Sweet New Cabin With Amazing Views Of The Hudson River
Dizzying views of the Hudson River! Sweet cabin modest in scale, simple and pure to not detract from the richness of the views, offering a fresh, invigorating sense of “just what is needed, nothing more.” The cabin was designed and hand crafted by its owner in 2017. The rugged primitive siding was harvested from on-site cedar trees; the knotty pine interior was locally sourced. Friends gifted a claw foot tub and historic farm house sink. Enjoy a hot tub experience in our new Japanese spa!
The living room offers incredible views of the Hudson River and the meadow below. There are leaded glass windows in the bay window, a large comfortable vintage sofa and simple decorations. The bedroom offers a queen bed with duvet covers and beautiful east facing views of the Hudson River. There is an antique vanity with vessel sink, antique oriental rugs and Asian artwork. The bathroom has a claw foot tub with shower hoop and glass vessel sink. There is plenty of hot water, towels and soap. The kitchen is fully stocked with stove, fridge, microwave and sink. There are beautiful copper pans to cook with, plates, glasses and silverware.
This beautiful cabin is located hundreds of feet above the Hudson River and offers dizzying views and great privacy. The cabin is not set a top the highest point of the land, where it would be fully exposed, but partway down, allowing the woods behind to form privacy and to shelter the house. Gaze out at the wildness of the site from a sheltered spot. Enjoy spectacular views of the Hudson River, a cedar forest and wildflower meadow.
There is a fire pit with Adirondack chairs. We provide dry firewood and kindling for our guests. Stargazing at night is amazing as there is no light pollution.
Enjoy a hot tub experience! Built within a beautiful Japanese temple-like structure on one of the most beautiful spots of our land, our all natural no-chemical hot tub is a delightful way to start your morning, relax after hiking or winding down after dinner. Available for a private experience for $25 for an hour of wonderful relaxation. Let us know if you would like to book.
Join us for wood-fired pizza! On the upper portion of our land off Cemetery Road, we have a wood fired pizza oven. Here’s how it works. We make and provide the dough, and guests bring their own toppings. We fire up the wood-fired pizza in the late afternoon. By six, the wood fire has died down and the oven is about 800 degrees. From six to seven-thirty, guests come to the pizza pavilion with their toppings and we help them cook their pizzas. Because the oven is so hot, the pizzas cook in about three minutes. Lots of fun! Requested of donation of $8 ($5 for children) for firewood, dough and maintenance, please. Let us know if you plan to join us.
Summers are wonderful with cool mountain breezes, nearby lakes and the Hudson River to swim, bathe or fish in. Fall is glorious with all the trees turning color. As for things to do in the area, there is white water rafting in the beautiful clean Hudson River right at the bottom of our hill offered by various kayaking companies, hiking spots galore, a nearby gorgeous completely undeveloped lake called 13th Lake, dining in North Creek or nearby Garnet Hill Lodge and great daytrips to nearby Lake George, Blue Mountain Lake, Lake Placid and such.
A great deal of thought and energy went into planning this cabin. Like a tree grabbing a roothold in the slope, reaching down for water and minerals and arching up toward the available sunlight, a house must begin and grow from its site. When the design of a house has grown out of the uniqueness of the site, it will seem as natural and as integral a part of the whole as trees are a part of the forest. When the house becomes a part of the land, the site can be fully inhabited.
This property is located at the end of a quiet country road and abuts forty acres of land owned by your host where we offer glamping tents and two other cabins. Please take a look at these listings and reviews to get a better sense of what we offer. The property is an easy scenic drive up 87 from NYC.
If you arrive late, the house will be unlocked and lights on for you.
MORE HISTORY: Since 1910, my family has owned 8 acres of land on the upper part of the land. When my great-grandparents built the original camp (Bird Camp), there were gorgeous views looking all the way down to the Hudson River. Then when people stopped owning grazing animals, and as it then became expensive to keep the meadows mowed, the trees grew up and the views were all lost. When 32 acres of land below us became available several years ago, with financial help from my brother, I purchased the land and over several winters, I had the property strategically logged to open up again the beautiful south and east facing views of Gore Mountain, Moxon Mountain and the Hudson River below.
Originally I intended to return to my former business life I'd led downstate and to build vacation homes for sale. As things have worked out, my plan now is to build simple beautiful rental cabins and retain the property for retirement income, and so that I might leave an income producing estate to my daughters.
I had an amazing winter of 2016 and 2017 building this camp. By December, the framers had completed the structure, the windows were in and I was able to keep warm with temporary heat all winter as I spent months happily finishing the inside of the "camp."

This cute, secluded cabin was perfect for our group of 3. The views are stunning, the cabin charming, and walkable hot tub relaxing (for small fee). Only needed improvements are storm windows to keep strong winter breezes out, or a wood stove to offset the cold. Overall was a very nice stay, and we would for sure book again.

The cabin was handcrafted by the owner. It has incredible views and is set up for wonderful relaxation. There is even a Japanese style hot tub/bath on the property. The owner is very responsive. We love the concept of the hobby farm that she is continuing to develop and nurture- we will most certainly be back to this property!

What a lovely stay! The property owner Leslie obviously has spent much time considering the needs of her guests. One of our favorite moments was simply entering the cabin. It was charming and cozy, and we never found ourselves needing anything we didn’t already have. A spot we would highly recommend booking while staying here is the sauna. We visited during winter, so it was the perfect type of relaxation needed after skiing. “An out of body experience that will leave both your muscles and your mind relaxed and reawakened,” as stated by my boyfriend. The other thing you can’t miss is a look into the shop that’s on the property. We ran into Leslie and her sweet dogs, Bella and Sammy. We were met with open arms and wagging tails before immediately being handed a cookie and a slice of quiche. Leslie’s quiche changed my opinion on quiche. Best quiche I’ve ever had. Chatting with Leslie really made the place feel like a home away from home. Make sure you take home something homemade, we recommend the tomato sauce! Thank you!

Amazing and so quiet
This was one of the best stays of my life. It was so quiet that at times all I heard was wind or birds. The cabin was so clean and well kept, the bed so comfortable, there is no ac but it was not needed with the windows open. The bright red Adirondack chairs in the grass were the perfect spot to sit and breath in fresh air while my pugs ran and played. Plenty of dishware and pots in the kitchen and I just spent hours gazing out the windows, from my bedroom or the den. I hope I can return one day. Do follow the directions 100% as I didn’t see the road directly beside the volunteer fire station and went to the next road (dirt). Also, have your directions ahead of time as there is no cellphone coverage there, but once in the cabin the wife was great. I hope I can return one day. Say Auger falls and Griffin falls nearby. Met the most amazing man at a shop (Northern Hospitality) in nearby Wells. That is a delightful town and worth a trip. Ask for Lee at the shop and he will give you a tour.

The property is secluded and quiet. The cabin is nicely appointed, cozy, and has everything you need. We cooked all of our own meals on site, so we did not need to find places to eat, but North Creek is a quick drive and has plenty of options. The views are lovely from the large cabin windows, as well as when you are sitting in the back behind the cabin. There are nice Adirondack chairs arranged around a fire ring. Firewood is provided, you just have to message the owners and they will let you know where to pick it up. You might want to bring some newspaper and a pack of firestarter sticks. This made fire starting so much easier than looking for kindling. Overall, it was a beautiful stay.
