Nightmare Stay: Spider Infestation, Unresponsive Host, and Useless VRBO Support.We booked this cabin for President’s day wknd. It turned into a disaster. Within minutes of arriving late at night, we found multiple large spiders (1"–2"), webs across ceilings, closets, and even near the bed, plus visible egg sacs. It was clearly an infestation. We immediately messaged the host, Jon, through VRBO. My wife slept on the sofa with the lights on; I barely slept.Next morning, Jon dismissed the issue, blamed us for not calling his phone, insisted “no insects were detected,” and told us to leave immediately for “health/safety reasons.” We rushed out, never unpacked, and waited hours in a parking lot while he ignored messages and refused to coordinate a refund. With no pet‑friendly options on a holiday weekend, we drove 4.5 hrs. home exhausted. He even sent a checkout reminder on the original departure date.VRBO support was equally terrible—hours on hold, dropped calls, repeated promises of refunds that never materialized. Days later, they admitted no claim had been created and told us to dispute the charge with our credit card, despite acknowledging it was a health/safety issue. Their “guarantees” mean nothing.Days later, the host finally claimed a refund was issued but wouldn’t confirm the amount. Convenient timing, considering VRBO’s 12‑day review window. Beyond the infestation, the host showed zero concern, responsibility, or basic empathy. Avoid this property and platform.
