We had a wonderful vacation. The unit has a super kitchen. The bed was extremely comfortable and our balcony was in the shade which was a big plus. We loved the short walk to the beach and to a waterfront restaurant. And having a Whalers General Store in the building was very handy. The free parking was also a treat. We hope to return soon!

Parking is an issue as the garage doesn’t have room for all the guests cars. They did offer valet when I couldn’t find a spot. Furniture in my room is getting a bit worn but it was clean. Beautiful view! This is the second time I’ve stayed at this location. Beautiful property. Pools are nice and clean. Lovely beach. Nice to have Dukes on property

Relax and Unwind

We enjoyed the unit that we stayed in very much. The view from the lanai was very beautiful. The unit was and property was very clean and well kept. Like that there was an ABC store in the lobby, and they do an excellent Latte. The pool was very nice with several options including a quite pool, with plenty of seating and Casabella's are an excellent option to pamper yourself. The shuttle service was great and would take us anywhere within a few miles as we went to Whaler's Village often and the drivers are very helpful and freindly!Bottom line is that you cannot go wrong with this property!

August 2024 stay

Impressed by the facilities and room we booked for our family of 4 vacation. Honua Kai was well maintained and the rental agency was quick to respond to us for service on the digital door lock and coffee maker filter. The room was clean, well equipped with laundry detergent, dishwashers pods. We had a beautiful view of the ocean. Location is convenient to supermarket within walking distance and many restaurants.

Awesome week in Maui

Great property and room. Our only complaint is that the bed was hard and the pillows flat. Consider adding a mattress topper and pillow options in the closet. Also, the cooler and chairs were awesome for the beach. Add an umbrella and it would be a 10. Overall we would not hesitate to stay here again. Thank you for a great stay.

10th Anniversary Trip

We love Honua Kai. This is our 2nd time and the unit was perfect. Great view from the deck. It gets afternoon sun so draw the drapes to keep the room cool. The property has been well maintained, great location. The only criticism I would warn guest is the parking was not good. There was never any spots in the parking garage in the evenings. We had to park and walk quite a ways. Would be an issue if your not capable of walking a distance. Given that you pay for parking seems like they should have a valet service to park your care further away and bring it around for you. Aloha!

Nice spot

Nice studio to lay your head down. Studio but spacious w/ full kitchen, large fridge, full bath, W/D and still doesn't feel too small. Bedding is very comfortbale (had to call for more pillows as these were sparse) but Maui Resort Rentals responded w/ a quickness as they did w/ any questions we had for them. Facing West for a nice ocean/sunset view (in return the patio and room will get hot late afternoons, draw the blinds lol) Honua Kai is a nice family oriented resort w/ all the amenities and comforts you'll need. If you're looking for a more quiet/romantic/relaxed setting look elsewhere or at least stay towards the outer parts of the resort. There is a small shopping center walking distance w/ several restaurants and a grocery store to stock that big fridge for your stay in addition to a food truck park right next door taht's very popular. Maui Resort Rentals was very to easy to work with and very communicative and was like booking with the resort directly.

Mask Hassles, Chair Shortages & Other Unwanted Aggravations

The property was what I expected, beautiful and peaceful. I've stayed here before. However, the environment this trip was totally not what I've experienced in the past trips here. The mask requirements are enforced and where I live there are no mask requirements so this was a constant aggravation. The number of chairs has been greatly reduced and at 100% percent occupancy that was a hassle. Especially, when trying to get chairs by the quiet pool and some adults with children apparently ignored the QUIET POOL designation that was another aggravation that security should be enforcing like they do the mask requirement. The ability to get a reservation to restaurants including Duke's that is on-site here and other restaurants that I'd normally eat at was all but impossible to get. The wait times and uncertainty of getting in to eat anywhere was another aggravation. I won't come back here until the mask and other requirements are lifted. Especially, the airport hassles of standing in long lines and then having to take another COVID-19 test after having a test the day before coming over here.

Place was great with a few exceptions. We consistently ran out of hot water with a family of 4. Which wasn’t a huge deal but for a place this new kind of surprises me. The balcony faces the sun and is almost unusable in the mid afternoon. Outside of that place was very clean and had great views of the pacific and it’s located far enough away from Lahaina and Kanapanalli that crowds are less

Beautiful location

The place was very clean and a condo. Resort is lovely. There were a few missteps with the check-in process related new COVID protocols implemented by resort. After discussing issues with property management team, they drafted new communications for the upcoming guest. In the end, all was well, the company resolved all the issues.

Great stay, amazing views!

We stayed for two nights in November. The location was excellent and we absolutely loved the views from the balcony, especially at sunset. It was during COVID and they had recently reopened so we needed to show negative test results at check in (which is really a drive up check point with security). It would have been nice to know in advance as we had already been in Maui for 3 weeks so just didn’t have these handy and held up the process a bit - and the cars behind us. Checked out the pools, which were nice and well maintained and had an excellent dinner at Dukes. We would definitely come back and stay longer next time!
