multiple families. Very pet and family friendly. Incredible location right on Lake Leelanau- turquoise water right outside with excellent lake access (beach and docks). We loved the entertaining spaces outside- multiple decks, bonfire pit. The sunsets from the house were so great! The house is spacious with plenty of room inside for our group- two living spaces, the guys loved the pool table. Very clean and well appointed with everything we needed. The location was perfect- close to Leeland and plenty of up north wineries. The house was very private and secluded from neighbors and set back from the main road. This part of the lake is gorgeous, clear water and sandy bottom. The property owner was very responsive to all our questions and made the process very easy. We will be back again!
