We have stayed here before. Communication is great, the rooms are great and have everything you need. I would highly recommend. Beach is beautiful, restaurant is great and so much to do within a short drive or even walk if you choose.

Excellent location and resort

Our family of four enjoyed our stay at Honua Kai. We especially enjoyed the gorgeous beach with sea turtles, family-friendly pools area, live music at Duke’s restaurant, and walks and runs on the boardwalk. Great family vacation - thank you!

Fantastic unit

We really enjoyed our stay in this unit. My husband was especially happy about the cable service because he was able to watch international soccer games. The unit was perfect for our family of 4. Our teenage kids slept comfortably on the sofa sleeper. The balcony was very spacious. The washer/dryer were easy to use and came in handy throughout the week. The vitamix blender was an added bonus so I could make my daily shakes. This was our 2nd time staying at Honua Kai and we will definitely return! It is such a great resort with a beautiful beach, marvelous pools, and great service. Parking is difficult after 8 pm.

Needs some attention

The Honua Kai is perfectly located along the Kaanapali Beach shoreline. It offers a wonderful view and access to the beach as well as being conveniently located in proximity to grocery stores and some restaurants. The front desk attendants, bellmen, and other staff members are kind and attentive. Our room was clean with only some minor problems. The property, however, has and continues to be neglected. The common areas (elevators, hallways, and grounds) need serious attention. I am certain that the floors of the elevators have not been cleaned since we were there a year ago, and touch-up of paint and repair of the corners of walls as well as carpet cleaning never happens. Landscape maintenance is spotty at best. Is all of this the end of the world? Well, no but it is an indication of attention paid by the maintenance staff and how much management cares about the overall experience of the guests. Another thing which is SIGNIFICANT, and management just cannot figure this out, is this: Each balcony has tile floors. The table and chairs on the balconies have no padding or protective ends on the feet so that when they are moved - and it seems to be a favorite pastime of most guests, it makes the loudest screeching noise that can be heard several floors below and across. Why the management cannot put felt tips on the ends of this furniture is beyond me! We have complained numerous times over several visits and it always falls on deaf ears. Also, know that many guests come from the mainland and so their sleep schedules take some time to adjust. The movement of the balcony furniture seems to occur according to their wake schedules at home! This is usually around 3 to 5 o'clock in the morning!!! Trust me people!~ This is a big deal! The pool areas are very nice but the pool lounge chairs are getting worn and in need of replacement. Pool-side food is expensive so bring your own. Maui Resort Rentals does a good job of communicating. Instructions for check-in/checkout are clear and easy. But know that your stay in their managed rooms is not inclusive of maid or cleaning services without a fee. This means that you'll be doing all the stuff you do at home if you want your sheets cleaned, floors vacuumed, towels washed, bathroom cleaned, etc. They will send someone to clean it but it will cost you each time you want cleaning to occur. Oh, and there are no vacuums, general cleaning supplies, etc in the room.

Always great at the Honua Kai

I've stayed at this venue many times but with other agencies. This visit was similar and everything was as expected. Clean facilities, convenient location, nice pool. Would recommend. For those sensitive to the construction: Most of the villas are erected structurally and each villa is in various stages of completion. There is still some heavy equipment that you can hear from the 6th floor. Not overly loud but you can definitely hear it. It did not bother us as the site hours were typically from 7am to 4pm, M-F, when we were out at the beach.

View not what I expected

Interior of condo was perfect in every way. While I knew construction was in progress if I had a better picture of current view I would have spent a little more to get a different view. VRBO did not show any of the construction it was a way different than pictures on website. Additionally while I appreciate them letting me know what time I had to leave the condo to catch my flight, I would like to determine that myself rather than have a cleaning crew knocking on my door before I was ready to go. I had till 11am to checkout so them being there at 9:30am was annoying. That being said ...again the interior of the condo was beautiful and amazing in everyway...Problems with internet and cable addressed immediately...appliances top shelf...bed a dream
